This metas jungling role has to change

EnigmaticMachine··27 votes·11,130 views

Please change it, no one wants a hyper ganking jungle meta anymore. Season 3 and 4 where the only seasons to solve this problem and ever since the game has gotten worse. I would rather have a jungle meta where ganking isnt the top priority early game but really matters for after level 5 going into level 6. It allows the laners to actually influence the lane without fearing for a lee sin holding a huge black dildo waiting to strike leaving you in constant paranoia.

I hate this season jungle, its so bad, they gut the jungle into the ground, its gank or be useless now.

And the best part is when your team does everything to not let you gank so you fall behind and then they have the easy way out with "better jungle wins". Best meta.

it's also super fun when you decide to just mass gank lanes and actually succeed literally getting yourself and at least 2 of your other lanes extremely fed only for them to continuously over push/split and die 2v4 or 1v3 or w/e to enemy team and gift them free kills + bounty gold and bring enemy team right back into the game.............

Yes your team often intentionally sets you back. For example I take the first enemy red whenever I can and then immediately gank, so the enemy jungler sees me knows I have his red so he goes for mine. I tell this my team and nobody fucking moves they just stay in lane whent hey could easy collapse on him. So the adventage I take is getting neutralized by my team playing against me. And then it allways is "better jungler wins"

I'd collapse for you :). I think it helps that I used to main jungle so I try to help my junglers out as much as possible plus I usually honor my jungler as I know how stressful the role is and respect them a lot when they have a good game. For me though jungle got too stressful so now I am a mid Malzahar main lmfao. So.... as much as I love to help my junglers from invade I literally do like negative damage to start so it makes it very hard for me to contest say our red or whatever from enemy jungler without some backup. But usually I can at least scare them off which obviously sets them back pretty far even if we don't get the kill.

Have junglers ever been weaker than they are right now? Honest question, I havent been playing long.

WoonStruck17 votes

They used to be forced to gank at half HP, essentially. The jungle is so forgiving now that there's almost zero risk in ganking a lane.

They were stronger, but didn't have as much influence on laning phase because ganking wasn't always the best or safest option.

did make for some funny moments (well, bad funny moments XD)

no no, back off, don't engage the opponents, they're at full health and you're at 40% after I just healed you!

-proceeds to engage-

noooooo!

-tries to back them up-

an ally has been slain

-starts to back off-

allied jungler approaches

"no, no! Go away, they're still full health and I am not an engage support!"

-enemy double kill-

"oh come on..."

Blitzcrank opponent: >: ) //CHOCOBO MUSIC INTENSIFIES// flash, ghost, hook grab full combo

ENEMY TRIPLE KILL!

I think this was before level 6 so it might not have been a full blitz combo, but lol

Agreed. One example is playing graves and taking buffs. If I'm lucky, I can do buffs with getting hit once or less, if I'm unlucky it'll be 2-3 hits. It's just so unbelievably safe.

Lol jungle hasn't ever been more broken.

S6 and then the following rework s7 peak of jungle power and riot has barely done anything to change that. Just shifted the style from afk farm to three levels and two items above to gank gank gank gank for free lp

Agreed, I have so many games where I get camped and whether I do good or bad is irrelevant. If the enemy jungler can stagnate me enough, and our jungler doesn't gank or doesn't win some of the other lanes the game is completely doomed. Had this game the other day where I got hard camped the entire game (as in 5 ganks at 3 minutes and continuous ganking thereafter.) I was playing Irelia and only died to one gank, and during the 10-12 minute mark I started getting these nutty 1v2 outplays. Turns out my jungler on the otherside of the map literally did not gank a single lane, and the other 2 lanes were losing. So despite me getting really fed off the enemy jungler and not dying to his camps I still end up losing. It sounds like a really niche scenario but it happens so often. Every 4 or 5 games or so I would say, although it's not often that im able to 2v1. Jungle has so much of a high impact on every role, I feel like some games are just entirely out of my control, even if im making the correct decisions. Although im only p2 so thats what my game knowledge amounts to.

If u are crying about lee sin and his one relevant ability. I think it's time to learn to play the game after all...

Please. I’m so tired of almost every game being J4 or Lee ganking at lvl 2 and falling behind the entire game because I wanted to play Kayn.

BackdoorPrincess2 votes

Tbh turret plating made it even worse.

Oh, my top laner is winning? Let's stomp the shit out of this guy and get first turret at 8 minutes

Oh, my top laner is losing? Let's gank the shit out of this guy, and possibly have my laner die to give me twice the gold from the 3 platings I'm getting ready to take

Midlane is roaming botside? I'll shove the living fuck out of their lane to deny xp/keep enemy laner there/take more platings

Does botside have a stun, blown summoners, or incredibly pushed against? Lets get them platings fam

Anymore it seems that focusing on platings is the way to go, and while the enemy is recuperating to push objectives then

Sooooooo it's wrong to gank as the jungler? Ummm okay

Barkley33 votes

No. Its wrong to have farming be a negative option, and a last resort. Farming your jungle is almost always a worse option than just ganking repeatedly in the current meta.

