Concerns Regarding PBE Balancing Approach This Cycle
So LB is apparently getting the stuffing smashed out of her W because she "doesn't make meaningful choices when maxing abilities" (
).
The implication therein, is that she has too much mobility (
).
Too much damage early that scales decently into late even without too much investment (
).
And her windows of weakness have become significantly blurred than they used to (
).
See Riot, I honestly had a heart attack when I first saw those nerfs yesterday. Once I'd calmed down a little and thought about it, I actually liked them (kinda). Leading a new cycle with the extreme cases of how/what you want to nerf on a champion I feel is a much better approach than being too cautious, and missing or overshooting the mark, leaving the problem unresolved for another 3 weeks, as you have ample time to change (the changes will either be too radical, and obviously need to be toned down, slightly harsh and need minor adjustment, or god forbid what circumstance caused it to be just right).
My concern however is that you. Have. Favourites.
And you seem to be settling into the direction youre taking with LB given how you ADVANCED on the same nerfs further. I'm not going to sit here and pretend that LB doesn't deserve to be nerfed. I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I know more about balancing the game than you do. But I remember the outrage I felt when you nerfed Azir, then buffed Lee Sin giving the exact same reasoning for both. And that is unreasonable.
I'm trying to stay optimistic that this PBE cycle is a change in your approach to utilise the PBE more, and resolve problems faster, albeit with more potential risk. But your past habits keep lurking in the back of my mind, and I frankly wouldn't give a damn if every player played Lee Sin bar one, popularity should not influence balance (before I get it, I'm talking about popularity, not pick rate), and that further extends to you.
Here is an extract I found in 30 seconds by googling: "Using your position for personal gain" "An employee may not use his public office for his own private gain or for that of persons or organizations with which he is associated personally. An employee's position or title should not be used to coerce; to endorse any product, service or enterprise; or to give the appearance of governmental sanction. An employee may use his official title and stationery only in response to a request for a reference or recommendation for someone he has dealt with in Federal employment or someone he is recommending for Federal employment."

Your reasoning for being lenient with Lee should be because you truly believe you think he is balanced, not because: "we like him" - it's unethical.
is just an overloaded champion. You could remove any one of her abilities, even her passive or her ult entirely, and she would still be viable in the mid lane. If Riot just understood that, they can focus on making simpler champs that aren't a nightmare to balance for soloQ and LCS level competition. This isn't about "favoritism" it is just because they don't like the same champs in LCS being banned over and over
and played over and over
. Hoping that 10 bans would give them more leeway with balancing OP champions, they are now stuck with having to balance more and more variables that come into the game. Rift Herald? First Tower? Random Dragons? Now they are struggling to play wack-a-mole with a nerf bat to all the champ reworks, item reworks, new mechanics and new champs they keep going along with and seamlessly ignoring PBE and pro player suggestions.
are always going to be at the top of Riot's watch list for every patch they do since they all have very few weaknesses, a stupid combination of damage, CC and utility, and have to be constantly trimmed down with nerfs to keep them inline with the rest of the roster for both casual and LCS.
