Why do people get upset about being placed low?

If you truly are the rank you were before the reset, you should get back there in no time. Easy wins are pretty fun to breeze through, too. I was gold last season and got placed bronze 1 due to bad placements, and now I've won 16 of my past 20 games and it's fun as hell.

Enjoy yourselves, folks.

It hurts their pride.

The reason why people are upset is because it isn't an accurate measure of mastery and skill, for example i just finished my provisionals and won 7 of 10 games, however i was bronze 3 at the end of season 5. This being said when you win that many games and in my case carried 2 or 3 of the ones i won it seems common sense that improvement was made. Therefore being placed in bronze 5 after winning so much and truly proving skill to now be stuck in what is the worst tier of the worst elo is quite frankly ridiculous. So that is why people are "Upset".

Everyone drops every season with only a very small number of exceptions. You are already at the bottom of the barrel in bronze. There isn't much of a difference between Bronze 3 and bronze 5. Just a number. Not sure why 2 divisions really matters. Plat players falling to bronze/silver is a much bigger problem than bronze players falling a couple of divisions.

I'm not angry that i'm still bronze i'm angry that i'm lower than I've ever been before despite clearly improving. When you improve you shouldn't go lower. I understand that dropping entire divisions is far worse than dropping 2 tiers, but clearly something is wrong when you get a majority of wins and get lower.

In addition to this now when people are on my team and look up the ranks on websites like op.gg or lolnexus they are automatically going to assume that i am bad and if i die one god forsaken time its "Why am i always placed with these bronze 5 noobs" or "report for feeding"

There is nothing wrong at all. They made this year a harder reset than most so EVERYONE is falling a lot farther. Is it fair that Plat+ are knocked 2 leagues down? I mean clearly they have proven much more in terms of improvement.

There are a ton of factors on top of the rests that matter and to spend the time to tell you everything is a bit much for me to type out on the boards. I'll tell you that the number of games you win or lose are a small part of the calculation. It has very little to do with total win/losses and a lot more with other outside factors.

I understand that i am trash , that isn't the point. But i am curious what these outside factors are, because I did have a fairly good kda for most of my placements and won many of them so other than kda and wins what is factored in?

First off KDA has 0 to do with anything. It never was or is a factor. No matter if you go 0/9 or 9/0 you get the same LP gains or losses.

Factors that contribute are:

  1. Riots reset value. Typically that was roughly 1200 MMR which is roughly the average league players MMR. I suspect that its rather lower than this because of the way placements have been.

  2. performance in the preseason. If your MMR increased in the preseason you don't take as large of a hit. The opposite is also true.

  3. The order of your placements. Winning 7/10 matches matters very little overall. You seed better with a record of 7 straight wins and then 3 losses than if you lose 3 straight and then win 7 straight. Each of your placements has diminishing weight on importance.

  4. Your opponents. The opponents you play against also matter, but a lot of this is affected by the above and is a smaller factor.

  5. Your previous rank. Probably the second biggest one on here in terms of relevance. Obviously a Challenger player seeds higher than a bronze player regardless of placement matches.

because "well at least im not bronze" no longer applies to them, and what they've been insulting their silver 5 buddies for months with now applies directly to them, its just the stigma that bronze has its like "im now the worst player in league" but im not! what about all those people below me? well too bad, they're with you now.

people cant be bothered to wait and play more games to regain what they were and really show that that guy whos 10/40 and really is bronze 5, vs you who got placed in b3 by the new system but you played together, you instead go 35/20 and now you're b1 or s5 again.

nope, takes too long, better to just go QQ on the forums.

Too much effort to get back to where they were. Also, Boosters have to spend money again, so when they're inevitably perma'd they can come on the boards and talk about spending said money.
