Remember that 2018 ranked message we all got?

Ok sure but why··33 votes·3,398 views

"Due to the top of the ranked ladder shifting down, the vast majority of everyone will start off lower than their previous rank." Or something like that?

You know who the minority of people who haven't went down are? Every single person who plays Ranked for the first time.

They're still getting placed in Silver for their first time, and they're still making silver games really tedious and painful to endure. I used to be G2 before the preseason came out of nowhere and started fuckin' with my mmr. Then when I win 8 of my placements and get sent to S3! I think to myself, "Oh, I can get out of silver a second time!" And I probably eventually will! But holy SHIT. You have no idea how many games will have me dealing with an ADC who auto attacks minions in every single teamfight and says "Lol I'm using the attack-move function! Report this guy for toxicity, everyone!" Or someone equally as bad. When League turns into a team game, weak ass garbage like that will always tip the odds in one team's favor. This wouldn't be so bad if that didn't mean I personally had to deal with a whole team that has more items than me, as well! That's un-carryable! People can't carry that! Skill doesn't mean anything if the enemy team knows they can ignore your feeding ADC, Mid and Support just to cc-lock you as a tank for a good 10 seconds! Because in that time of you getting focused for 10 seconds, your ADC, mid, jungler and support will all simply refuse to do damage, and you'll end up just staight-up dying for nothing! And then once the late game shows up, that 7/1/10 score you worked your ass off for will turn into 7/2/10, and then 7/3/10, and then 7/10/10! Because no matter what you do, the odds are entirely against you!

So, why can't new players get sent straight to bronze for their placement matches without changing where their amount of wins takes them? Wouldn't you rather a good player carry in bronze for 10 games before getting sent to gold? That can't possibly be worse than an idiot absolutely RUINING 10 silver games and degrading the lives of 40 other people in the process before getting sent to bronze.

Me as rammus: Hey, botlane, stop pushing so I can gank and get us some easy kills.

"Lol, why, we're doing fine like this"

botlane gets double ganked and loses tower

/facepalm

I need to snowball carry my way out of this hellhole of an elo.

My friend was mid gold last season.

Ended up getting place silver 2 this season, not so bad right? After like 60 ranked matches he's in silver 1. Silver fucking 1.

I was in gold 2 at this time and tried to boost the match MMR by duoing with him to try and get him out of elo hell. I got myself demoted to gold 3.

Our jungler thought it would a good idea to solo Elder when the enemy team is besieging our nexus with all 3 inhibs down, no nexus turrets, and they have baron. That was just one of the games. Another was when my bot lane ended up 1/20 in 20 minutes.

He's quit league until people drop to their real ranks.

Thanks for raising awareness about this, I had no idea this was still going on, but it's frustrating and wrong nonetheless. Now I know. +1

My little brother is new to league. He's decent enough sometimes but got placed S3. he quickly dropped to bronze 2 where he somewhat belongs. at least there he's evenly matched most matches

Ok sure but why2 votes

And thanks to your little brother, HUNDREDS of people in silver have lost 20 lp. That's the imbalance Riot has implemented.

Omg I had to log in because this had me laughing all the way through because I can relate. Even tho i'm in bronze. But B1 is close enough to silver so I can comment.

In my recent games and I kid you not. I would have a tank nasus running in circles. Literally back forth back forth. Not taking tower, not attacking tower, not hitting minions, not helping me fight literally running in fucking circles. His excuse was "no mana" people forget AUTO ATTACKS WORK even if he landed 3 AUTO ATTACKS on the tower with say 50 damage. That's 150 damage that could have been on the tower in the time he was running around. Seeing I was there for awhile. Could have even been 300 damage with 6 attacks. But instead he runs in actual circles. Then leaves after I died.

Im like wow THANKS for taking for me

i finished last season as platinum 2,won 4 games and got p2 out of s8 placements, and atm im d4.Idk why is it so hard for you to climb if you got a much lower rank than usual...lol

Ok sure but why11 votes

#Potentially bronze players don't get placed in platinum mmr for their first 10 games. You're not getting potentially bronze players on your platinum team 70% of the time.

Silver doesn't even exist anymore because of them. Everyone is either Bronze or Gold, and everyone who plays a Silver game is working their hardest to climb or fall to one of them.

I ended last season on gold 5 0lp. I was placed in gold 5. I'm done for the season, and also not placed lower.

I don't get it either.

I haven't played much ranked this season, but I got up to bronze 3 last season before I stopped playing ranked

I did my placements for this seasons, I went 6-4 and I got placed in silver 4 and the highest I've ever been is silver 3 so I have no idea how that even happened.

Wait a second. Do people get auto placed in silver when they do their first placements? I know i was placed in silver in my first season

Yep

Not necessarily, my friend was placed into Bronze II when he went 6/4 in his first ever placements.

Silver is a mess, the skill difference between players is surreal. I mean 1 game enemy team.cant buy a pink ward or even use trinket wards the very next every one buys pink, my jungle warded up to base

I'm sorry this happened to you :C In my humble opinion, the change we need is games need to prioritize equal ladder rank. Ive seen games witha 200 mmr gap between the highest and lowest players. Rito has stated that every game has a 50% +/-1% chance for each team to win. The games prioritize a random outcome over everyone being as equal ladder rank as possible. Pardon my french but its fucked up.

Solution:

  • Look at Norms mmr and use that as the baseline when doing ranked placements
  • Bronze V if 20 or less games played on norms post level 17
  • remove level restriction on matchmaking post level 17 and set average normal mmr to bronze I

my god it's like im good at the game or something

Win 6/10 in placement, placed in bronze 4. But now I climb to silver 2 now.

I was plat 5. Played 10 games on my brother account and won all of them. He went to plat 2. ''Lower ranks''

My brother was placed into b3 this season despite ending at s4 last season. He then went on his smurf account, got to lvl 30, ranked for the first time on that account and got placed into g2, not even kidding. I however ended on s2 last year and got placed into s4 this year. So far I've been to s3 10 times (counted) and to s5 6 times. Silver wasn't this garbage last year. [sg-janna]
