Why am I seeing Zed banned in like every game?

Since I started my placements, I have seen Zed banned like 90% of the time. I don't understand why this is, considering how hard it is to assassinate targets right now, what with everyone buying stopwatch, even ADC's and when you try to assassinate the enemy Tristana she simply jumps away and is shielded an insane amount by the Janna, giving the Trist enough times to kill you or something like that.

Zed is a healthy champion, and there is no denying that. It takes a lot of practise to do what he can do. He has a fair burst window, while also making his burst potential pretty damn high.

I don't see Zed as an overpowered champion at ALL, and I'm really confused to why I'm constantly seeing him banned. Is it OCE logic, or maybe because people in low elo are just scared and hate Zed, or could it be both? Is anyone else seeing Zed banned almost 100% of the time?

No idea actually, i think twitch is a better assassin than zed too tbh

Which is absolutely ridiculous because

  1. Twitch has stealth while Zed doesn't
  2. Twitch is ranged while Zed isn't
  3. Twitch doesn't really need abilities later on, Zed does

Am I the only one who misses when ACTUAL assassins were useful and not being dominated by Twitch/Vayne?

Zed is a very god mage killer, but when the meta is not focusing on mage power, it makes him more useless. I agree with you about twitch, he is much better and he scales into late game.

He is a great mage killer, in the lane phase at least. Then the enemy mage buys stopwatch, then into Zhonya's, then he pretty much can't do anything, since while the enemy is in stasis, their whole team has probably come to kill you. People don't notice this, but Zed can EASILY be countered by items. Now that Guardian Angel has AD, it makes it better than ever on ADC's and now even with stopwatch, Zed is becoming more and more useless.

Yes, he does poorly as the the game goes on. I love Zed tickles when I play tank and the game goes long.

Zed only kills people in lane too tbh. Hes pretty trash outside of lane. As an AP champ you can poke from a distance and unleash your whole combo see brand syndra etc but as zed its all in and in a meta where supports are literally roaming free.. i dont see a reason to pick zed OR talon. AP champs still get zhonyas and other good utility dmg items like hextech while duskblade requires to be unseen for the proc

He is very strong early and tends to get games snowballing. Late game he falls off like crazy. In general people get annoyed the F out of him one way or the other. Most mids will ban, because he can crush mid early. I often play Anivia which counters him pretty well, so I keep him from going nuts, but then he roams and kills everyone else. He also provides very little in team fights, so people do not always want them on their team.

So in essence, he gets banned because people hate soloing vs him, and people ban him because he doesn't help in a group.

He doesn't really fall off, it's just that most of his targets (Vayne, Twitch, Kog'Maw etc) become way too powerful and assassinate the Zed himself. Zed's damage still seems to be there even late game.

Early game he can still take on tanks. Late game he doesn't do jack crap to their meatiness + Zhonyas and stopwatches. Then you have tanks that can stop his dives and adcs that murder him, he does not do well the longer the game lasts.

It's a combination of his ultimate and his mobility.

Supports don't like him because either he gets fed and roams bot to detonate the ADC or he falls behind in lane, gets bored of mid and roams bot to detonate the ADC.

ADC's don't like him because of the above reasons.

Top don't like him because Zed wins by taking out the ADC in bot lane...repeatedly, and Top is too far distant to stop the ADC from feeding him.

Jungle don't like him because Mid is the shortest lane and his escape and slow make killing him difficult. Plus, Zed spends half the game out of mid anyway.

It's the solo Q mentality. In theory Janna is great at shielding and shutting down Zed, but why would you do that when you could play Blitzcrank and go for yolo grabs?

Here's my point: While strong tools to deal with Zed exist in the game, it requires people to actually play together, or pick some tanks and stuff. Assassins are very strong at punishing people for building squishy full damage comps, or playing for themselves and not the team. Both of which are exceptionally common in solo q.

So it's not necessarily that Zed is OP, it's that solo Q players see him as a fun gate. Like rather than learn strong champions and playing around champion select, they just ban the most viable assassins like Zed, Yas, Kat, and pick whatever the hell they want. Brand support, Quinn top, Teemo top, etc. It's what they feel they need to do to enable their off meta, self-centered style of play.

the only reason that he's so obnoxious to face in laning phase (like fizz, akali and orianna, but the first 2 have a low pick rate and orianna's kill pressure is not that strong if the player doesn't know what he's doing, and many pick her just because they want a safe-no interaction pick),he hit once W E Q and 60% of your HP are gone, manaless Q spam, hard to gank or kill in solo, forces you to build an item that you'd never want to build in early (item 3157) because it gives no mana/mana sustain (which mages needs so badly),low CDR,low AP and an active that takes ages for going off CD...

he's just annoying, and nobody wants to play against him
