I love Blitzcrank but......

His Q is retarded , it's his entire kit, misses it well you have a useless generally squishy unless fed, support that does nothing besides a quick .5 second silence. Doesn't make sense to tie that much power into one ability. HIs entire kit is focused around his Q he doesn't land it, well its over.

Couldn't we rework it into his ult, making it slightly longer or faster but on like a 50-60 second cd? And rework Q slot into something new? He'll still be that bot that you must be in fear of being pulled, but he should offer more then that, not just hit or miss and then be shit.

????????????????????????

I agree on rework tho, if his ult becomes the hook it will have to pass through creeps.

He's actually fairly squishy, he just seems tanky since he gets fed a lot and builds a lot of a mana for his shield, and armor with it.

His natural stats are pretty low, sure. But he's not really built all that squishy. Usually an IBG, Talisman/Face, Mobi Boots and then any of the normal items tankier supports would buy (Locket, Frozen Heart, Randuin, Righteous Glory, Crucible, Deadman's Plate, etc).

I just think they should make it a tad slower or give it a tell that lets you know it's coming, like thresh has, but shorter, cuz the wind up on death sentence makes it so hard to land. I think his q is the most op ability in the game, as it makes him a one man cc death ball machine if you get hit with it. And if you are hit, it's over, your streak will end and you will die,.

Also, blitz isn't squish after early game. And he's not useless without q. He can e still, and w, and e and w together if he's just punching one target, it does a lot of damage. Also, his ult does a very significant amount of damage. If he doesn't have q he can use the passive if he's punching someone to hopefully do more damage, and the active on it deals a lode of damage, like, with ult and frost queens, which i've tried once or twice on blitz, he can pull, silence, knockup, exhaust and w to keep punching the adc and he will usually not have to punch it or even knock it up cuz he killed it with just the ult and pull. And the silence is more relevant than you'd think. It makes it so even when fizz gets pulled he doesn't get away. Like, when i play him in another role and he gets ahead at all, well, he becomes ridiculous, because the ult is on like a 23 second cooldown (like teemo's, coincidence?). He has a very strong hybrid build. with just a little ap, and a little ad, he can one shot people with his combo.

No offense, but I don't think you understand the point made by the original poster... It's not that Blitz is OP and needs a nerf. It's the opposite. Blitz is not in a good place compared to other supports, and the reason is that there is too much power loaded into his hook. They don't need to make his hook worse. Give him more options, because he's kind of a one trick pony. And, as much as I hate to be that guy, you're playing in Bronze.

I understood that op was saying he's a one trick pony. If he is, then I'd consider lee sin one too. His damage revolves around his q, and he can't fight without it, and if he misses it, then he's useless. Actually, with lee, exactly what op said is true. When lee misses his q, you have a not quite as useless squishy, who is usually squishy throughout the early game. Since he normally maxes q then w, his e damage is negligible. The displacement his ult provides is useful too, but actually easier to mess up than use really effectively. So all of what op said sort of applies to lee. Granted, lee has more mobility, but blitz isn't entirely immobile. The w is a powerful repositioning tool. Also, i'd argue without q and ult considered, if both for some reason only had access to their e and w, blitz can actually do more damage with his skills than lee. Is lee a one trick pony?

I was saying that he's not. Sure, the q sorta makes his kit, but, when his hook is on cd, he's not useless. He still is a body that can knock you up, punch you a lot, zap you with ult passive, and then hit you with the active for a decent amount of damage. He also is usually tanky. Just having a tank with an aa steroid sitting on a squishy who can't get away cuz the aa steroid is also a ms steroid is very strong. The silence can also stop escapes and do usually 1/4 of the carry's life in damage.. The carry is going to want to get away, even if they know the hook and ult are on cooldown.

And, by making his q worse, you could remove the slow from w, maybe have e do a little more damage and reduce its cooldown, and then you have a champ who's abilities are all "just as useful".

Also, what relevance does my rank have to this?

Franco Sanchez1 votes

Lee sin doesn't ONLY have his Q. Lee Sin is rarely built for damage, because his early game is strong, but he falls off super hard... So he might build a damage item or two, but he's more likely to build tanky, and try to isolate targets for his team to kill via "Insec", or dive into a backline onto carries, to make their life difficult. Also, I would take a gap closer/escape + shield over Blitz W any day. And I would take AoE magic damage that scales off of AD + a slow over Blitzcrank E any day. There really isn't an argument there... Lee's kit is overloaded, especially compared to Blitz.

The reason I mentioned your rank, is because bronze is mechanically not very good, including dodging skill shots. Blitzcrank's effectiveness drops as people are more competent at dodging or playing around a Blitz hook (shoving in hard, going aggressive every time the hook is on CD, etc). And I assumed that you have a hard time dodging Blitz hooks because you're wanting a "tell" or a slower missile speed. Which is nerfing the hook.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

I don't fail all the time dodging the hooks, my team does. Because of that I find blitz to be op, even if directly he doesn't cause my death and loss, indirectly he does because his hook is difficult to dodge if the blitz is half decent. He does this by feeding his team to the point that they out damage me or negate my damage by tankiness. I don't have to be grabbed for him to be op. There just has to be one or two guys on my team who don't know how to dodge blitz q's for blitz to be op. I just avoid blitz to avoid being grabbed, stay behind minions, and try to go in when it's on cd, even though the cd is relatively low. Hell, the nerf could be a meaningful cd at max rank.

