The expectation of how hard one can solo carry to move up singular divisions is no longer realistic

I remember back when I started the game, solo carrying was 100% exactly what it meant, and was infinitely more possible than now. However, multiple changes over the course of the game since then have made solo carrying a lot harder (split pushers being nerfed, solo vision access being severely limited, general damage creep making teamfights shorter and more volatile), now this isn't bad in and of itself - team game after all - however in conjunction with the whole: "Her's some crappy teammates, 1v9 and you can have Silver 1" is likely going to gate most players who are below Plat (maybe even higher).

I have never reached Plat, however I have been called a smurf many a time, and I had a game recently on Azir in Silver 1, where the ACTUAL smurf Ezreal said to me: "You a Diamond smurf too?". That particular game him and I almost 2v9d. Almost. The enemy team was mostly plat and gold.

But simple fact is, when you are being matched with people who were specifically picked out to make the game harder for you, this meta doesn't leave much room for them to screw up, and I feel this is magnified in low elos (can't speak for higher elos - gold/silver trash remember), as people in lower elos for the most part don't understand how to play around a player (whoever the fed one is or carrying the teamfights), and have minimal macro focus and knowledge, constantly walking into ambushes and overextending without vision.

I understand the theory and reasoning behind handicapping as a "final test" (thought that still feels a bit bs when promos are a thing), but honestly I don't think this is fair. I don't pick meta (when I do it's a coincidence), and my mechanics are kinda garbage (so I basically have to 1 trick azir and talon), so even as late game 6 item Azir (rare), I really struggle in some of these games because I have to kill the tank, kill the carries, check their divers/assassins, track ults/spells, position borderline perfectly, and do all that before the enemy team cleans through my frontline.

Plat/diamond level or not, I'm not gonna carry a TF who walks into the enemy Kha when we all saw him heading that way 10 seconds earlier.

I'm totally fine with raising the level of my opponents OR gimping the level of my teammates, but doing both honestly just feels asinine.

Now let's put all the fun and jokes aside: do you genuinely believe that? Why and more importantly how would Riot do that?

Trust me, "even" plat players could absolutely roflstomp in silver, especially with Azir/Talon. Talon is probably easier as you can just snowball the whole map early but Azir can just kill everything just by having a higher farm and melting through everything. Sure, not every game can be one, but a difference of 1 league is actually huge.

It's impossible unless you think that Riot is really out there to ruin YOUR day.

you'd think so, but damnit I cs well, and if I am solo winning fights as azir pre 25 minutes, it's probably a game we weren't going to lose.

Talon is great at roflstomping, especially with how lethality was recent patches, but him being meta has kinda been a turn off for me, and I don't like first picking him anyways.

Look, what I am saying is that if you were able to play at plat level you would be at plat level. I am not judging you, but I really suggest you start focusing on your own mistakes. You don't need "near-perfect positioning" in silver, just be better than the rest.

I hope you don't mind the unsolicited advice, but try to focus only on Azir and just spam him every game. He is extremely demanding mechanically and I don't think you (or anyone below challenger for that matter) can afford to just play him casually while expecting good results. Whenever you lose just think about what you could've done better and do it better next game. Teammate baited you with a bad call? Your fault, you didn't need to follow. Be quicker and make the correct decision and spam ping it next time - you get the idea.

Best of luck I hope you'll have some less frustrating matches in the future.

I borderline am, but quite simply, it takes 3 items (minimum) before i can actually start carrying. The meta is not in my favour, and all this burst means i am outclassed early, so i try and farm as fast as i can, helping in teamfights that I know i can help in, and putting out as much poke and trying to control the lane as best as i can.

I consistently am among the top in damage dealt even in shorter games/lost ones, but getting the killing strike is difficult, and it's hard to capitilise on forcing the enemy out because i dont know where the jungler is.

Yep, shit is tough for Azir right now, but focusing on how hard it is doesn't help you. Focus on how to do it is much better.

sounds like something out of the korean advice subreddit

Nah, they'd say "just win" - I say, just try to optimize your performance rather than complaining about the one of your teammates.

yet some succeed season after season, season after season(he actually has the best unranked to diamond season ever).

I don't fully disagree with you, carrying feels harder then ever, especially if you are behind. However, I have learned that our minds are conditioned to feel this way. I also know that the compensated for climbing formula has always been in the game. As much as I hate the division based system. Even the old elo had this problem, you automatically got matched up in a way that the game considers fair, only by being better then your current mmr you will climb.
