"First Time" Ranked
Whenever a player decides to play a champion for the first time ever in ranked, they aren't just hurting their team, they are hurting themselves.
This includes champions that have undergone gamplay updates. The champion you knew and loved afterward is no longer the same, it is a different champion altogether.
Players hurt themselves by going first time anything in ranked because they tend to perform poorly more often than not. This tends to result in a loss and the performance of the player causes their MMR to take a hit. Players who stubbornly continue first timing anything in ranked often ruin their own MMR and receive so little LP for any victory achieved that they ended up doing the most harm to themselves.
Well what's one game? It doesn't matter, does it? It doesn't matter if you do not care about your rank, your MMR, and your end of game LP gains and losses. It doesn't matter if you don't mind wasting up to an hour or more of your own time to try something out you could have tested in Normals.
So, before testing something out in ranked, try and remember the risk you are taking and the damage you could possibly cause yourself. It will take you time to recover from mistakes like that.