I main Lee. I don't find him overloaded. Play him a bit jungle. Tell me about all the damage the e does. The slow is helpful, but, so is a knockup that deals Double your ad. A shield is helpful. If only blitz had one, like in his, i dunno, passive? Blitz ult is also on a 23 second cooldown, and the passive damage from it isn't really negligible. It can do a lot of damage. cooldowns are actually relatively close at max rank. Lee's are a little lower, but blitz offers much more hard cc. His primary displacement tool(q) is on a much shorter cooldown than lee(r). Probably the only think overloaded about lee is his mobility, his ability to run away and to chase, and therefore kite and outplay, is huge. But to do that right you have to be good. He doesn't out damage most champs in a fight without having a prior advantage. Lee gets built ad assassin. He also gets built ad bruiser and tank. In all those iterations, his q is the most of his damage besides his ult. On tank and bruiser, it's almost all his damage. Bruiser does give a little more damage on e, but it's not that huge, it's good for the slow. It's good for the cc. Blitz's e is better cc, it's a knockup. It does double your ad. Which means it's going to out damage Lee e if they both build ad bruiser, which is viable on blitz. So, it's single target. thats the balance for it. The blitz w is weaker than the lee w, but other parts of blitz kit make up for it. I really don't see how lee is overloaded compared to blitz.

Also, i think that by nerfing his q you could buff the rest of his kit. make e maybe have a ratio in addition to what it already does, and remove the slow from w maybe, or increase the aa steroid on it. Tweak the ult, though i think it could remain the same if the q was nerfed and the other two skills are buffed. This would accomplish op's goal as well.

Basically, i don't think he's a one trick pony who's damage and effectiveness revolves around his q. Maybe with certain squishier support builds it's a problem, but not usually. That said, i do think they should nerf his q and buff some of his other skills, as it would make him a better rounded champ, and make his non support builds more viable, while taking some of the power from support blitz, for whom the q is a bit too strong.

I don't actually know how you can say Blitz needs nerfs to his Q, and Lee Sin's kit isn't overloaded in the same breath. First, Blitzcrank's hook is expensive, high risk/high reward (if you miss, your teamfight presence is pretty-much non-existent), and has a pretty high CD (not sure why you think 16 sec is not a long CD). But hey, let's actually compare kits.

Blitzcrank:

  • Shield (90 second CD)
  • Displacement (hook)
  • Movement Speed Buff that decays, and eventually slows.
  • Knockup 2x AD
  • AoE silence

Lee Sin:

  • Attack speed steroid usable for 2 autos after every attack.
  • Ranged skill shot + Gap Closer/execute
  • Shield/Mobility + Spellvamp/Lifesteal
  • AoE magic damage that scales with AD and gives true sight + AoE slow
  • Displacement with a 200% AD ratio that knocks up on collision.

And that's just looking at skills, in a very basic sense. That doesn't account for Lee's lower CD's across the board, easier to manage resource pool, high base movement speeds, etc.

Blitz doesn't need nerfs. Blitz needs love.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

If you miss a hook and have no team fight presence because of it, you're playing blitz wrong. It is expensive, however, and i can see how that sort of balances it. I also never thought about how lee's resources are much easier to manage. The lee q also gives true sight. And blitz's q also stuns and is longer range, and has an ap ratio. You also forgot that blitz ult has an ap ratio, a passive, and that his w is also an attack speed steroid, and that blitz shield scales with mana. And that his aoe silence also does a large amount of damage. You managed to leave out a bunch of the extra stuff about blitz skills that make them good.

Lee isn't overloaded. He was once, but not really anymore.

and i wasn't saying he doesn't need love. I was just saying that when he gets the love, he needs to get his q nerfed and then his other stuff buffed. Then he'll remain a well balanced champ.

I don't think reworking his ult into his hook is the answer.... Blitz definitely needs some love, but that's not the way to give it to him. That hook is iconic to his identity, and to take it away, or rework it into something else? Not gonna go over well. And I can only imagine what kind of power they'd have to give his hook to compensate that change. Especially, as you said, that his kit is pretty underwhelming overall.

Something that might be neat, and could give Blitz a lot more versatility, is if they allowed him to disengage using his hook. AKA, if used against someone that is within a certain distance, actually pushing someone away. It could actually make him good for picks AND some disengage, when someone dives onto your Carry.

Blitzcrank really needs a rework for his entire kit, not just his ultimate. His entire kit makes him seem like a strong Top/Mid laner, with him having 100% AP/AD ratios on everything except his ult passive and having really high base damage but he's almost exclusively played a Support (Blitz Top/Mid is really strong though). He's a really toxic champion that can miss every grab, but the one time he does he immediately has the 30-0 enemy carry killed instantly with almost no counterplay. Broken, toxic, and his kit is kind of all over the place.
