In all seriousness, can we actually give doran's shield more reduction on ranged AAs
It'll make it so kennen and jayce can't just delete every melee champ from the laning phase

If you're going to play defensive, all of these starts give significantly more staying power and continue to be useful past level 1. Lol. I'm almost implying Doran's Shield is even useful at lvl 1. Hint: its not.

Doran's shield needs massive buffs.
What if it combined with doran's blade and ring to make the TRIDORAN?
That's actually not a terrible idea. Some sort of average, allrounder item that is affordable to most by midgame but outclassed and inefficient to most builds lategame.
It'll be Doran's Trinity xD

Even better yet, what if there was an upgrade that took 2000-3000 gold from the three that gave something insane like +10% bonus to every stat, +10% damage, +10% sustain, -10% cooldown on items and summoners,, -10% damage taken, -10% cast time and animation time, -10% recall time, and extra. Just an overall godmode item that costs an incredible amount but requires you to suffer with three components in your build before saving up 3000 and getting it. Increase your good stuff by 10% all around, reduces your suffering and wait by 10% all around.
reduces your suffering and wait by 10% all around.
We'll have to add -10% to queue times on that item then.

If you manage to somehow build that item while in queue, that's fine with me ;P
I agree! I love doran's shield but when the self-healing from cull or blade feel like they outshine the shield's damage reduction and regen....
Come on rito.
Yes please. Screw Quinn and Teemo.
I actually forgot about quinn lol
I think we forgot a certain ranged champ that's been popping up all over the place in top lane as of recent...

heres something to cheer you up
Ok we don't need more teemo blood, enough has been spilled for now.
NEVER ENOUGH TEEMO BLOOD

That's not a ranged champ, that's an abomination.
What if it gave in-combat regen based on damage received, and a higher amount against ranged? So it promotes getting to their face, and not just standing back and hoping to outregen their poke.
What exactly do you mean by "every melee champion"?

What exactly do you mean by "every melee champion"?
are also really good at fighting ranged champions.
can hold his own pretty well.
Fun fact is that Irelia also shits on all of them. I love that girl!
Gimme a champ Irelia doesn't shit on.

