Loving these 15-25 mins games. /s

I don't even play anymore, only nexus blitz for giggles. Can't bring myself to click play on summoners rift. I watch streams and 90% of games are just 15 mins go next ff's or the whole team gets one shot at 20-25 mins and it's gg. Nice game rito, that's why we all played this game for 4-5 years, because we want 0.4 secs kills and 15 mins games, amirite.

We win if Riot creates a LoL inspired MMO from the ashes of League.

deadlychuck2 votes

I mean to many players league is long dead and now they're just milking a dead cow.

Jashindo27 votes

Just wait. You think it is bad now, it'll only get worse. Not to be pessimistic but I don't think Riot will clamber down and pull LoL out of this hole it has been progressively sliding deeper into.

Season 14 - Both teams load in, a coin is tossed. Correct call wins. Each team has an even chance of winning, but players have more chance of winning depending on how much RP the player has spent on their account, if they are playing one of the flashy "never nerfed" fan-favorite champions and if they are wearing a prestige skin. There are over 250 champions at this point, only the same 10 are ever picked because they are the only "viable" options.

A 20-second auto-generated team fight plays out with the coin-flip winners being victorious. Ultra-flashy, really realistic. Super cool. Option to FF @ 5 seconds in.

nexus blitz isn't that much better, games can be over there after the 1st event has ended depending on the event type, where it spawned and the reward

It's more than a year that I don't play SR (except for some rare occasions when some of my friends come back to lol).

I endured this shitfest until ardent censer meta, then decided that there was no hope anymore and that it was not worth my time.

Pushing for shorter games is legitimate, even if I might despise it. What happened when LoL, however, was pure incompetence.

boricCentaur19 votes

The average game time is 31 mins in silver

Marshbouy1 votes

can confirm. play in the gold/silver level and games routinely go 35 min+

anything past 40 minutes long is usually hell for everyone involved.

DerPunkt1 votes

Yep. But they end on a coin flip it feels. Maybe I am just a bad player but recently I lose games... I can not wrap my head around. Leave lane as Jinx 8/1... los 11/7

Leave lane as jinx 8/0 los game 20/3 ... los game 20/7 los game 15/5...

as I said... maybe its me... But what can you do when an assassins just runs at you chases you over half the map and than ults you...

Marshbouy1 votes

it's been like this forever. It's the reason why the false idea of "elo hell" exists.

DerPunkt2 votes

Elaborate

Marshbouy2 votes

"win lane lose game" is not a new concept. People have been going 8/0 in lane and losing since the day this game came out. It's a team game and unfortunately you can't stop your opponents from feeding and being useless. No amount of reduced burst, comeback mechanics, or rune reverts is going to stop that from happening.

DerPunkt1 votes

Sure.

The only thing you can hope for is to balance the game around the fact that all roles and positions have the same chance to win the game after being fed. Unfortunatly for me. I feel like as ADC this is not the case atm. But might just be me and streak of unlucky games and me just always being bad on the point of actually carrying. I always assumed with being fed, the carrying part comes easier, but it does not. Carrying games seems much easier for me when I play from behind.

floo1 votes

Genuine answer? Get into a teamfight, a fed Jinx is deadly against multiple close targets. Make sure you have a frontline between you and your bigges threats. Keep vision around the battlefield to avoid getting flanked. Positioning is key, don't stand too open or you'll pop like a grape in <1s

DerPunkt1 votes

Make sure you have a frontline between you and your bigges threats.

this is the problem :-) I cannot really make my own front line. So for me its ->not join the fight at all and hope for picks after wards when everybody spend their CDs :D

floo1 votes

It's true, you have to depend on your team a little. But as an example: teamfights are usually poke battles until one player feels confident and goes for it or someone gets caught. If someone should go all in on you, stay close to your team to punish the engager. Otherwise try to poke as much as you can with correct positioning. As long as you stay behind your team and hit what's in range, you're most likely safe. Don't overestimate but also don't stay necessarily out of combat.

DerPunkt1 votes

I know you are right. And I know all this, but at the same time it is as helpful as saying somebody who just died -> Don't die.

If someone should go all in on you, stay close to your team to punish the engager.

If engaged on me, I am already dead If engeged on somebody else, we punish but if his/her team follows the same as in every timefight happens, either your team protects you (rare when they spend everything on punishing) or they engage while the other team does the same and go for you, the squishy. SO you run again

Otherwise try to poke as much as you can with correct positioning.

Until you get caught and this is not an exagertation, there are many champs against which you can not poke as an ADC you will get oneshot if you step in range, and your ranke is the same or shorter than their engage range most of the time. What protects you is your team and their fear to just trade kills. They want to win, not trade.

