Can Nasus have his 14% Lifesteal back at level 1?

HateDaddy··4 votes·2,491 views

I mean, we've literally just given everything sustain in top lane prior to not having it or having very shitty sustain. What exactly is nasus' role if he's the one getting outsustained? Seems counterintuitive if you asked me.

Nasus is weak right now because all the juggernauts are doing the same exact thing that he does, heavy hitting bruiser tanks who also scale into late game, except that they don't have to farm for it and are bullying him early game.

His winrate dropped from 51% to 46% despite getting a buff.

You can't reason with these people, they hate Nasus!! Meanwhile they're all meta top FoTM spammers, like Ryze players, so I feel no pity.

To be fair guys, I think the winrate drop has at least a little to do with that absolutely fucktastic Q bug.

Gutting Frozen Heart/overpowering Fiora/Darius/Garen sure doesn't help, though.

Haven't seen it happen in almost a week

Trust me, it's still in the game. It's just that knowing what makes it happen helps to avoid actually having it happen.

Go ahead and try it out in a custom game if you don't believe me.

I haven't played him, just spectating a friend and haven't seen it happen - you very well may be right. I stopped playing him last patch honestly, no point when Fiora, Garen, Darius, Olaf, Renekton and Trundle can all build BC/Titanic Hydra/Plate/Steraks/Mercs/SV and be harder to kill than you and dive your back line much better while ignoring your attempts at peeling.

I feel you on the whole newly OPnauts/herpderp kneejerk buffs thing, but complaining about Olaf top doesn't strike me as terribly valid. Sure, he can make laning phase terrible for Nasus, but he scales like crap and is honestly kind of shit in general.

Olaf is legit the best top Laner atm, he's picked a ton in competitive. The buff to his ult, black cleaver and new items are so godlike on him. He's probably going to be pick/ban at worlds.

Sure, he's used competitively in the toplane.

As a counter to Shen, Maokai, Lulu, and some other tanks. His normal and ranked winrate is shittastic.

Olaf has always had a shit winrate in solo queue and normals, even during s3 when he was pick or ban. But it doesn't make him any less of a hard counter in lane to Nasus, as he always has been. I'm happy fighters are good again. Overtuned? Yes. But that'll be addressed. I just don't want Nasus to fall back into his garbage state of season 2.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard

Towers always wreck him, even late game. He can't just facetank a tower and take it until he's sitting on 800-1000 bonus damage. It never gets to that point unless the people he's playing against are cucumbers.

Typical Nasus can do that anytime after about 40 minutes. It's nearing the end of the game and it's questionable whether it's actually going to change anything but, just because it's a fringe case doesn't mean it should be allowed. I'd prefer they straight nerf the Q so it stacks on a diminished level like Thresh's souls, and doesn't damage turrets. Then they can move power into the rest of his kit and make him a much healthier champion.

Contrary to popular belief Nasus is actually bad late game, his teamfighting is honestly terrible against anyone who knows what the terms "peel" and/or "disengage" mean, and the more time he spends stacking in lane, the more time the enemy toplaner spends roaming and snowballing the game (unless you're Darius Vladimir you **SHOULD NOT **be trying to babysit him all game, this is why people keep losing to him).

Only thing he is good for late game is tower taking, and that is assuming his team wins the preceding teamfight.

A game with an infinite scaling champion goes on long enough for him to start scaling? In order to get that kind of farm 40 minutes in, you'd have to literally never group. That would be the death of your team.

His q stacking mechanic is fine. Thresh has his adjusted the way he does because thresh brings so much shit to the table as a champion whereas Nasus can only do so much. I absolutely would have no problem with Nasus' Q being capped vs towers but in exchange he would need some serious buffs.

On that we agree. I think it would make him a healthier champion overall though. As is, he just isn't a champion that anyone wants to interact with, or that actually wants to interact with anyone else.

He does interact. Farming in melee range is interacting. You see, the problem is, this is a game 12 year olds play too and they're not happy if the other Laner isn't actively throwing their keyboard the wall like they are to try and make LCS big plays with every action in lane. Champions have different goals in lane, thats strategic diversity. If people had it their way, it'd be a lane of all-ins all the time because understanding all the different mechanics and approaches in this game is hard for people with the attention span of a gold fish.

Furthermore, why is Nasus farming in melee range and playing passively in the first place so frowned upon? Mages do this in every game if they decide they can't 100-0 their opponent, they just farm from fog of war, don't interact at all and scale into monster team fighters for free. But oh boy, fuck Nasus and his infinite scaling that literally has never single handily won a game. But mages pressing R in teamfights constsntly does. But fuck Nasus, am I right?

