With champions like Pyke, is it any wonder why League is losing people?

To call this Pyke thing a "support" is laughable. His entire kit is as overloaded as Yasuo and his 2 forms of mobility are so overloaded, with a free stun and on no cooldown that it really does dictate the game that Riot is going for now.

This is what League has become, champions without consistent, auto-refreshing mobility are almost completely worthless now. Let's take a champion like Lissandra that has 22 seconds on her claw, which is reasonable for a versatile mobility spell, but this rule does not apply to assassins or champions that happen to be "popular" because they can get kills without counter-play.

Counter play is hardly even a thing now, the games are made to appeal to Korean hyperactive reflexes (Because they have nothing better to do with there lives... It is Korea after all) and the game has completely spiralled into a continuous mess of damage and mobility.

Not to mention Pyke's "Ultimate" which is pretty much on the par with a Garen one shot and feels completely uninteractive and almost completely unfair. They should have made it like Veigar's cage, with a slight delay so it can be dodgable but that would require too much precise timing and skill, its a HUGE ability.

How else would Riot sell such obvious power creep?

It seems this day, Riot is compromising the game's integrity for single minded profit.

The level of hypocrisy is mind-boggling, Pyke can go ANY lane and yet, when other "supports" try, like Taric, Soraka etc, they are reworked to be COMPLETELY locked to the support role. How exactly is this fair? Is it just because Pyke is an AD Assassin and AD Assassins always get preferential and more popular treatment?

How are people still having a problem with Pyke? All you have to do is give him a dirty look and he evaporates, leaving a pile of salt.

He’s seriously squishy AF and easily bursted down. This topic was obviously created after a salty match

Being "Squishy" is not a sufficient excuse for the rather ridiculous kit that he has. While it is totally true that he cannot build health, he can STILL have resistances that make it fairly tanky. Couple him with champions with a high level of CC and you have an unstoppable killing machine that has virtually no trade offs. I've been on teams with people who play him and I hate him being on my team, like Yasuo players. They attract the same selfish, egotistical and rude kind of people too.

I created this post after I played on a team WITH him and he destroyed the enemy team with his overpowered ultimate and ridiculous mobility. I felt sorry for that team because its totally sick!

Then it sounds like the enemy team didn’t know how to play against Pyke, not Pyke is the OP messiah of free elo

No, but his design shows a VERY real problem with League. Every champion these days needs to have some instant, low cooldown, refreshing mobility or they are almost completely worthless in this game. Damage and mobility creep are through the roof and Pyke just compounds an already existing problem with the game, that only ONE playstyle is currently viable.

Pyke is a new style assassin support, not a tool to permeate your bandwagon logical fallacy about high burst/mobility GP

GreyfellD1 votes

Really... I wonder why people are leaving League then, could it be something to do with the unfair mobility and damage of assassins?

Quiet Dude1 votes

Do you only have logical fallacies in your deck? Cause I’m calling unless you got anything substantial to back up your claims

Pykes cooldowns are huge. Lol at pyke going in any lane. His wave clear is beyond horrible and should get punished badly. He is a higher damage thresh and blitz, where if you get hooked you’re probably going to die.

His wave clear is extremely strong. It's probably the 4th most reliable wave clear in the game. That's just a fallacy spread by players who don't actually try him as one.

I can push 10-11 CS/minute on him.

He has 3 options to augment is clear:

item 3074 item 3751 item 3076 . All are viable, and even without them.... E through minions > Q through minions early-mid game kills waves.

Tiamat builds give him 3 auto attack resets too. Q and E are both auto attack resets as is Tiamat. You can 1 second auto 3 times + 2 skills for all aoes if you do it right.

And counter intuitive to what players may think, item 3078 is actually a good item on him. Attack speed boosting + Move speed + HP + Phage... speeds clears even more, and makes attacking tankier bruisers like Garen more viable.

Personally I jungle him. I hit level 6 right after mid does.

And the only times I fall behind on CS are when I'm too busy solo killing an entire team..... over and over.

Pyke's biggest weakness as a laner though..... is actually that it creates teams that have two early game team reliant members. Early game, Pyke needs a reliable team. A Feeding and collapsing team doesn't get him the momentum he needs to stay relevant. Doable teams: I go 20+ kills/0-7 deaths/most damage on team. Teams that fall apart or are ill conceived: I end with scores like 6/6/5.

Pyke also needs specific champs banned.... like Aatrox Tryndamere MasterYi .....who all coincidentally meta. He also technically needs Braum banned on knowledgeable teams who know how to play with Braum. He's a guaranteed stun/death on Pyke.

id rather play vs pyke than "not overloaded" fun champs like brand lul

GreyfellD2 votes

You mean one of the only viable mages in the game at the moment, simply because his damage is so high? Because I haven't seen Velkoz, Xerath, Syndra or Ziggs in a VERY long time.

Illabethe1 votes

I've seen them all and Xerath and Ziggs particularly. Ziggs is off metaing adc atm. Xerath is rarer but stll toxic.

I agree Pyke is annoying, but not because of his mobility or execute or CC; his passive is basically Garen's on a more lethal champion.

Illabethe1 votes

Depends on the team construction. There are many champs who can kill Pyke mid E cast, before it even stuns. Hard to heal when mid engage you're dead.

Illabethe1 votes

I'm sorry but Pyke has a shit ton of counterplay, and most of it is meta right now.

True damage (Conquerer, IE) Life saving skills (Tryndamere Aatrox Anivia Kayle Kayn Kindred )

Heals..... Life regen.....

Tenacity.....

Dashes.....

1 Shot damage..... (Tryndamere literally 1 shots him)

Meta champs like MasterYi who are inescapable....

Tanks.....

His kit when developed IS relative murder.

But it usually doesn't get there. Teams destroy the opportunity to do so.

You have to have W maxed and kill people in 2 seconds to be a nightmare.

Late reply, Sorry, but hating on Koreans "Because they have nothing better to do with there lives... It is Korea after all" should have been the highlight of this thread. Why did no one go out of their way to correct this hate speech?

What the flaming bleep are you even replying to? I looked at the conversation you replied to.... and there isn't even a single mention of "Koreans" or "Nothing better to do with their lives."

It's in the opening post. "With champions like Pyke, is it any wonder why League is losing people?" You can find it in google search as well if you looked for the exact quote.

Except it's not. The Topic is Pyke/League losing people. Korea is a Paragraph 3 tangent topic.

If anyone was using sterotyping/hatespeech it was the OP, not me lol.

P.S. I am a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, trained in Yawara, Jong Bong, Bong Mon Gee, etc. I have a picture of myself with the founder of the American Taekwondo Association. Do I hate Korea?

P.P.S. I actively play Twice in my car every day to work. Better than anything on US radio....

But hey..... you decided to try to accuse me of hating Koreans....

I am not sure why you're getting upset about this. Clearly you weren't the person to whom I was referring. GreyfellD (EUW) is the person who posted that comment. /soothe

edit: I see where the confusion began. I clicked reply instead of creating a new thread to the OP. Even so, it should have been pretty clear I wasn't talking about you. Apologies for the confusion.

I love how league community down-votes this thread. It's 100% true that Pyke's kit is OP. It's a pull, an invis, a dash, an invulnerable-jump ult - all beefed up with super high damage.

It was super obvious when RIOT made Pyke that they were desperate for sales. The OP is 100% correct in comparing Pyke to Yasuo - it was the exact same situation when they released Yasuo. Before Yasuo, there wasn't a champ that could dash infinitely, block every ability, shield on passive, and ult with invulnerability.
