Context on Shen nerfs?

I just want to know why shen is getting nerf this hard after being the same way for months. A good shen doesn't guarantee a team the win nor does it gurantee map control. I know this because I have dedicated a lot of hours to shen (Honestly wasn't worth it till he got buffed, then reworked) knowing his in's and outs and I can say for a fact that Shen isn't overpowered.

It was a nerf geared towards the pros and lcs. They wanted to nerf his solo damage to focus his power on his ult.

Oh so its not a full nerf, just a rebalance...

:/ That makes sense. But things will always be stronger in the hands of LCS players. It's not fair that those adjustments push that champion into the margin of unplayability for the lower skilled non-lcs players.

Shen like most champs, needs a significant gold lead to become a threat. Which for him means farming it up and porting over the map for kill and objective gold. With it he still can't single handedly carry because he will lack damage to be the team frontman.

Mind you, he won't be great help outside his ult if he is denied farm (against a lane bullies Riven Darius and denied ultimate plays Draven Tristana Thresh Nami.

Read the comments by cesium. It goes very in depth in why Shen was nerfed. It's in the play test megathread
