@Riot: Sion support has one of the highest winrates in Korea.

I think it was even the highest for a while this season.

I mean, I'm not exactly complaining. Sion brings a lot of cc to the table so its not like it's any wonder why.

I was just wondering if support sion is sorta the direction he should be in or if this is something that should be looked at and toned down; reallocate his strengths back to top/jungle.

I think, and this is ofc just my opinion, that Sion wasn't ever truly designed as a support. His W passive specifically works at farming minions. Strength of the Ages seem to be whats keeping his foothold as support but still seems like its a wonky tradeoff.

You're essentially using a keystone mastery as a supplement for the unused passive already on his kit. Obviously this isn't slowing him down; It just seems a little clunky.

so you're saying make it to where people can only play support characters as support, and not who they and their team want as support? which is allowed? Sion is fine, and if you think he's a problem as support, you clearly haven't seen Illaoi support

You're putting words in my mouth. I never said any of that. I'm asking a question mostly.

I actually enjoy playing sion support. I just wanted to know if thats going to be his more defined/mainstream position now. If Riot now favors him as a support role as well and, if so, would his passive be changed?

I feel like he's peferctly fine, and needs no changes whatsoever, regardless of his role

Not really, of coarse CC can make about any champ a good support. But there's really not enough difference that makes Sion significantly more support. Support sion isn't significantly different than lane Sion, except for the item and level deficit.

There's no fundamental element that specifically makes him work in the Duo lane. (Compared to say trundle, where the minion deaths give him Health without needing to farm) Though if Riot did have to rebalance if his Support role was too oppresive, they could reduce the HP/per level, and put it on his passive HP scaling. requiring him to have more farm if they want more HP.

I hope not. His base HP is already really low for a tank.

I dont think so.

That's what I hope anyway...

Sion is fine as is, he's still very good in toplane and the jungle, but it's just easier to snowball botlane for the ADC with the amount of CC, tankiness, and damage Sion brings to the lane.

Which is why Sion support is booming.

If it keeps up then I'd be interested in seeing Sion support at Worlds.

Oh wait, they might nerf him then. Shit.

well sion can zone pretty decently and its his most reliable trait, makes it difficult to get to their adc

he has an armorshred, a short lasting one but its still nice to have. long range ult for roaming/ganks His poke is pretty good Has decntly high base damages and will, if he lands his skills, outtrade all the other supports and even your adc all the way into midgame untill they have at least 1½ items completed

Then there are some other things to consider

his passive is very strong in the early game when nobody has boots and movespeed items, which makes it dangerous to kill him after using your cc/mobility

He is difficult to deal with for melee supports and even ranged ones with shorter range then his Q Normally you can poke and trade but as support he can choose to only move forward when is zoning tools are offcooldown.

I think it's mostly not knowing how to deal with sion that is bumping up his winrate as support though

there are champions who can fuck him, alistar is a good pick into him he can disrupt his Q heal his poke bodyblock his ult then use his own ult to get out if needed. And he will outtank with more reliable engage to boot.

Imo Sion is just about perfect atm...

I haven't watched any Korean Sion supp so I can't speak much to it other than I've known it's been very good for a while but I do play a decent amount of Sion supp myself. It is certainly good when played well but I don't think it crowds out his top or jung play; I main him in the Jungle and that is where I am best at, but I can also play him top well enough. Hell... I can even mid and adc him just fine if the need arises.

All of which is to say that he is a solid pick because he is very good at what he does regardless of his position.

I can't claim to know the mind of Rito but I don't think they'l be doing much to him.
