I've played her a few times. And it is possible to lose lane with her. Try laning against Darius and you'll know what I mean right away. Darius may be her 100% hardest counter to be honest.

Riven can beat Darius, mainly due to shield, life steal, and her CC. Garen, Renek, and Kennen are probably the best counters to Riven, maybe Liss too but I'm not sure, though a very experienced Riven can do well and snowball in any matchup.

I've seen quite a few Rivens lose lane. I've also noticed that she's not all that popular in higher elo's despite not being a "pick or ban" champion like Katarina.

She is definitely capable of snowballing like crazy, but teams that build armor early and don't feed her can often just focus her down. She has no health regen, poor armor and without items to boost her AD can't make the most use of her abilities.

And I agree with Relevantex, the constant "nerf Riven" threads are pathetic.

I mean, of all the reasons Riven's design is poor, you chose a couple of the things about her that are perfectly fine. They nerfed down most of the horrible design elements anyhow.
