Autoflll Que time and Support

I hear people saying auto-fill makes que times longer. and from personal experience at least in my elo.. when i que as any role EXCEPT support. my que times are pretty much ALWAYS 2-3 min. Exactly the same as it was before auto-fill.

However there IS one different i have noticed which i do NOT like. When i Que AS primary support instead of getting a game on 1-20 seconds.. it STILL takes 2-3 min.

Now... why is this? I understand that more people are getting auto-filled a support that that would lower the amount of games WAITING for a support i can get filled into. and i can see how this would slightly increase que time when putting primary. But i don't understand why it would take the SAME amount of the as if i didn't put support primary.

que times definitely are longer because of dodges, i had 3 dodges in a row yesterday. It was about 20 min inbetween games when i que up instantly after my first.

Yea I've noticed the same. If you get autofilled to a role you never play, do you risk a game lose worth of LP or just take the small hit for dodging? Then you also don't have to play a game in a role you don't like. Lucky for me my secondary is supp so these are not issues I deal with. The one remedy I've read that I really liked wat that you should be able to pick one role that you can't get autofilled into. I think that's a good compromise.

This was something Riot talked about doing but chose not to after some testing in one region. They did explain how the experiment should it did not meet the goals they had, but I do not have a link to that post. The gist of it was that it turned out that people would just mark the least desired role as "do not fill to", so the system provided little to no benefit over a "no autofill at all" approach.

I get that. Support is not the only role people are autofilled to though. So if you put support as "do not fill to" you better know how to adc, and vise versa. I get that this somewhat counters the purpose of autofill, but I think it's entirely legitimate to be able to play only four of the five roles.
