Remember when people asked for Yasuo buffs?

May I know why? Can't even think why would anyone like to play against this champion.

Play Irelia Riven Chogath or any AD/AP bruisers against him and you will know why people think he is weak.

As a Yasuo main, Yasuo is only good against skill shot mages and ADCs. Yasuo can easily destroy an Ahri or Lux in lane because he can avoid their skill shots and hence not get 100-0'ed.

However, against burst mages (Annie ) or assassins (Talon), Yasuo gets deleted with no chance of retaliation. Wind Wall has been bugged since release to not block targeted spells at close range. This means that most burst mages can kill Yasuo as he tries to close the gap. (Even better if the burst damage doesn't need a projectile) Most assassins can also outright kill Yasuo before he kills them.

In the top lane, Yasuo simply gets out classed by most champions. Wind Wall is useless against an AD fighter, and Yasuo lacks the damage early to fight AP bruisers. Darius , Garen , and Jax can all easily beat Yasuo in lane. Yasuo is essentially laning with only 2 to 3 abilities against them. Yasuo will struggle to even put a dent in their health bar, while these fighters will steam roll Yasuo with their high base damage on their abilities.

Kassadin , Chogath , and Malphite can also win against Yasuo. Yasuo has a base 30 MR and extremely low base health despite being a melee champion. Yasuo simply can't trade back against these champions early game until he can get his core items.

That being said, when Yasuo does get a favorable match up, he gains an immense advantage. Against squishy ranged champions such as mini Gnar or Ezreal , Yasuo can negate most of their damage and delete them with his burst. As well, Yasuo snowballs extremely hard due to his double crit chance passive. When he does get ahead, it is almost impossible then to defeat him 1 v 1.

I think most people just want Riot to tone down his double critical chance passive. Perhaps it can be tied to Yasuo's ultimate level to kick in at a later time in game. In turn, Riot would buff Yasuo's combat stats against melee champions so he doesn't get stomped every time.

Just a reminder; Yasuo was a lot more powerful when he was just released. Imagine higher health, more MS, stronger passive shield, longer shield duration, passive shield recharging every 4 Sweeping Blade, stronger IE, and 300 to 400 damage per Sweeping blade at level 1. (Guaranteed first blood) Current Yasuo is actually quite sub-par compared to the monstrosity Riot released almost 2 years ago. When people complain about Yasuo, they often do so with that bad memory in mind.

I agree. I feel like Yasuo's kit is inherently designed as an anti-poke, similar to Irelia when she's played in mid lane. Against a poke mage, Yasuo excels in getting in their face with his multiple dashes (like Irelia) and destroying them since, of course, he's melee. The way to play against Yasuo is to beat him at the melee game, not try to outrange him.

I feel like Yasuo's kit is a little bit frustrating though, because no matter how well you position in lane, he's practically guaranteed to get into your face and out-trade you, but he's definitely not overpowered by any stretch of the imagination and people complaining about him aren't saying he's OP so much as that he's somewhat annoying to play against if you aren't melee.

Nonsense. Full build Yasuo destroys everyone, especially if he has another champion that has knockups on his team. I've literally watched a full build Yasuo destroy a full build Malphite in seconds late game (alone). If Malphite can't withstand his damage than no one can.

I'm not complaining about him though, because he does take skill to play and he's very manageable before he reaches late game. His late game is insane for sure though. There are very few champions, if any, that can match his late game.

I'd disagree. While Yasuo's late-game is godly, especially against tanks like Malphite due to his 50% bonus armor pen, a full build Jax shits on him. AP assassins also do great due to him not having scaling MR unless he builds a defensive item or two.

DarthSpectrum2 votes

Pretty much what SYPHER40 said.

As a Yasuo main, here are a couple champions that can beat Yasuo late game. Jax Nasus (AS slows hurts Q as well) Garen Darius Gangplank (Eats Orange so he can't be ulted, and he 2 shots Yasuo) Malzahar Chogath Fiora Riven Olaf Shyvana just to list a few.