As long as you stay behind your team and hit what's in range,

This is impossible. Either my team takes freedmg (so i am in range to harras) or they stay out of range (what makes me unable to poke)

Again I know you are right. And in essence I agree, but this is how it feels right now to me. And I had plenty games where it just was no option to be anywhere close to the fight and it actually won us the fight that I wasn't there and chars like Jax held their spells in anticipation of me joinging in and just used them when it was to late for them since I never joined the fight.

floo1 votes

Yea I play mostly adc as well, I can tell it's not as easy to carry without being blown up by 3/4 of the roster. I'm just repeating myself here, but again, position is key. Attack when it's possible, but staying out of battle in fear of dying won't help your team. If you want I can add ya, maybe talk in pm. If so, copy my name tho, has a special character in it.

DerPunkt1 votes

Thanks for the offer, but not necessary. I know what you are talking about, I know the theory, heck I even can use it most of the time, just my recent games went horribly wrong. I climbed fast and fell faster. But thats life. Sometimes games are uncarriable right. Some teams just refuse to play around you, or even with you. You can be the best ADC in the world when the enemy just needs to blow you up and nobody helps you its over. You can not 1v5 assassins and bruisers.

Last games went better. So it all comes back again this is lol, this is life.

floo1 votes

Well yea, you win, you lose. Anyways, even if your team won't play with you, try to use them the best you can for sucess. Gl in the future

Nexus-Blitz was designed around being a fast paste rollercoaster. Ranked was not, but turned into it.

I am myself actually quite let down by Nexus Blitz. Hoping it was gonna be an actual "quicker" version of League and allow the original game to be turned back into a longer paste strategy game, I was really disappointed that ir turned into League of Parties.

deadlychuck3 votes

Yes, but it's precisely because you played the game for 4-5 years (I'm guessing you're speaking from a past prospective, because the game has been out for nearly 9 at this point) that they are actively changing the game in ways you don't like. They seem to be convinced that they can change the game in dramatic ways, and appeal to a wider audience without somehow completely disenfranchising and alienating the players that are already heavily invested in the game.

Sadly, reality is often disappointing. <Snaps away 50% of their playerbase>

I do not know if this has directly to do with this thread, but no one gets how phases of the games has to do with the amount of items you have and not the time. Different champs should be better with different amounts of items, but now everyone is huge damage so there really is only one phase so the game is faster and even if not technically sometimes, it feels that way. All the while competitive intensity mixed with a lot of randomness falls outside of most peoples' definition of fun.

Anchorit Wracaj2 votes

Yes...but what if we are above silver/gold? Diamond and up games are short.By minute 15,the winner is accurate, and there is no chance to comeback (because players wont make stupid mistakes like low elo players and let enemies comeback) We definnetly need to lower gold income per second, and lower the snowballing. This is just insane.

deadlychuck1 votes

There seems to be some misconception that the losing team will be inherently less likely to make mistakes than the winning team...

In low elo, while the winning team might be more prone to make mistakes, there's no reason to think that a player's ability to avoid making mistakes is any better than their ability to capitalizing on their opponent's mistakes. Especially considering that most of the time it's about recognizing mistakes, not necessarily making/acting on them. So the result is games that are drawn out, with the winner clearly established just as early, rather than games that might be recovered by the players in them.

GankedByWindows2 votes

I don't know where this keeps coming from. For the HUGE majority of the playerbase, that simply isn't true. For example, from my last 20 games at the time of posting, only 3 games were less than 25 minutes. And of those, none are below 20. It isn't even like I'm iron 4 and nobody knows what they're doing either. I can't speak for the highest end that streamers tend to be, but that is wholly irrelevant and not the experience for the overwhelming majority of players.

ModCaliCoastReplay2 votes

I feel like the game is less unbalanced than many on the boards think, but that's if and only if you prioritize low deaths and general denial of the enemy team's gold over the kind of yolo scrimming that players who don't watch pro games tend to favor.

As has been noted before, the game tends to be balanced around the pro scene - which has often caused issues at Silver and below. Pro games tend to involve as few deaths as possible. Pros who die 5 or more times during a game are absolutely stigmatized, and generally for good reason - at that point, you've probably offered up a good 2000 gold or better to the enemy team via your deaths and via the uncontested farming time given to your opponents, which is generally enough to get one or more enemy champions to an item powerspike ahead of you.

Back in low-ELO-land? I don't find it uncommon to see everyone on my team give up 5-10 deaths while I'm on 0-3 deaths, and at that point the game can certainly start to feel like an unwinnable shitshow. Even the pros can rarely come back from a 10k gold deficit or better.

TLDR: If you have good fundamentals - push behind your wave, avoid needless champion fights and early deaths, control river and jungle objectives, and remember that the game is far more about objectives than champion fights - the game will feel balanced, because that's exactly what the game is balanced around.

