Another patch and still no Sona buffs/changes

I get it she is not super high priority, but come on can we please give Sona a better early game. Now i don't just mean make her do a ton of damage or make her have such insane heals your allies never die. I'm talking stuff like high enough damage to pressure but not control a lane; high enough healing that one auto doesn't negate your heal/shield; low enough cooldowns that she she wins a war of attrition not just "HUGE POKE". But most of all what i would love to see if Sona better filling the enhancer role. I'm talking shit like flat buffs to AD/AP when Q aura is up and allies STAY INSIDE IT, Lifesteal/ spell vamp while W is up, her E gives bonus attack speed (or if we want to go a little crazy maybe it gives CDR). I'm talking a Sona that justifies her weak early game. A Sona that doesn't get into the end game and start chunking enemies with 1K+ damage blasts every 2 seconds thanks to her passive(s) and item 3100 . A Sona that doesn't get to end game and keep her allies safe and topped off from anything less then a full multi champion dive. A mid line Sona who's strength comes from the sizeable power boosts she can give her allies, without ever having the safety of back line nuker or the risks of a front line glass cannon mage.

Basically i want one of two things. Either a better early game where Sona can actually help her ally in lane even at the cost of a worse late game; OR a total retooling of Sona into a pure Utility support

And her win rate in the 0 25 mins is like 42-44%, with a sub 3% play rate. Amazing isn't it. It's almost like if you read the post you would know that i'm talking about her early game.

Sona doesn't need a buff. Are you really serious? That power chord is OP...

The power cord is garbage. A fact you might know if you played Sona.

Your slow isn't strong enough to help secure a kill most of the time (or enough to keep an enemy from running down you/ your ally), what with gap closers, stuns, or better slows being on a huge chunk of the cast now.

The damage down sounds great. Hope you are in range, have your passive up, don't plan to cast anything else till you auto attack, are close enough that the travel time doesn't fail to negate 90% of the damage you were trying to use it against.

On top of the fact that your cooldowns mean you get 1 shot at having the ability up when you need it, since not many fights last 10+ seconds for you to recast your heal.

The fact she isn't getting one means Riot must agree with me eh?

No, it simply means they are focusing on something else. Lissandra's passive also isn't getting any rework but it doesn't mean it's in a good state.

It's possible. But if they did change her, would you admit you were wrong?

The point stands that i think she is in a really shitty spot early game. She is an aura support with shitty auras, she is a support with no powerful support skills for the first half(ish) of the game, and her late game usually turns her into a spam happy mage rather then a "traditional" support.

You're probably that guy that wants to take her mid lane and murder everyone, sorry man it doesn't go like that, or at least it doesn't anymore. I cannot see any reason she needs a buff.

It was kind of fun when she was semi viable in the mid lane. But that doesn't change the fact that her early game is painfully weak. I wish i could find stats on her "power level" compared to other supports around the 10-15 min mark (since the difference in strength between a champion at 15 min and a champion at 25 is insanely high). Heck i'd also love to get the data on what the average length of game is for none pro games.

Sona has long been in a weird place she hasn't been strong in quite some time. And since she isn't doing 1000% god awful at all points in the game, no one wants to touch her. Problem with that is that the game is getting faster (Sona is a mid to late game champion), champions are doing more damage (Sona is squishy as they come, and will lose the damage trade), champions are getting more built in sustain (Sona's poke no longer pressures the lane). And with Sona not getting any buffs to compensate, she is getting a worse and worse early game.

Win rates are also super weird. In a vacuum a champion with a 53% win rate is "too strong" and a champion with a 46% win rate is "too weak". But if you add in the info that the 54% champion is only played by a very very small handful of people "mains" and the 45% champion is the flavor of the month, you might then decide that the first one might not be strong enough and the second one might be too strong. What about win rates based on time of game length? Does it matter that a champion has a win rate that is 60%+ in games that go to 40 mins, if the average games ends by the 24 min mark?

i think the main reason why they haven't tried anything with her in a while is that she is an aura champ one of the reasons why they reworked taric locket and removed that one support item that gave life steal and ad to nearby allies

That is my issue with her. She is an aura champion who's auras are REALLY REALLY bad.

10-30 (+30% AP ratio) bonus magic damage on next auto attack is not an impressive aura (remember that it doesn't work on structures so it's not even good for quicker tower destruction).

10-14% (+6% AP ratio) bonus movement speed for 3 seconds. is only impressive VERY late game when you have maxed it out and have a ton of AP to boost the bonus.

The damage aura isn't strong enough to help secure a kill, and since it's limited to a single auto attack it's painfully easy to waste the bonus hitting a minion or hold on to it for too long and it disappears.

The movement speed aura isn't much better. +30-ish movement speed for 3 seconds sounds great... now all you need is your ally to be close enough to get the buff without you having to run to them, the enemy being close enough that you are running them down rather then chasing after them, the enemy being weak enough to actually run rather then fight you, and no creep block / terrain to run around. Finally have the mana to be able to cast the movement speed buff without risking running out of mana for your damage and heals. remember you only get one shot at this since the boost has a 12 second cooldown.

Sure these abilities are ok later when Sona is going to have 300+ AP, full CDR, and the bonus cooldown reduction from her ultimate. But they do jack all in the early game when you don't have the AP to make the ratio worth something, you don't have the CDR to off set your 8-12 second cooldowns, and you don't have your ultimate for the stun or the bonus CDR. A bonus 8-20 damage once every 8 seconds isn't noticeable to anyone

I said this in another post, but basically all Sona really needs right now is compensation buffs for the nerfs she received as a result of her synergy with certain runes, which have since also been nerfed.
