Buy Defensive Items In Season 9 Please

As a support main and pretty decent player at playing passive enough to get gold and not feed my other roles, I would like to state that there is a big difference between a good player and a great player. It all comes down to itemization. Now I used to main top lane in the beginning and after bruisers and mages starting ripping up the top lane my tank champs were not helping my team get us into a good mid game scenario and I wasn't able to tank enough in a fight and to be honest for a long time I thought it was my fault as the tank, but the more I watch competitive play and just higher elo play in general I began to see that I was beating myself up for nothing mentally. What I have come to see from pro play and even high elo play is that these player never neglect the importance of buying at least one early game defensive item. As the skill level increases the more I see mages picking up barrier as a summoner spell or buying hourglass as a second item just because of the armor and insanely strong actives it provides for extending and re-positioning team fights. You can tell a player isnt good when they are playing ekko and neglect getting hourglass in favor of lich bane because they think proto-belt is enough and sometimes protobelt is enough but not as you increase in skill level. Burst damage will never go away and as the skill level increases so do the players who can pull off the ability damage or sustained autos. It is definitley a lost art in lower elo play to buy defensive items and just let your runes help you scale damage and then let your other main damage carries build the damage for the team. This game has become more self-centered and exposes that flaw with a collapse of team fight power through the squishy nature of a team and each individuals lack of respect for damage the other team can deal. If you are a tank please buy spirit or helm or even just deadmans because those items alone are insanely beneficial to winning a teamfight with hp to spare for other objectives and helps yourself better with gap closing or even kitting potential. Randuins and deadmans plate combo is my single most favorite way to fix any problems with mobility or lack of crucial cc during a teamfight. Please always buy hourglass as a mage. For the love of your squishy butt just do it. Don't be that one guy dead 2 seconds after you get targeted. Make it easier for your tank to stay in the front line and for the assassins, please get GA or Phantom dancer. These items alone are just super important for negating a good amount of burst and also negating the enemy from moving their eyes away from you. It allows yourself back into the fight and will also allow your teammates to make important plays. DEFENSIVE ITEMS OPEN UP WINDOWS FOR TURNING AROUND TEAM-FIGHTS. Stop it, get some help. - Michael Jordan Buy those defensive items please.item 3065 item 3053 item 3157 item 3046 item 3140 item 3194 item 3742 item 3143 item 3083 item 3193 item 3026 item 3156

People might buy defensive items if defensive items were actually worth buying with all the % damage and true damage flying around. Damage is already overkill - Sorry, this game is League of Who can kill the other the fastest, and it's not gonna change because this is the way it is now and Riot has successfully Overton-windowed everyone by now to trick them into thinking the state of the game is okay

While technically true you also need to remember this happens in higher elo because you are expecting your allies to know their champions and hopefully not feed too bad.

Still happens, but not as often. So, just not feeding your enemy laner works a lot better in higher elo, where safely trying to test out the other side until someone makes a mistake can win you a game. In lower elo, you can play extra safe, and your allies can still give up all the dragons and feed, making you useless.

Probably more precise to say not feeding your enemy helps you to win more games, and sometimes defensive itemization can help you do that.

I can see what you are saying and I completely agree. Especially when mages are bruisers are suffocating the meta with either too much sustain or insane burst damage. It is like two stones slowly crushing you from each side and if you try to focus your build on one then the other crushes you two times faster.

The problem with Deadman's is that the combined cost is friggin massive. The other items are decent though.