If you don't, the game can definitely feel pretty punishing these days.

I tend to think the answer involves better education on fundamentals to the majority of the playerbase. I'm not sure how best that can be accomplished, but at a bare minimum "push behind your wave" needs to start being a thing that more players understand than not, and I'm not sure that's the case right now.

Nexus Blitz was DESIGNED to be short; Summoner's Rift wasn't.

That's all there is to it and it doesn't take a genious to understand the difference.

dark100dark1002 votes

I completely agree. It was really good to introduce blitz, since if you just want a quick game with many kills, its perfect. And summoner rift does not need to balanced into that anymore.

IainG1017 votes

My whole take on it is, by all means, have a short, fast-paced game mode, for when you want a bit of quick, mindless action. Just don't turn the longer, more tactical game mode into that at the same time...

Illabethe4 votes

Except..... unless you're surrendering or extremely out of your elo, short games DON'T happen in ranked.

Zach xD5 votes

{quoted}

Except..... unless you're surrendering or extremely out of your elo, short games DON'T happen in ranked.

To give the benefit of the doubt to you, I'd say that in a lot of cases where the game SHOULD be decided/over, the winning team often doesn't know how to close out the game. With that on the table, games probably go longer than they need to, but games on average are often decided early because of how easy it is to snowball objectives off of a lead currently.

Illabethe1 votes

Season 7 and 6 Snowballed off a lead far stronger than the current build.

And except in very rare circumstances Irelia Katarina ...... Snowballing does not mean an automatic loss. It means a harder, longer game to come back from. MANY of my Zyra games start out with my team feeding a 5/20 lead. I still win them! I just get mad in the process and become frustrated at 1v5ing.

And while some teams do not know how to close out a game, other teams know how to prevent the close out. That's part of the equation just as much.

3TWarrior3 votes

over 1000 gold for first tower depending upon circumstances, someone posted a link for bounties being related to CS score... , a support that barely fits in the category and adds bonus gold for kills (which bonus gold has rarely if ever been healthy in league. Twisted Fate took a while to have his kit remade and he still factors it into his power budget) ; Runes Reforged did not exist in 6 or 7 and is far stronger than masteries ever were, a carry can get around 32% of their auto attack damage converted to true damage or 20% of overall damage if you can manage enough autos to weave them into your kit

Six was questionable, seven was bad, eight(( as people put it)) has been the worst season so far and we're going to start seeing more "incentives" to invite friends or other players into the game with how quickly server populations have been dropping

Illabethe1 votes
  1. The plates majority expire each game. It also gets split among local teammates. You maybe see ~ 6-7 plates destroyed a game total (2-3 Bot, 1 mid, 2-3 Top ON AVERAGE; Some games do get a full 5 on one turret, but very rarely do 15 ever get popped)

  2. CS in Season 6/7 was far more forgiving. Your Large minion only was worth 45g, and your small minions were worth 21+. This meant a Bad CS farmer could still get sizeable gold values, just by picking up the smalls. The reduction of smalls to 14 and increase of Large minions to 63+ bottlenecked CS snowballs.

  3. Season 6/7 You could force a turret down in 6 minutes. That was far more impactful than the gold you mentioned, where the average turret takedown is 10 minutes.

  4. Jungle first clear CS was higher for streamlined paths (~ 1200 for an abbreviated jungle clear, where now you need to clear every camp to get that 1200, including Krugs. This meant a small clear could pick up a Tiamat, Gank early, etc)

  5. Season 6/7 Early Drakes weren't as impactful. There was no 4 man AD teams getting a 7 minute Infernal Drake.

  6. Early game wards enabled easy gold incomes from invading junglers AFTER lane phase. Pro end player did this game after game, because vision was cheap. You could easily put 4 wards in jungle before laners Quested or anything.

  7. item 3504 (WhoooOoooO....)

  8. AD teams got Mobility Options increased, while AP players didn't, creating a chase advantage.

3TWarrior1 votes
  1. the majority may expire each game, but they provide an advantage that was previously not there. If circumstances align, the gold bonus is worth over 4 kills with 1000 gold and first turret, which is even worse if you get first blood combined with it, that's quite a bit of gold compared to what used to be about 750 for first blood, turret and kill

  2. I'm not sure what values you use for CS, but previously it was where CS started off small and raised in value by time as the match went on, starting at roughty 15 and 16 and ending in the mid 20's . Cannon minions have always been valuable, even to the point of wasting an ability on them just for the extra gold, so it makes me want to facepalm when someone misses a cannon minion with almost no reason to do so