Jungle experience is a joke. Unless you're getting kills or AFK farming your jungle, you fall behind. So much so that you become irrelevant.

And since AFK farming means zero jungle pressure, and therefore a probable loss -- ganking quickly becomes your only option.

And god forbid you make a mistake with your gank and die, or don't get a kill -- then you begin falling irrecoverably behind.

Its absolutely punishing, and not very fun to play. Basically whoever gets more successful ganks off, wins.

Counter jungling means nothing. Catch up XP is a joke. And games snowball so hard right now that really all you need to do as a jungler is get a couple early ganks off to get a lane ahead, and the game just snowballs from there.

Power creep has become such a readily apparent issue in this game that literally everyone can 100-0 everyone else (wtf are resistances?), and so the minute someone gets ahead in lane -- the lane is just over. There is no come back. There is no 1-for-1 tit-for-tat, both laners come out 3-3. None of that. If you get an early kill, you just win the lane, period.

And so this has devolved the jungle meta into "Gank as much as humanly possible all the time and do nothing else or you're SOL"

Jungling used to be the most cerebral and strategic role to play which is why I fell in love with it and main it.

Nowadays its probably the most braindead.

Thank you: rank is just a measure of your success, not a measure of mental acuity, and neither necessarily influence the other.

As for fixing the jungle itself, I have a few ideas:

  1. Increase experience gains at level 1 from lane minions for laners: This doesnt help the directly, but by often as a jungler I see I am the first to hit level 2 because of clearing the first buff.

  2. Increase experience gains at level 2 or 3 on from jungle camps for junglers: Likewise, after a certain point, the experience gained from the jungle feels like a joke.

  3. For Monster Hunter, convert lost gold from lane minions to experience: This is more of a crazy idea, but it would help junglers that fall behind after a bad gank get back in. Would need to be balanced heavily though.

  4. Rework Krugs: I have started to ignore this camp all together. Not only does its location prevent easy access compared to Gromp, Murkwolves, or Raptors, but the constant splitting after death makes this camp incredibly tedious. If you want to keep the split mechanic, just have two medium Krugs that each shed off two small Krugs at half health. Granted this might open up abuse by simply letting the medium Krugs live, but that could be remedied by throttling gold and exp gains from small krugs.

when talking about jungle it sure is a measure of "mental acuity" since having correct pathing already secures you plat+

TakaDama2 votes

My apologies: I meant to support Barkley's argument that 'low rank' does not necessarily imply 'low intelligence'. In general knowing how to play one's position and play it well grants a better opportunity for one to climb, but Summoner's Rift isn't just one player versus another one; it is five players versus another five. And since jungle's influence is spread out over the entirety of the map at the start of the game, a jungle's success is more dependent on their team's success.

Hi im 121 votes

i mean if you're good at jungle you'll be in dia in 100 games, i get that there are unlucky games but people that have 5k games in bronze and are like "its not that im bad its just not a 1v1 game!" are idiotic.

KlydeFrog1 votes

Not true how many games I smash in jungle and lose 😂. Doesn't matter if I get fed or laners get fed I lose so yah

Hi im 121 votes

show me one of the games you "smashed" in jungle and I'll tell you how you would have won the game if you played better.

TakaDama1 votes

Sorry, but while the Law of Averages would suggest that eventually a player will climb after enough games won, that law is an erroneous generalization, and unless a player is in Iron IV with 0 LP, that player has a positive chance of both going down and going up. And since this is a team game where an individual player must work with four other players to defeat the other five players, that chance to go up or down ranks fluctuates from game to game depending on the quality of both teams.

Being individually good does help, but being good as a team helps more.

Razelth2 votes

Issue is that failing ganks don't really cost much. This is why junglers can just sit in one lane and gank over and over. Sharing exp is more efficient if you can get ganks off for some reason because of how long the camps take to respawn and how little exp they give.

I mean when I jungle I play Olaf skarner uydr ww voli and when I truly want to dominate I just play mumu. But me I farm on first rotation and get drag as soon as it spawns cause I haven't had a issue soloing drag and focus object cause drags to me always equal strength.

its funny riot wanted to lessen level 2 ganks/ganks in general with the xp nerf, but they did the opposite of it

PiVoRx4 votes

It would be fine if every jungler have equal tools for succesful gank, farm junglers like MasterYi Shyvana Udyr have ceased to exist cause cant do anything before 15min.

udyr can't do anything before 15 mins?? i want to play on eune wtf

Except they do. Yi has solid damage throughout the whole game, Udyr is amazing pre 15 and Shyvana is amazing at level 6.
