G&B: Why is this still a thing?
Let's get this out of the way first, the boards have always been bad, literally from the very beginning. I've been here since they made the switch, and every major change that Riot has made to the boards since G&B was removed have made the problems of Boards even worse by each change. However, now it's hit critical mass.
I thought circlejerking was bad back when Nidalee was "strong" (not freshly reworked Nidalee, jungle Nidalee, after two nerfs). But fast forward to today, and today I think was the first day I haven't seen a "VAYNE MOST OP CHAMP EVER, DELETE PULUZE!!1!" bumped to the front page every single day. I'm not exaggerating, there's usually more than one EVERY DAY.
Ok, while circlejerking is bad in that regard, at least the boards showed consistency in who they work their penises in a lather over. But now it's gotten to the point where Lux and Veigar are being called for deletion, CHAMPIONS, THAT MAY I REMIND YOU, THAT BOARDS HAVE WANTED VIABLE FOREVER.
You know, back when I was a noob at this game two years ago, I made a thread about Susan, of all champs, being OP. You know what happened to my thread on G&B, it got bricked. I got post after post after post on how I was wrong with actual goddamn facts, and every time I whined because I was salty because Gangplank got outscaled by him with just cloth armor and five health pots, I got responded back with constructive criticism on how weak his early game is, and how he's countered by mages and really mobile champs with lots of harass.
Today, if you're on boards' shit list, your posts will always be downvoted. It doesn't matter if Riven actually has an Urgod pick and win rate, I can guarantee that boards will still whine about them. I mean, shit, it took Nidalee a 47% win rate and a 1% pick rate to shut up about her, and I'm sure there's going to be a circlejerk about how the game's health is so much better off because of that.
Now, I hate Shaco, Volibear, and LeBlanc. But I would never say that they should be deleted from the game because I don't like playing against them. I may say that they shouldn't have been released in their current states, but I wouldn't theoretically go up to all avid players of those champs and say "YOUR CHAMP IS BAD AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD" because of my own personal distaste for their kits.
The reason why Ii'm posing this on G&B and not miscellaneous is because this board really needs to be deleted. In no situation does this board actually help, no matter what way you look at it. If Riot truly is now a money grubbing corporation that doesn't give a shit about its playerbase, then the whines on this board fall on deaf ears. And if Riot does actually listen, these arguments aren't constructive, and they tune them out as ramblings of a random whiny baby on the internet, or heaven forbid if your name is Stashu or CertainlyT, you get metaphorically chased out of the boards with pitchforks and torches.
Now, I'm not calling the kettle black, because I've potted a few times myself. I don't approve of Stashu's rework, I don't approve on his communication, and I don't approve of the way CertainlyT makes champions. But for fuck's sake, death threats over a video game? This shit is why video games, and especially League of Legends are called on having toxic communities.
