I'm seeing more champions than I probably should taking Thunderlords

I'm seeing everyone from mages like Anivia and Xerath using it, bruisers and tanks like Renekton and Zac. And it has crazy high burst on these characters too.

Do you think this is healthy or not? I'm just asking for an opinion.

Until riot gives burst champions an alternative, they're gonna take thunderlords. It's simply the most reliable keystone to take right now if you just want more damage.

Wait, why would you not take it on mages like Xerath?

I perhaps worded my point poorly. I'm confused as to why I'm seeing characters who aren't mages such as Renekton take it.

Yeah, Renekton seems weird. Why would you want to go that far into cunning, when the other tress are much better for the champ?

Why? The cunning tree offers you more penetration , more damage when enemies get low , more sustain from cookies (the bonus amount of Health Regen is worth), and Thunderlord's decree offers you much more burst than any other mastery in this game.

I don't see why, as a champion that wants to snowball hard , wouldn't you take the highest damage rewarding masteries. I would go 12-18-0 for full damage.

Well I use Thunderlord on Quinn , so I get your point. The problem is that with DFT nerfed to the ground and being too situational (magic damage that only procs on spells) has made Thunderlord's a much better choice, why? because it procs on AA's too. In the other hand Stormraider is just a lame choice, it has no flats number to get an advantage and in the early game it is just too hard to proc... and well, Blessing is just for supports, so you get the point (we need more Keystones)

**Solution: **Make DFT proc on autos, make it deal true damage, reduce the damage a bit, make it last 3.5 seconds on Autos (Twitch and Darius mains have wet dreams about this).

Its the only viable option if +You don't cast spell every 5 seconds for DFT. +You don't have 2.5 IAS for fervor. +You don't have crit. +You're not a tank.

auto attacks procs it too.

...You forgot Stormraiders.

Personally I believe assassins should take Stormraiders. They never had too much of a problem before Thunderlords, and they don't need it now.

They lost quite a bit of stats with the new mastery.

Besides, they have not had an issue sticking to target before, they still don't.

I'm talking about getting away. 30% isn't a kill.

Most assassins already had a build-in escape (Zed/LB/Talon/Kat/Khaz)

For few people who have to 'walk' out of a fight (Fizz/Kass/Akali), Thunder gives you dmg which would let you save the dash.

It matters of preferences ofc.

It's not only for mages, that's why it has a bonus AD ratio.

It is simply the most reliably effective option.

Though top lane is dominated by Grasp.

It procs on both, auto attacks and spells, meaning champions who use a combination of both will do alot of damage to target. As well, most mages tend to do damage with aoe spells, and Deathfire touch does less dmg to targets when a aoe spell was used. I use it Sona, Lux, Xerath, Azir, etc mages who tend to do combos for high damage output.

DFT is actually stronger on DoT, because it only does the 'reduced' damage once the burn stops. On the other hand, DFT has too terrible scaling that I couldn't even notice it.

Though, the mastery tooltip says it does half damage for aoe based spells if they hit in, thats kinda confusing me. Of course its stronger for DPS champions, but 3 + 10% ap for 1.5 seconds seem pretty weak for me instead of 10 + 10% ap

Its my personal opinion, but i had great results with it yo ¯_(ツ)_/¯