Most AP assassins can beat Yasuo before he gets to retaliate. Some ADCs such as Vayne and Quinn have 50/50 fights against Yasuo.

He isn't OP 1 v 1 except against skill shot champions, he is just OP in a team fight due to Wind Wall and his ultimate.

Only reason people bitch about Yasuo so much is that he counters quite a few community favorite mid picks, like lux as an example. They yolo que into him, get destroyed and QQ about it. It's not that he is OP, he just counters many popular picks. xP

So you can't pick any skillshot mage mid if yasuo is open , because you will get extremely hard countered

Correct. Cause hard counters, they happen. To everyone :). Sorry if you have to get used to it. And there are mages that counter Yasuo, such as annie, Azir, Diana. So stop being a dick about it and l2p.

Azir doesn't counter Yasuo. He can snowball easily on him early on Hard counters happen uh? Yasuo is a hard counter to every single skillshot retaliant mage.

DogIsGod6 votes

Azir shits on Yasuo.

Faded Lich4 votes

Azir destroys Yasuo lol. Sorry, but that kinda solidify my position that you and people like you don't know a damn thing you're talking about and you rather just bitch and moan about someone who happens to counter some of your favorites.

DarthSpectrum2 votes

Here is why Azir counters Yasuo:

Yasuo E's in, eats a Shurima Shuffle to the face. Yasuo ults in, eats a Shrima Shuffle to the face.

Of course, that is if he make it pass the soldiers applying the slow debuff from Rylais.

There are actually a lot of champions that counters Yasuo far worse than he does to any skill shot mages. Chogath, Annie , and Malzahar are some of them. Yasuo has absolutely no chance against them. They just 100-0 him in one combo while he is CC'ed.

Devack The Holy1 votes

Also, Xerath can sit back and Q him and the whole wave, since it's a penetrating ss, which the wall doesn't block.

A.) Azir shits on Yasuo. This is a pretty well known fact to mains of either of the two champions.

B.) Correct. So use non-skilshot reliant ones, some example being the two suggested. Another good one is swain.

Didn't we nerf Kass and other silence-inflicting champs because they were hard counters?

Hmmmmmm

Incorrect. Kass was nerfed due to the fact he was used constantly in pro play while proving overly oppressive at every skill level, while equally being near impossible to balance, even without his silence which is why he is in the current state he is in. If anything, one could argue it was his mobility much more his silence that lead to his nerf.

Talon's Silence was nerfed not due to the fact it countered spell casters but due to the fact he could 100-0 before the silence even wore off, making counter play impossible. He still very clearly has his silence and still very clearly hard counters many casters, save for a few exceptions and his silence is still part of that, even in it's nerfed state.

Rammus still hard counters ADCs

Fizz still hard counters low-range laners

Morgana still hard counters most mage-lanes

Galio STILL hard counters AP

etc, etc, etc. I could keep going but this would take awhile. Hard counters are fine and are still abundantly in the game, sorry to tell you. Your reasoning is completely off and Yasuo has plenty of counter play, seeing as his entire character is designed around maneuvering and "outplaying" the enemy. Yas is fine. You might not like him because he counters your favorite champions but that proves nothing beyond your own bias.

Have a good day.

idoki6 votes

He's fine now. As someone who plays him from time to time, I will admit he can be annoying, but he does have his weaknesses. What's weird is that the fact that item 3087 's crit was nerfed allowed him to build item 3078. Because now you get: 20% crit from item 3078 (10 x 2 = 20) + 40% from item 3031 (20 x 2 = 40) + 40% from item 3087 (20 x 2 = 40) = Total: 100% crit WITHOUT CRIT RUNES. Now you can change the crit runes you had in your rune page that were used to get 100% crit to AD or AS, which means he got buffed indirectly.

Edit: people who downvote even though I'm contributing to the discussion... Nice.

