With the nerf of MR and removal of Negatron cloak, I think it's safe to nerf AP's as well.

With it being next to impossible to get early MR against ap bullies in lane, and awkward builds paths coupled with nerfed aps and the removal of negatron cloak and the price increase of null magic mantle, I think it's safe to nerf the AP itemization here.

They can still stack endless AP at a cheap price with next to no alternatives to stack against damage, your only hope is to kill them before they kill you.

Uhh... You realize that the removal of negatron and the buff to null-magic means a net buff to MR right? It's easier to build things such as Abyssal Scepter because you don't need to back with 720g to get a negatron. Null-magic also got a raise in its MR, which means buying one is more efficient than previously. The removal of negatron only means that you need only pick up a null-magic or two to have EVERY MR item on your build path.

Thats not how it should be

Null magic is a cheap mr instant gratification while negatron built into bulk mr for bigger purchases

Now that negatron is out, you can't buy bulk MR anymore and forced to buy smaller mr for a higher price.

Being able to invalidate an AP champ with a single item was honestly really tiresome. "Oh, I'm vs Rumble top, let me back into Negatron and now he can't do jack to me." It was especially true for most people vs burst mages mid. Diana was the biggest offender, imo, of being able to go vs an AP assassin, back into negatron, and completely invalidate them for the rest of laning. Due to the nature of AP damage it's more bursty so making huge chunks of MR available makes everything rougher for them. Armor is healthy because AD damage is consistant, so reducing their dps by ~10% doesn't hurt nearly as hard as reducing a mage's burst by 10%, since they are completely without meaningful damage for a reasonable amount of time after they burn their kits.

When MR is good, mages are not. That's why in S2 most mids were champs who meshed well with stacking pen items, or had true damage like Ahri

The change made it easier to build MR in lane against APs, as null magic never used to build into anything decent except grail, in which case you were an AP too. Now it builds into all of the negatron items and is cheaper than negatron was, so you can build it more easily in lane.

they already nerfed the hell out of mana regen. when they patch the bug with chalice APs will be really terrible without blue buff =[

They still have Athenes for massive mana regen and Catalyst for both and stacking dorans rings for 8 mana kill and 6 mana per 5

athenes has been heavily nerfed. chalice and everything it builds into is currently bugged right now and returning 1.5% missing mana per second rather than 1.5% missing mana per 5 seconds. when they fix that bug then chalice will give about as much mana/5 as a morellonomicon. APs are getting absolutely screwed.

That still doesn't change that the item has three sources of mana regeneration coupled with dorans rings.

You can't spam as MUCH as you were before as if you had no mana, but you can still spam a hell of a lot more than you could without it.

Also, the issue with MR is in fights.

Mana regeneration is not enough to compensate, nobody in the game is gonna go from 100% mana to nothing in the fight, they are going to burst you and you will die because of the lack of MR

actually you would be surprised how quickly champions go OOM from simple waveclear.

also with 5 ranks in skills it only takes a champ like orianna 2 rotations of her abilities to be completely out of mana. typically negated by the old chalice passive since the regen was higher at lower amounts of mana, this let her reposition her ball frequently in fights.

now you could say "build a tear" but if you go tear + athenes then you're absolutely killing your early and mid game damage. it also cuts into other options such as zhonyas, void staff, and rabadons.

the nerf to mana regen is crippling, results in more passive play than ever and stalls certain champions entirely in lane; especially supports.
