Is Yasuo suppose to counter Aurelion Sol?

Burnt Light··17 votes·44,375 views

Been noticing people often picking him against me when I play Aurelion. I usually play fine since I'm use to the over abundance of Yasuo players, but is he suppose to be Sol's counter?

Flying in for input! AurelionSol So Sol's ult and stars go _through _ Yas's wind-wall and Braum's shield, making the match-up a little easier. Even so, it is a hard match-up, but it's definitely manageable.

In lane against Yasuo, if you find yourself behind, clear with your W and roam to other lanes with E.

When it comes to team-fights, make sure to kite back against him. You get pretty tanky with Aurelion Sol, so with a little finesse (and Rylai's), you can keep yourself alive, and Yas away and stunned.

A fun trick you can do against Yas is detonating your Q before it hits the windwall. If it's big enough, it will stun Yasuo even behind the wall.

Overall, while I think Yasuo is a hard matchup for Sol, it's not his worst, and there is a lot of things you can do to make it easier. :3

That sounds like a bug tbh.

If a Nami tidal wave touched the windwall by 1 pixel, the whole thing stops... So Sol's Q should not be able to go through it just because "it's big"

I don't think it's a bug if a Rioter mentions it and doesn't say something along the lines of "this was unintended, so don't get used to it".

Logically it's still not a bug. The wall stops projectiles, not the effects of a projectile. The effect of the detonation isn't a projectile.

WhatAGeinius7 votes

The AoE from the detonation is able to go through if it's large enough because it's not a projectile. It's not a bug.

If Aurelion Sol ult goes through walls, Nami ult should as well.

Nami's ult functions like a projectile so it is blocked.

So Sol's stars go through Yas's wind-wall

Well that's just bullshit to be honest.

Why? They aren't projectiles.

EXACTLY, IMO they should go through but do no dmg for .75 / .5 sec after passive through yasuo's W

Mirkhail7 votes

no they shouldn't, they aren't normal projectiles

Stephenizgod2 votes

Uh why? they are not projectiles. Yasuo's wind wall already blocks enough stuff that it shouldn't, so its a good thing he doesn't get to block Aurelion Sol's passive.

PDE5 Inhib1 votes

Point being that entire ults are blocked by his bullshit, but new champ gotta sell so it bypasses it.

What are the stars considered if not projectiles?

Stephenizgod1 votes

Consider it an AoE DoT, similar to that of Karthus or Mundo, but the hitbox is only in a small circle and the time in between the damage is a lot longer.

PDE5 Inhib1 votes

Still doesn't make sense. Orb swinging around isn't a projectile... I think Mundo's AoE is always there...the little circles are just animations, but not the actual damage. That's why I don't think the same applies to them.

Zoxuul1 votes

Do diana's shiled obrs pass through yasuo's walls? if they DO then sol's stars should too, if they DONT then... well whatcha gonna do, its happening anyways lol

PDE5 Inhib1 votes

No clue if hers do lol. And I'm not gonna do anything because I haven't played either champ xD

Some people don't have a life and waste probably a good hour just downvoting.

A lot of those people down at GD.

Well, consider aurelion sol's weaknesses:

  1. He has extremely low dmg output if the enemy can get within melee range of him/stay outside the hitbox of his passive.
  2. He's very immobile - meaning if he gets caught, hes easy to kill if you have the damage.
  3. His kit is so predictable if you have vision of him.

Yasuo has so much mobility so he can easily E on the creep wave to bypass aurelion's passive. His windwall can easily block aurelion's Q AND ult. Aurelion is pretty much boned if yasuo can gap close. Also,if you're an aurelion sol vs a yasuo, your attempted flanks with a charged up Q are easily thwarted if yasuo is there with his allies. He simply needs to windwall upon seeing the projectile and direction of it and now we have a useless aurelion sol who just dove into the enemy team.

Yas honestly counters every champ in the game. His kit allows him to outplay anyone.

Handin Out Naps2 votes

I wouldn't go that far...

Lugg2 votes

I would, he was literally designed to be able to go against any champion and have a good chance at winning.

Handin Out Naps2 votes

Darius, Renekton, Fiora, Nasus, Malzahar, Diana, Fizz are just a few close to impossible matchups, unless your opponent is just terrible. There are a lot of bad matchups but he has a slight chance to win some of them.

Lugg2 votes

Yasuo's armor shred from his ult lets him beat or go even against the fighters. Malz is nothing once you have QSS. Diana and Fizz are skill matchups.

And those are probably the best counters to him, that's why he's so strong.

Darius can make Yasuo completely and utterly useless. I actually like to go darius mid when I see a yasuo pick. The only time yasuo can ever beat darius 1v1 is pre level 3 with the dash mobility and what not. Once they both unlock their full combos outside of ult, darius stomps yasuo's face in so hard it hurts me to see it. Yasuo's windwall blocks absolutely nothing making that useless, and outside of Q poking yasuo cant do anything because dashing anywhere near darius is suicidal.

Yet Yasuo is a super safe pick because even if you shit on him all laning phase his never becomes obselete and will retain the power to turn the game all the way through it no matter how far behind he falls.

Darius however is a suicidal pick if you don't have a comp that complenets his weaknessess and will more or less get kited to death lategame. Lategame Yasuo will just ignore Darius who can't keep up with his mobility at all and decimate his team instead.

Singed is just gonna... Sit there and stare at you as you say that. And then proceed to stomp Yasuo into a fine paste because the matchup is so hilariously one-sided.

I'd imagine he could, considering Sol tends to fare poorly against people who can get in his face, and Yasuo is pretty good at that.

It blocks the stuns, not the orbiting starts though. At least, I don't think, I can't imagine how they'd respawn.

It blocks the stun entirely. The orbiting stars however cannot be blocked and apparently Sol's ultimate can also break through it too as I was able to in my last game.

Orbiting stars, no. Stun, yes.

Gigahappytown1 votes

a yasuo with good reactions could theoretically block both aurlion sol's q and r but its very unlikely since both those abilitys are very hard to avoid at close range and the latter is flat out impossible to avoid regardless of range.

The main reason to pick yasuo is that aurelion sols q has no counterplay when he sends it down midlane and flys with it, it becomes far too large to avoid and becomes a guaranteed engage braum also works to counter that

The Deckowner2 votes

pretty sure r cant be blocked by windwall because it is a laser

It can, but not reactively. Its too fast.
