Learning GP, have a question

Am I correct that this guy is legitimately useless pre-13? No one stands in a barrel chain long enough to hit it on that pre-13 timer unless you snuck one into a bush while they weren't looking, and his base damage isn't that hot.

I've gotten GP on Aram and a few times and I know this dude can shred later on, just didn't expect the early game to be this rough on SR.

You have to put two barrels out then shoot the barrel while its exploding drop the 3 barrel into the enemy team.

It's an excellent zoning and farming tool. You don't necessarily have to hit the enemy every single time with the barrel.

No champion stands in a barrel chain long enough to hit it, but minions do. His laning phase is actually really good because he can very safely clear waves from long range and has Oranges if they try to all-in you. Combined with the bonus gold you get if your Q-barrel clears a wave you can outscale almost every matchup without too much risk. You're just very unlikely to actually get a kill.

HuzzyGames and Dyrus are both good Gangplank players. I've been trying to learn him myself recently and they are the ones I'm watching.

I find it's easier to use barrels to discourage farming or engaging. I generally try to keep one beside me within melee range; if they get too close to my minions, I'll drop a second barrel on them and detonate the one beside me with an autoattack or Q.

It seems to help if you primarily farm with autoattacks and just hit them with Q off-cooldown (for the sweet, sweet Bandit gold). You can wear them down until they are low enough that forcing a fight is risky for them.

I don't really bother trying to Q minions early; it's easier to accumulate gold later in the game when I can one-shot the wave and Q provides more Silver Serpents anyways. It seems better to use Q for trading and harass early (unless you would otherwise miss the farm).

From a gp main: your job is to zone and farm, if you set up a barrel chain as soon as its up, even if you hit the enemy with it, its not worth it. the point is too keep the enemy away from farm with the barrels and taking it all for yourself. later on throw a barrel, throw another near you enemy. explode the first barrel and put the third barrel in range of the enemy chanp, do it fast enough and you will almost always hit.

P.S. dont forget to ks bot lane with your ulti and thunderlords