Even if Nasus farms to the point that he can buy item 2137 and solo a laser tower with no minions, your team would have to be terrible to not see him coming from a mile away and stop him. Tower reduces armor so he can't do that if there is a single person attacking him. He would also need the bonus structure damage from several stacks of dragon buff, which his team shouldn't have because he never teleports down to help contest drag, and if he did that means he missed crucial stacks. And by the time he has enough stacks to solo a laser tower, the game should be snowballed from the 5v4 fights you guys have been enjoying, even if it hasn't you could just bumrush him 4v1 while he's on your side of the map and kill him and then proceed to win the next teamfight 5v4 ez because he's locked behind a 60+ second respawn timer.

And jax jungle is actually Tier 1 (preferred/strong).

Jax is not even close to viable. 40 out of 52 toplaners have a higher winrate than him, and those 12 who are lower include Kassadin, Modekaiser and Ryze.

Sure, if Nasus can have his mana costs on E/W lowered so he can actually trade with his full combi more than once in lane without going completely oom. Jax can actually trade with a lot of champions not named Renekton early on.

The Bíg Ticket1 votes

Nasus goes oom while trading, Jax goes out of health, and he can't just freeze at his tower and heal back up. Not saying Nasus couldn't use some slight buffs, he is definitely too weak atm but Jax is like the weakest toplaner in the laning phase.

A tank that can 1-shot towers if farmed enough.

How was sustain his identity?

  1. Hes not a tank

  2. he doesn't one shot towers unless he's farmed to unrealistic levels

  3. he doesn't do anything if he's not farmed at all

  4. his entire design is based on laning indefinitely through his sustain and build path rushing defense and CDR. This was fantastic for him when other top laners rushed tank items and he'd win out in wet noodle fights but now that fighters are good again and can buy a combination of offense and defense at the same time, he can't survive lane phase nor can he ever realistically trade with them.

  5. he's still suffering from so many direct and indirect nerfs since late season 3 and early season 4 but top laners were so trash overall, he was able to exist by default despite never really being a viable top Laner in competitive - and he never will be.

  6. the bias on these boards is hilarious. Syndra goes from a 54% winrate champion in s4 as having one of the most oppressive lane phases ever, rightfully gets nerfed and drops to a 45% winrate and people lose their shit and want her buffed back to her oppressive levels (she does need buffs, just nothing crazy). Nasus literally drops from 51% to 46% in ONE patch and people think that's fine.

Yea.. this... ALL of this.

What Riot does is this never ending cycle of buffing items and champs... which then hurts other champs who are not those champs/don't use their items. So then there is a new round of buffs/nerfs.

He got a crippling bug to his Q. I'm not freaking out about a champion losing a lot of their winrate because their main damage ability doesn't work right. It should be fixed, but it's not a balance problem (or at least, we have no evidence that it's a balance problem until the bug is fixed).

His Kit/ability to duel an actual fighter wont function without Sustain. He needs it, does he need 14% at level 1? Eh probably not, they need to revert all of these armor nerfs because he gets kited and melted in the first place, he very rarely shines.

The armor nerfs are fine and the only thing that buffing them would do is make fighters build 1 damage item and stack armor, returning them to their abusive state where they're unkillable and abusing base damages. Now they're actually building fighter items that grant them durability, but not tank-like durability.

If Nasus can't lane, there's literally no point in playing him.

"Fine after the armor nerfs" You are lying to yourself if you think it is fine. And Nasus barely wins lane anymore with all of these new champions/meta picks. Juggernauts, Fiora, GP and the classic counters such as Riven, Renekton, Olaf are all the things being played in the top lane, Nasus cannot beat those. And even if he does get ahead it is so easy to right click him as an adc, kite him while you team rips him to shreds with their damage and CC. Nasus was hit massively with these last patches especially the armor nerfs.

It was easy to kite him into oblivion before any of these armor changes. I'd still take all of those changes in exchange for deadmans plate because this item actually allows him to teamfight much better now - if he can get there. And he can't. Because his sustain got hit too hard with direct nerfs and Lifesteal quints being nerfed but like I said, it hadn't caught up to him because top laners sucked mostly and had no items aside the periods of AP top laners dominating, where it was suicide to pick Nasus into that anyway.

Him being kitable/killable in fights is fine, he always was and he always will be. That's never been the issue or an issue, it's what allows him to keep a lot of the things he has. The issue is that what reward do you get for attempting to lane with him right now? You still get beat out in teamfights until super late game and you can't split push because you can't duel since you're so far behind since you couldn't lane in the first place.