It is not that a good Irelia cannot with thee match-ups, but in all of them she can lose very hard. She can beat them, but she is not shitting on them the way she does with yasuo for example.
Source: I have a lot of Irelia games.
Okay, it was a joke question and it's true most of them are not advantageous for Irelia (I had Jax, Garen and Illaoi in mind). But I'm curious about Riven.
Riven is a squishy melee without a stupid ult to keep her alive (lookin' at you, Trynda), so she should be destroyed after the early levels, like Yasuo. Is it because Riven can outplay Irelia better than Yasuo can, or because the matchup is so volatile that if Irelia dies once early, she dies every time Riven comes back (assuming equal CS and no armor on Irelia)?
Actually, a decently played Irelia shits on Cho, Riven, Jax, and Vlad very, very hard early-mid. However, they do outscale her ability to fight them if built properly without really losing anything for it.
The rest pretty much dick her before mid-game, barring total outplays.
Riven and Jax are the true skill match-ups for Irelia. The outcome is all about the players skill and jungler presence and can go hard in any direction.
Cho packs a lot of damage while being very hard to kill. Again it is a skill match-up, but once Cho gets tanky Irelia cannot shit on him.
As for vlad - his sustain is pretty annoying and it, combined with his pool, can help him not get shit on by Irelia
I feel like this with coexistence with how popular tabis are would make a lot of top ranged champs a bit useless when those two items are rushed.
That's the point. If I decide to rush those two items and sacrifice my other core items, I should actually get something out of it.
Please.. that's only 1250 (800 earned) gold for ridiculous sustain against ranged top laners.
Would be kind of OP if you ask me.
Ok well what other kind of sustain can I get hmm? If I get pots you'll just continue to poke me down every time I try and get a minion, and if I buy life-steal its not like i'll ever get to utilize it, since once again, you'll just sit behind your creep wave and poke me into infinity. Meanwhile I'm having to sacrifice any sort of damage which only furthers my ability to retaliate. Also, once again, It's not like i'll get the chance to actually farm for that 800 gold, considering I wont be able to farm without losing a 5th of my health every time I move up to get a creep.
armor - which is also relatively cheap. I think you're severely underestimating what a chain vest and tabi boots does against a ranged champ.
Which will take quite a bit longer with that increased amount of gold spent, which puts me further behind regarding any item I can use to help me retaliate, which let's you snowball even further? That doesn't sound very smart frankly.
Also, no, I'm really not. Champions like gnar, kennan, and jayce, as well as others like Quinn, have an easy way to poke down champions to a point where either they're forced to let the wave push into the turret, costing them plenty of CS if they don't have an easy farming tool, or simply get poked down to a point where not only can they not farm, they're incredibly likely to just get all-in'd and killed at early levels, which puts them further behind, and so on, and so on. And this easy, effective harass? It's free. Because in general it's all auto attacks. God forbid you take ignite and cheese them even harder.
That's why simply waiting to buy a chain vest and tabis isn't an effective solution. Because by then its likely that you've been pushed out of lane multiple times, are down CS, and likely are down in levels, and your laner is snowballing, and likely has taken your turret and begun to roam.
EDIT- Oh, I also forgot to mention that buying armor does nothing for doran's shield's effectiveness, as its passive damage blocking is applied before damage reduction via armor.
riot probably is worried on supports abusing that like they did with dorans shield a couple seasons ago
Who cares
If it screws marksmen out of the meta that would be the first time since season 1.
that wouldn't be enough to screw them out of the meta anyway. Marksmen are valuable for more than just the laning phase.
Besides, the problem isn't even the fault of the marksmen, it's the stagnant meta and has been since Season 2.
In that marksmen are over powered as a class
but then you realize the ADC role has been in a bad spot for a while
They are still mandatory meaning they are not under powered at all.
They are mandatory because of their special strengths that is rarely seen in other classes, not because they are in a good spot.
Considering most tower takes are just pummeling it down and bullying out the enemy players regardless of which ADC, their 'special strengths' haven't really applied since season 2 or 3. Cait and Jinx are about the only exception nowadays. Notice how short ranged the majority of ADCs played now are.
So I completely disagree. They've been in a good spot for a long time.
Lane bully (since season 3 at least)? check
Strong mid-game, especially objectives? Check
Very strong late-game, with objective control amped up and incredible teamfight pressure? Check
Them being squishy doesn't put them in a bad spot, FYI. That's an itemization choice that, if you'd notice, high MMR players avoided being punished by via supports, sometimes even in the mid-lane.
Have you ever watched the difference in speed between an adc taking a tower and every other type of champion in the game?
Or the speed that they take neutral monsters over everyone else?
Their big strengths still exist and are still impactful.
I won't even go through the other statements, the only one you got right was lategame.
I'd also like to point out I am a very "high mmr player" I know how to avoid getting punished by a support.
You have not seen a Yi or Jax or Lich bane akali rush down a turret have you.
Literally the first comment I've seen on here that is 100% right. ADCs are stupid strong right now
Like why is Jhin allowed the build assassin Items and one shot me across the map? Why can adcs 3 auto me to death if ahead? They bitch about champs that counter them yet without these champs adcs are broken as fuck. They shit on rengar because it countered adcs lmao. Mean while jhin builds ghostblade duskblade and 1 shots me
even if you increased the reduction its not really going to do anything to jayce or kennen unless you buy multiple and waste your gold.
Except Doran's Shield is the only Doran's Item with a Unique passive, meaning buying more than one is just buying a health item that builds into nothing.
We could always revert to season 3 oh those were the good times. Long gone they are
R.I.P DFG
R.I.P DFGaren.
This will also make Caitlyn weak. ADCs will rush dorans just to withstand the poke.
They should not have a super easy time early game if they are the class with the best scaling in late game.
inc Doran's Shield start for supports. New meta gg. Look at what you've done OP.
only aggressive supports would take it like
and still it wouldn't be a first buy on other support because the lack of gold/healing,
would still be better. Supports might get it if they fall behind in lane.