Trinity is not bad, but I would rather build item 3142

Save for the Sheen procs, you get almost everything you would have from Trinity. But you don't waste any stat and it offers CDR. Plus, it is cheaper!

Cdr is worthless on yas tho

A Miss Fortune1 votes

So many Yasuo players are building Trinity Force over Shiv/Infinity as a first item now, It's weird.

It's the same with Vayne and Lucian players too oddly.

Did I miss a stealth buff to Tri Force before Worlds

Tannhäuser Gate1 votes

It should be shiv into Triforce for yasuo

Slamurai Jack1 votes

I never saw running crit runes in lane as a weakness. Give me 20% crit over 8.5 AD any day.

As for Yasuo's power level, he was pretty shit when they cut his base HP and MS, but they gave him an extremely strong buff in 4.21 that made him solid again. The shield change was also a decent buff for good Yasuo players and finally bugfixing his Q was also nice. No more buffs though please.

Akali is SO HOT5 votes

Because he was completely gutted after Riot was done milking him. For whatever reason they decided to make his 3rd Q proc on hit effects because it was a "bug" even though it had been in the game for well over a year which made him a little better instead of fixing his 10000 other bugs. I'll play him anyway so I don't really care.

i prefer to lane against yasuo than Zed Azir Orianna Ahri

all day all long

Because he is insanely fun to play, which is why he always has a high pickrate regardless of his balance state. People just want to have fun while also being able to actually win games.

WolfChases3 votes

I would rather lane against Yasuo Zed and Katarina than against Azir Fizz Leblanc

And Lulu ...yes a God damn Lulu she's not OP but she's annoying like hell!

ForgottenLuck1 votes

I will give you azir but I personally would choose any of the other 3 than yas, kat and zed

WolfChases1 votes

It's just a personal opinion. I have ~500 Zed games and he's an IZI PIZI for me because I know literally every inch of his kit. In the other hand, I hate Le Blanc's instant blinks that deals tons of damage, Fizz's Trickster, Lulus poke and safety and tankyness and Azir's self peel, range and retarded sustained damage and poke :D

Zed is so easy for me to the point that I simply can't understand why some people hate him so much unless they are playing champions that are completely countered by Zed. But for example, personally I have no problems against him evem when I am playing Twisted Fate whos considered as a Zed's bitch.

Aikki3 votes

I've hated Yasuo since release, and I continue to hate him now. Even though he doesn't seem overpowered anymore. Fuck Yasuo. c:

A Miss Fortune4 votes

He's not fun to fight at all even if he isn't overpowered. If you don't play versus him perfectly in every aspect you could play perfectly, he's going to beat you down and take relatively no damage back with his combo of dashing in with his shield, chunking your health, and dashing away with his wind wall to take significantly less damage. He's frustrating to play against and it doesn't help he has an overloaded kit. Wait, how many passives does he have again?

Narasimha3 votes

Can't even think why would anyone like to play against this champion.

Because (wait for it..) it's actually fun to play against one. Beating a Yasuo feels GOOD. It actually feels like you've outplayed him.

On the other hand, beating someone like Caitlyn doesn't mean anything. You can't outplay someone who doesn't have a significant playmaking capacity.

Oh, look, I'm not the only person who enjoys facing Yasuo and views it as a challenge instead of some unstoppable force.

he is pretty weak if he falls behind and the later the game goes on the harder he becomes which is why he is semi-more reliant on ally knockups later on

I love how his wall blocks even every other ult in the game. Like yeah that's totally acceptable that a yasou can force you to waste a CD + mana with one of his first abilities ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Well braum has the same sort of thing ( though it's not as wide ) and theres a lot of champs that have dodges and invincibility

mainly any champ that has a passive that saves them like aatrox or zac

but also champs like fizz and vlad

(then there's psuedo saves like bard ult)

ABlueQuaker2 votes

Yasuo isn't even threatening to an AD Carry if your Support is half decent. His 3rd Q is perfectly dodge-able and if he tries to E->Q you for his knockup, your support can quite easily peel him off you.
