RIOT WTF IS THIS? Your promos matchmaking is GARBAGE

Game 2 of my promos from gold 5 to gold 4.

I understand this is flex queue and not solo queue, but still - you would expect some semblance of balanced matchmaking.

Enemy team: Plat 2, Plat 3, Gold 4, Gold 4, Gold 5

My team: Gold 5, Gold 5, Silver 4, Silver 5, Bronze 1

Like seriously - how am I supposed to win that game?

The saddest thing is that we WERE winning - but they were capable of stalling to late game and despite huge advantages bronze and silver players are going to throw to plat players. Could not get my team to stop running down mid and take one of the open side lane inhibs (we had all 3 inhibs open, mid inhib taken). Could not get my team to not get caught trying to keep vision at baron when I had bot lane pushing (and our bot lane minions actually took their inhib and almost a nexus tower as they ended the game after winning the fight - all we had to do was stay back from Baron for another 30sec and they'd have been forced to respond bot lane).

But most importantly - why do I consistently have to win games that a diamond player would have difficulty winning in order to get promotions in gold? This seems to be TOTAL BS.

Their promos matchmaking is working as intended. They have nothing to fix because they WANT it to work like that.

Dont worry, they will give 0 fcks about your post. They are too busy wondering why there is so much toxicity in this game.... so hard to guess tbh. What could make people so toxic in this game? I cant figure it out :( maybe it's the aliens.

Your comment made me snicker so much.

Have an upvote on me ^.^ You need to write more amazingly funny and sarcastic remarks about Riot's bullsh--.

I digress. My promotional matches from Bronze 2 to Bronze 1 went as followed: Their team: Dia5, Plat3, Silver4, Silver2, Silver1 My team: Silver1, Silver4, Silver5, Bronze2 (me), Bronze5 47 - 12 says it all. Big fat loss.

Their team: Master1 (What the fuck?!), Dia5, Dia4, Bronze5, Bronze2 My team: Bronze3, Bronze3, Bronze2, Bronze2 (me), Bronze1 39 - 0 because why not. Big fat perfect loss.

Well. Rank doesn't necessarily represent skill, but it gives a rough estimate. Match Making matches you with players with the same MMR. So either your team is good or the enemy team is on a losing streak

It is also a good learning experience

Wrong!

Matchmaking doesnt match you with people with the same MMR. It takes into account 2 things, your mmr and your raw number of victories (i.e. progresssion).

So if two people have the same mmr, and one has better progression than the other, the matchmaking will not match them together. That's the reason why people with good progression/streaks are fucked so hard in their asses.

You would be right, except I'm playing flex queue and using ranked solo queue ranks to express skill level here.

Which is why it's out of whack, but the complaint I'm making is that it's egregiously out of whack during a promo series. Having everything from high plat to bronze in the same game is awful enough - having all the highest ranks on the same team is even worse. Then the fact that the game was incredibly close despite that is sickening (i.e. those of us playing well in that game deserve to climb).

It's just disgusting that it seems to consistently happen in promos.

Here's the third game of that same series: My team: Me (gold 5), with a gold 1, gold 2, gold 5, and a silver 3. Enemy team: Diamond 4, Diamond 5, Plat 5, Gold 4, Gold 5

Again - how is this fair at all? It's disgusting.

Then - we actually won. I won lane against the plat 5 and exerted pressure elsewhere, and our gold 1 jungle significantly out-played their gold 5 jungle. We both camped bot and kept their dia4/dia5 bot lane from getting anything on our gold 5 / silver 3 bot lane. Their jungle went top more and got their top laner fed, but our top laner was Garen so it didn't matter he was behind. At least in this instance we had an advantage somewhere so we could pull something out of it though (i.e. we had a good jungler to make up for the huge overall rank discrepancy).

At the end of the day though, winning that game required out macro-ing a team with two diamond players on it when no one on our team was even platinum. That's not at all fair for a player trying to get from gold 5 to gold 4.
