Let's talk....Annie, the Psychopath.

Before we start i first need to say that i genuinely like the concept of Annie (same as my yasuo post a few days ago) but i genuinely want to know the why's and such involving her kit. Now for the salt.

This champion, i don't even know were to start but i guess i'll start at the fact she has a stun on her passive, like that's fine and dandy right because Braum has a stun on his passive so whats the problem. The fact she doesn't even have to hit anyone with anything to get it, who decided that's okay? She can run from one lane to another just using her ability's to get her 1.5 seconds stun and it's pretty ridiculous considering IT"S POINT AND CLICK! Why is that allowed! How can you give a champion with incredible burst damage a point and click stun?

Oh and while i'm on damage, HER DAMAGE IS RIDICULOUS! The chicks base damage is higher than most damaging ultimate's on 3 different ability's AND ALL OF THOSE ABILITY'S CAN STUN AS WELL. Why is this okay? The base damage on her ult's initial cast is the same as Ekko's ultimate, then the fking bear she summons can do magic damage with his auto attacks and has a cinder hulk effect that adds up to a total of 900 damage with 450% AP scaling, what? 450% Scaling, in case you don't believe me, go to her wikia page. Now of course you have to stand there and get hit by him for that to happen but that's not very hard considering he gains 275% attack speed on summon and 100% movement speed. What makes it worse is not only that it's an AoE stun but if Annie dies, it's basically a pseudo Sion passive. Tibber's will gain 275% attack speed, 100% movement speed, again, and chase down her killer in addition to regenerating 50% of his missing health.

Now some of you may be saying "She's an easy champion, she only works in low ELO" i laugh at you, ha. ha. ha.

There is in fact a challenger Annie main who's been there for quite awhile, in fact i believe there are a few, and the number Annie mains is even greater in platinum and above. Her win rate in platinum and above is 51.6%, much higher than almost 60% of the champions in the game. The thing with this win rate is the fact that it doesn't really change across the board, in gold in bellow it's 51.7% and in diamond its 51.5%.

Finally, Mid-lane Annie's win rate against 40 different champions is above 50%. That's absolutely stupid, most meta mid laner's have a win-rate of 48+ across the board but Annie's is well over 50. In fact right now her win-rate on Champion.gg is 52.85 and her only match up bellow 45%(usually what's considered the thresh hold of "Skill Match-ups") is 43% with swain. the rest are all above 46%, with only 2 being there and the rest borderline at 49%.

Her passive, coupled with her incredible burst or sustained damage(her choice) gives her a lot of ways to outplay her opponent but very little way's for her opponent to do the same, even itemizing against her doesn't work well enough to stop her from roaming and getting the rest of your team and even you if you don't run away for your entire laning phase, even then her amazing AA range(higher than most ADC's), stun and tanky bear let's her dive you whenever she pleases.

Overall i think we can do better than making a point and click, no counter play burst mage but what do i know, i'm just a player.

She's a burst mage. She's an assassin killer. She has a cripplingly short range. She needs all of the elements of her kit to work in her intended role. There are counters to her, such as range, MR, and CC.

Thats the thing, her winrate say's otherwise, she doesn't seem to have any real "Counter's" they just have a slightly better winrate in the match up. Her AA is higher than almost any mage (with the exception being Zyra, and higher than most ADC's), it doesn't matter if your range is low when you can just run up to someone and click on them to kill them, i'd rather not have to go out of my way to constantly avoid the range of her Q, E and R just so i don't die, it's pretty stupid for that to be the only form of "Counter Play" to her.

Her stun is visible to everyone though, so it's fairly easy to poke her at a range and back off when she approaches. You can't just go balls deep in when you see Annie, you have to actually play carefully against her.

and if you're melee? You just lose.

Apparently she's an anti-assassin mage, but if you ask me and my experience playing a lot of different midlaner's, she's an anti-everything, there isn't much you can do against her in lane due to her insane damage. Even if you can somehow poke her from outside her range, one wrong move and she'll instantly kill you without you being able to do anything because of her stun. If your melee you just sit in lane completely useless and wait for her to dive you, you can't call on your jungler because chances are she'll just burst him too.

Morg eats annie if you know what you're doing. Lux can poke her from range and be reasonably safe. Any seige mage will be ok against her as long as they are careful.

Annie does not deal well with getting poked. She doesn't trade well. If she can't 100-0 you (or 80 - 0, assuming she poked you a little or the jungler showed up), she isn't going to win.

If she sits on her stun, her last hitting is going to suffer. Once she blows her stun on minions, you can get some decent damage in and be ok. If she's just sitting on her stun, push the lane (something poke/seige mages are great at) she won't be able to farm under tower well with just autos.

Get some early MR. Hexdrinker if ad, abyssal if ap. As noted above, if she can't burst you, she is much less scary. If you're really scared, get mercs. Her stun isn't 1.5 seconds until level 16 or something (it scales through the game), early levels it's only .75 sec. Mercs will reduce that, and give you MR.

zyra counters her

To be fair i don't think that saying a champion like Zyra counter's someone is enough to say they aren't OP, i just laned against a zyra with karma and it was absolutely ridiculous. Being poked under my turret without her taking any turret shots and her AA range being well beyond what i could even hope to get to her was kind of tilting. I'm fairly sure that zyra counter's everyone right now

Hard to compare one of the first champions ever conceived to the game to the one released post season 1.

I'm not sure if I agree with this. Her bear going rage mode is pretty ridiculous I agree, but she doesn't seem overpowered otherwise. I played Orianna against annie mid recently and I won that lane pretty easily. I ended up carrying the game with a Riven with both our scores being 19/10.

She wasn't that good though so I'm not sure if this is a great example. The only champion I can think of that seems off the charts ridiculous is Malzahar. If you want to talk point and click, Malzahar is your man.

Oh no i just think she lacks counter play and she isn't completely broken just it's not fun to lane against her or have her on the enemy team. The fact she's so easy to play usually means her winrate would drop in high ELO but it doesn't change much at all like alot of other easy champions and that's a direct result of her lack of counter play.

Malzahar and Zyra, in my opinion, are the most OP champions right now due to several factor's, mainly the mage rework breaking them so i don't like to compare them to a fixable champion like annie.

Range?

Velkoz thrash on her Lux laught at her Xerath won'r even let her farm

The reason her kit works like that is because she has juggernaut values of damage, if you let her get close. I mean Chogath has similar kit as Annie and before you tell me that his Q is a skillshot, if you start your combo with W is pretty much impossible to fail. So they are fairly immobile to compensate and fairly short range.

Why is her win rate so high? because current meta doesn't favor mages at all, the last somewhat viable mage we saw was Viktor (which trash on annie) so meta has moved towards more utility based mages or assasins which annie loves