  3. season 6 and 7, yes, you could force a turret down that early, but do you know why? Riot increased passive gold generation, making it where it was far less of a gamble to leave your lane. During the tank meta of season five, the teleport rush became commonplace due to its ability to snowball a lane easily. This ended when the meta ended. Riot brought it back in 6 and 7 with the passive gold changes and changes to first blood because it became less risky to pull it off

  4. I can't comment on jungle information. For the life of me, I can't seem to learn anything about that role unless I play fiddlesticks, warwick or nunu

  5. Drakes have changed many times, from global gold(about an assist to a kill's worth) to passive but weaker generalized buffs to selective, random buffs. What instead changed was the severity of said buff via random number generators as 3 infernals is deadly

  6. jungle information again

  7. EVERYONE hated the ardent censor meta and riot only brought it about trying to fix their mistake with lethality

  8. I'm curious what you mean by this, but AD items have always held a movement advantage over AP items unless you picked an obscure build such as multiple Luden's echoes. There is also Rylai's , which can slow that movement speed advantage. If you mean champion mobility, Riot has gone completely insane with it, not even bothering to factor in mobility into a champion's power budget as almost every champion recently has it in one form or another and often in multiple forms

Illabethe1 votes
  1. The gold value of the shields is partially represented in a diminishment of the gold reward for taking a turret, and also in the fact it's harder to begin to control a map. Turrets USED to offer global 300-250 gold to a team. Now they are only 150. Also, you keep forgetting that the plate gold gets divied up, and that Assists no longer give takedown gold unless the victim has a 4 kill streak+. Gold has been taken out of the system in many areas of lane phase, and has been moved to turret plating.

  2. Look up gold reward histories. Old CS gave 21- 29 Gold for small minions, 45 - 60 for a Large minion. Now it gives 14 - 19 for small, 63-70 for a large one. This was introduced in Season 8, to encourage opponents to attempt to deprive opposing laners of those large minions through harassment. An adc who misses large minions won't even be able to afford basic items.

  3. I'm sorry but passive gold gain (other than support items) is the same. The reason you could force the turrets down was simply that they were redesigned with almost no defense, and do pulse damage, rather than laser damage. They were also dropped 1000 HP. They also weakened minions over Season 6-7, so that they were ineffective at damaging champions, which had an adverse effect to a champion's ability to chip away at a turret.

  4. Bottom line of the point I was making: Krugs were not killed in the Season 6-7 Jungle. They were considered a waste of time, but you still could get 1200 gold in the first clear, and strong AD junglers could gank level 3 on a level 2 laner in about 3:20. Now you need Krugs to do it, and level 3 without them is a 3:50 endeavor.

  5. Point is: Drakes increased gold snowballs, and the Season 6-7 version, albiet "weak buffs" (Infernals were not weak, nor Mountain, the rest debateable) also gave that gold. Furthermore, Season 6 had the amazing level 2 Malzahar Drake. Now...... Drakes are on a delayed spawn timer.

  6. I Didn't. It wasn't near as influential as Stormrazor is, and Stormrazor is packed into one champion, so it's actually more dangerous.

  7. They re-added Shurelya's, Twin Shadows, added Movement speed to Mejais, Nomad's Medallion. The AD list hasn't really changed much. Also, multiple move speed runes in the new system far favors Mages when it comes to building, since most AD run Precision or Domination. (I get 529 Move speed on Zyra. Try to kill me)

P.S. Rylai's is a joke atm. 20% Move speed reduction is tiny compared to what it used to be (40% for single targets), and the mitigation of its slow is more rampant. Nasus and Darius can actually chase down targets while they are Rylai'd. Most Adcs can to, because of Stormrazor nulling the move speed loss.

Simple: I like long strategic, TACTICAL based games, therefore, I currently hate League's current style and have never ONCE played Nexus Blitz. There's a bunch of deathmatch loving l33t-killerz that hate long/slow games and love Nexus blitz and didn't like older SR. A LONG time ago, I used to play FPS games and LOVED the team based capture the flag games, when I was looking for a game I'd often find a bunch of instagib games. When BOTH are available, then that is FINE for everyone. But if you yanked the ones I LIKE then of course I am gonna complain about the lack of the game I like, while the guys that like instagib are gonna extol it's greatness. I can only assume the confusion is a result of Riot previously killing alt game modes.

Started in October 2017, love the game and I have to say, it’s a damn shame I didn’t get to play league for longer before this all happened. To be honest I don’t think riot can fix the damage this meta caused, so it’s prob just gonna keep up with damage until it’s just a game of QuickDraw to instakill your opponent where assassins are chosen in every role, even support.

Speak for yourself. I've been playing since before Kassadin, Leblanc, and Talon lost their silences (first major thing I can remember happening) and I've never really appreciated how it might end up taking an entire hour to finish the game.

I'm fine with game length as it is now.
