"Mobility Creep"

List of champs who didn't get a dash on their rework

Evelynn Gangplank Mordekaiser Malzahar Sion Ryze Swain Taric Yorick Vladimir and now Nunu

Some of them where minor reworks and some major. I just think the "mobility creep" hysteria blows the situation out of proportion to a degree. Not saying there hasn't been a creep... just not as much as some make it seem.

People don't consider power budgets, ranged vs melee or difficulty level.

And about the power budget: People always just bring up the fact that an immobile champion can't escape as well as a mobile champ. That's absolutely true. This doesn't change the fact that a lot of champs with dashes tend to be melee champions aside from a few Ahri Urgot Lucian Graves Ezreal They also trade things like hard cc, defense, comparable range, and their ult.

If you're playing an immobile champion, you are usually trading immobility for range, aoe, aoe cc or extreme late game power. Look at Karthus ffs. This guys R targets every enemy champion on the field from anywhere; even from fountain. Talk about safety. That's madness. If he was a recently released champ people would lose their shit. He also has aoe CC and aoe damage in his Q and E. He's even expected to die, having an after-death passive. Anivia is also a good example. Lots of AOE and a revive passive (expected to not get away).

Also, do we include champions like Garen Hecarim or any champ with decent movement speed uptime as having "mobility"? They're able to return to lane faster than plenty of champions with dashes btw.

There is an idea of balance. I think people just use knee-jerk reactions to what they see/experience in a recent game and want to complain (I do the same thing from time to time).

I just don't think there is real consideration for how these champions are made.

But Nunu did get a dash... He can wall hop now.

Evelynn got a dash too... Gangplank got movement speed. Mordekaiser got movement speed. Sion ulti added mobility. Ryze got movement speed AND a teleport.

Warwick Got more movement speed more ulti range and a mini dash. Galio Lost movement speed but gained a dash and a teleport. Katarina Gained movement speed and better dashes. Akali gained asstons of mobility. Irelia gained mobility. Talon ...need I say more?

You are just plain wrong. Mobility is more than just "can it dash?"

Keep in mind that most of these changes have only happened in the last couple of years.

Ahri without her ult is pretty immobile, I hate when people compare her with Leblanc or Fizz, who are far more mobile than Ahri ever can be. .2% movement speed every 10 seconds if she hits 2 abilities is not comparable imo.

Some of those reworks are quite old. I think people take into account more recent stuff. From the 8 latest champions pretty much Ornn is the only one that's more "grounded"

Also mobility is not only how far a champion can get, but also how elusive they are in fights. Kaisa Xayah Rakan Zoe Pyke Kayn ^ This goon squad is very effective at hit and run tactics, kiting and repositioning is no problem, and that can be pretty polarizing when they are against older champs like Karthus who needs the opponent to be close or have consistent movement to predict and land Q's

Taric and Yoric were reworked when I still played before my LoL vacation, and that's a long time ago in the lifespan of an ever changing game, and to me it was really apparent that mobility has been greatly pushed in recent times.

i also want to remind that Akali rework removed her a blink (old W) and made 1 of her 3 dashes unreliant

same goes for Aatrox, his E range is not even comparable with the old Q unstoppable dash, both of them ended up having less mobility than pre-rework

Eve's ult blinks her backwards, but it's not MUCH mobility.

Remove Evelynn from that list, she actually has a dash, empowered whiplash is actually a dash (and is also treated as an enhanced basic attack), though very short ranged.

Eve empowered e is technically a (pretty short) dash, and it follows blinks and dashes like ww q

comparable range

Thats so false. Nowadays high range means close to nothing since almost every champ that has dash or blink has also a threat range (lets call this threat range, the radius where he can hurt you) that quite literally invalidates your range. For example, lets say im facing lb with my xerath, even if i keep my distance and her w doesnt damage me, she can still use her e or q (and then her ulti ofc) to deal me shittons of damage. Oh and then blink back.

Now this shit is a bit unfair. I pay immobility and squishiness for range. Yet she can get close to me so fast AND still deal me a lot of dmg.
