For a champ that realies on using her auto attack to lower the cooldown of her ult, the projectile speed is really slow. I'm sure this is because she is a mage, but it just shows poor design.
She is not the only mage like this. There are other mages like Ziggs and lux who might occasionally use an auto attack but have horrible attack animations.

Mages have low armor, slow movement speed, low mobility, low AD, low AS, slow auto attacks, slow projectile speeds, low MR, low survivability, expensive items, mana problems, long cooldowns, low DPS(with some exceptions).
There are some mages with mobility:
(Half assassins)
(Unreliable)
(AP marksman) Riot loves marksmen btw.
Only good things about mages are burst(which is easily countered by tanks and shields), cc, wave clear( have bad wave clear) and range.
