As far as I know normal MMR does not reset. Most veterans have their normal MMR sitting at mid Silver to low Gold. Their MMR sits at such levels because most veterans used normals to hit lv 30 to rush ranked.

Also you should be happy that you get matched against better players. Playing against and with better players helps to make you a better player.

Or a crying player, because I like to play against better players than me since its only normal game.

I mean it's part of the experience. For players that just don't like to lose they can just play bot games.

If the difference is so high, you are too much under pressure to learn anything, I've dealt with that.

I played consistently against and with diamond players during my first 3-ish years of league. Never felt any different. I was hard stuck bronze during that time. Even played against a lot of smurfs too in ranked. Well, that was back when you could lower your ELO without any big draw backs. Which was way worse than compared with today's smurfs.

Maybe you're mechanically very good and don't see the difference, I'm older than 30 years old, my reflexes are shit, I feel the difference so much, adn besides, I otp a very simple and predictable champ, so I have so few tools to outplay that It's even more noticeable.

Okay, maybe I should've said this first. From a casual standpoint yes, it is very frustrating to play against. From a standpoint where you are trying to play competitively, as in you want to climb ranks etc. etc., it is beneficial.

If you just want to avoid higher skilled players altogether you can play ARAM. There you usually get people who are average at the game. Along with that since it is ARAM a lot of them don't understand their champions and won't play as well.

Either that or play bot or custom games with friends.

You might not see it as a backhanded comment, but It is, you're missing my point.

Let me give you an example: I play mostly Shen top and jg, I know his good and bad points in both positions, now, I remember 2 matches I've played vs high elo players while I was just playing my first ranked season and got silver II.

Top Yasuo when it was meta, I always played vs him, and it's never been a problem, but I played a diamond top yasuo who one tricked him. He absolutely destroyed a silver yasuo, I couldn't even grasp what to do. One thing is to play vs a better player, and learn while losing, and another is to completely get ass blasted by one.

Same with Shaco. I run Shen jg, I've deal with Shaco many times before, I'm familiar with counterjunglers, early invades, clear speeds, etc. with most junglers. But you don't learn anything when you don't have any camps to farm, you are being camped to oblivion and your team loses every fight you are forced to partake or you miss completely because a Shaco made his next 30 minutes goal to make you forget the reasons to live.

It's not about playing competitively, is playing vs a level of pressure that doesn't even give you the chance to learn from it. Specially when you're low elo.

I mean, if that's really your issue then it's a matter of mentality.

You have to play proactively rather than reactively. If you're just waiting on them to make a move without preemptively thinking ahead of what you should and shouldn't be doing then yes, you will have a hard time. This is the mentality that very, very many high elo players have.

In the immortal words of Trick2G, "You're not playing the game. The game is playing you. If you'd just take 2 seconds to think you'd win more games and stop strugglin'."

No. To get better you need to play against players who are slightly better than you, not mile better. If you are just going to get shit on over and over and not understand what they are doing, then you don’t learn anything

I'm plat and have played against diamonds it isnt hard. I'm more concerned with the gold and silver players that have to suffer. That entire sentence is pretentious and idiotic. I hope you get diamonds who stomp on you every single game and see how much you enjoy it

I literally have a reply that said I played for 3 years straight against and with diamonds as a bronze player...

Probably a lot more people are playing normals after season ended. And since normal MMR =/= ranked MMR matchmaking is all fucked up.

Ranked mmr is fine tho

Happening to me as well. Cool game. Riot once said "having a game be fair is the most important. period." ex fuggin dee

thehero0123 bad1 votes

Go to a ranked game if you want a fair game normals are just for fun. One game you will get silvers and gold's and the other you will get diamonds

Satire ??

I rather have gold silver and bronze players on my team. Plat and above gives up the moment something doesn't go their way. Then they proceed to be toxic but will still continue to play and say my team is keeping me trap here.

Moonscourge1 votes

That's not how matchmaking works. What you're seeing is simply more higher ranked people playing normals now that ranked no longer matters until preseason officially starts.

Normal games have always had their own MMR, which is why I would play against Golds as well despite being Diamond myself, since I haven't played them too much.

Pika Fox1 votes

Literally not how that works. Normal MMR does not take into account ranked MMR. Theyre 2 different queues.

Succubús GF1 votes

Right so diamonds should stomp on low elo for funsies. Sounds right

Pika Fox1 votes

Normal MMR =/= Ranked MMR. Being diamond in ranked means nothing for normal. Thats NOT how queues work.

I have found normal mmr crazier for new accounts lol. Leveling up a couple other accounts in past seasons and I would play a lot of diamond/plat players. It probably makes sense as I win a bunch of my first games then don't have that many games played so mmr fairly high. But on this account my mmr is like solid mid silver lol. Think it finally went up a bit but.... I have hardly played norms since like season 3. A few games each season with friends but this first season I have actually played some normal games solo. I just hate ranked experience so much in season 8... sometimes feels better to just fuck around in norms.

I mean... I only gold 3-4 last 3ish seasons so nothing crazy but did feel weird playing norms and average player rank be like silver 4 for awhile. Now it seems like I mostly play gold players but have been winning a lot so maybe normal mmr went up a bit? I usually don't look at ranks in norms since people usually fucking around and playing off role especially in blind pick.
