A Zed who steals farm and doesn't buy an income item is a support

According to people who think playing a fighter/assassin when you're autofilled support isn't a punishable offense. Think for just a moment and you'll realize that makes no sense at all.

You got autofilled because you didn't want to pay ONE game of Support to get the autofill protection. That's on you. Don't try to say that your form of breaking the rules isn't breaking the rules just because it's you.

Edit: I just want people to understand that just because you don't think you're breaking the rules doesn't mean you're justified in doing so. Ignorance is never an excuse. And I don't want you getting rightfully punished for being ignorant of the fact your personal feelings don't change that this is a team game where you've preemptively agreed to play as a team when you queue up. If you want to play a solo game, go play something else. You don't have the right to steal a role just because you don't like that you were autofilled.

There are two different definitions for the term support and it is important to make that distinction clear.

The first definition is a certain archetype of champion who specializes in making an ally stronger. This includes most of the traditional enchanters and can be played in all 3 lanes.

The second definition is the role which signifies the champion that goes bot lane and gets less farm priority. This includes many archetypes including but not limited to marksmen, mages, enchanters, tanks, bruisers, assassins.

When you get autofilled, you are put into the second definition.

No second deifinition is somthong you made up like the role is called fucking support since you have to help your team so by picking things that are not supports with out your teams consent you are just greifing them that is not a option that is a fact.

No, both definitions are accurate. He's defining the Support Class (which competes with Mage/Assassin/Fighter/Tank/Marksman Classes for how a champion is defined) and the Support Position (which competes with Top/Jungle/Mid/Bot). You can play the Support Position without a champion from the Support Class (see Blitzcrank, Brand, and Vel'koz as examples).

Doesn't mean the Zed in the OP's example wasn't being a fool or jeopardizing his team for the sake of their pride, but the definitions are right.

sorry I should of made my point more clear thats my bad. My point was you cant play anthing in the support position thats why I said the 2nd definition was wrong since you have to do the job of the position, the support position is there to support your team, so if your picking somthing like zed you are not doing the job of the position since he only does damage whereas pyke who can build similar to zed can play the position since he was peel, cc, and engage. I think this is hopefully a better explanation of my point.

You're a bit mistaken, too. The Support "class" is not limited only to Enchanters. Blitzcrank and the other tank supports are classified as Guardians. Rather than %Heal/Shield items, they buy Locket, Knight's Vow, etc. The way you're explaining it is as if support only refers to Enchanters.

There are three basic sub-categories of supports, not including Pyke who is an outlier: Guardians (tank supports, either further categorized as "Catchers" or "Vanguards"), Enchanters (healing/shielding/buffing supports), and certain mages with access to hard CC.

Assassins who don't have Pyke's CC and gold sharing ability are not included.

I never said the Support Class was limited to Enchanters. I simply said that the first definition fit the Support Class, and that Blitzcrank lacks the support class tag.

Besides, Blitzcrank is a catcher, not a guardian.

No, it's named as such because the role is intrinsically linked to the position. Otherwise it would be called "secondary bot" or something of that sort. Your second definition is completely false.

So... Your definition of support is a champion specifically made for the support role? You should be ashamed of your narrow mindedness.

Theres three kinds of supports;

  1. Enchanters (Healers/buffers)
  2. Tanks (Leona, Braum, etc)
  3. Kill lane (Non-traditional supports who focus on dealing damage) Kill lane supports are niche, require skill and a good matchup - you dont want zed against karma or lulu for example.

Your pigeonholing aside, the player youre bitching about most definitely was awful and deserved a report. Any champion can full the support role as long as they get the ward item; ive played Ekko support games where i get the upgraded STE then go directly into lich bane to start roaming and counter jungling (Always staying near the bot lane because its my job to babysit my marksman, though).

No, I didn't say that. Nor did I imply it. In fact, you assuming so shows you didn't even bother to read the entire TITLE of my post. Wheren I say, "steals farm and doesn't buy an income item."

And no, not any champion can fulfill the role. Aside from incredibly niche situatons, if your damage-dealing support isn't a relatively long-ranged with some form of hard CC or root, they're not fit for the role.

You're almost correct on your labeling of supports. It's Enchanters, Guardians, and certain Mages-- Pyke being an outlier because he was specifically designed for the role, as he has two forms of hard CC and an ability that makes him stealing a kill grant full gold value so as not to hinder his allies.
