Should Azir Q use his ult wall soldiers if they are available? That way he is vulnerable to melee?
I just got some info that riot might me looking at reworking Azir and Kalista simply because their kits become overloading once players master the champs. I feel like this is true for Azir. Not sure about Kalista as I've hardly played her.
Even before all the Azir nerfs, I notice something about him. He was a sustain ap marksman who also had the burst of a regular mage if he landed all his skills. Now I thought well this is fine because his sustain damage is highly conditional to the position of his soldiers. But that was not the only thing overloaded about Azir, his Ult was overloaded too because it simply shut down melee champs will adding burst to Azir kit. Again, the reason this seemed fine was because Azir needed some defense if his soldiers became useless due to bad positioning. To top it off, Azir also had that crazy tower passive all because he needed other ways to remain reliable if his soldier are in a bad position.
See where I'm going with this? His entire kit was OVERLOADED because it was hard to land his soldiers autoattacks.
But new Rylies just amplifed everything in his kit because Rylies was meant for regular mages whose kit was gated by cooldowns. Hence enemies had a chance to escape once a rylies mage went on cooldown. But this is not the case with Azir.
Azir plus Rylies = permaslow and his skill cap gate opens, allowing everything in his overloading kit to land on his target. Most champs cant take that abuse.
Likewise most champs can't reliably dish out both burst and sustain damage.....Diana (cough). BTW Diana is justified as she is a melee champ.
Anyway, what I'm suggesting is that once Azir ults, if he uses Q after, the wall breaks and all soldiers get used for his Q. Off course the AOE of this combo should be reduced to the same size as 3 soldiers and his ult should use any soldiers he had remaining in his W.
The point of this is to make an opening for melee champs if azir goes all out. Right not he can completely deny melee champs while Q'ing/AAing them. He should have to choose between defense or attacking, not both at the same time.
