@CertainlyT @Meddler 5 ideas that could all improve Garen's rework without breaking him

  1. Q deals double damage to Structures and the CD starts on cast instead of after the duration
  2. Q speed boost is 80% for 1 second only when running at Champs and cannot be slowed during it instead of 35% for 1.5/2.25/3/3.75/4.5 that clears slows on cast
  3. W gives Passive for the full duration and cannot be interrupted
  4. E no longer slows him by 20% when hitting an enemy Champ with it
  5. R treats the Champ that damages him or an ally/minion more than 10 times in the last minute as a Villain instead of just whoever killed someone last

What do these changes accomplish?

Same general idea of enhancing Garen's strengths and giving him exploitable weaknesses, without just making his weaknesses overpower his strengths

His Q is stronger in shorter windows allowing him to bridge the gap quickly but still be relatively immobile, allowing him not only to help in teamfights against almost every champion in the game but also gives him synergy with Ohmwrecker and splitpushing

W allows him more sustain in the jungle and in trades by giving him his passive when activating it, and gives Garen even more reason to max it second over Q

E removes a change that I don't even understand why they added. He will never be able to get damage off on people if he is slowed during his E.

R gives him some use of his new mechanic on his R outside of teamfights. The duration can be adjusted so it's not overbearing.

Thoughts?

how about they just give him his tenacity on his w back and remove the 20% slow against champions?

im really salty about the silence nerf, and it absolutely sucks, that ghostblade is now less effective on him. but thats not even the worst part.

i think ill just switch to darius. they put some small nerfs on a couple of parts but he actually got something worthwile out of it in return.

that mark is just fucking useless most of the time and not worth losing everything in his kit that allows him to stick to a target.

I would rather they move ahead and fix the true problems with his kit instead of just reverting things. The only thing that honestly needs reverted is his E slow addition.

W losing the tenacity is honestly fine. I'm not convinced he really needed it if you give him other things instead. The problem is they just lowballed him on this rework, but they do that a lot.

New Darius is baller as fuck tho.

the thing is, right now hes actually in a good spot. for the first time since he exists in this game he is actually viable at all levels of play in solo que. most of that thanks to the cleaver changes and that he can itemize into mobility now, which allows him to be more effective lategame than he was before. he has some ability to deal with cc with the tenacity on his w and to stick to targets with cleaver and ghostblade. THATS what improved his situation.

but theyre taking a shit on everythign theyve achieved with him over the course of the last year.

the new fighter items alone would have helped him out a bit further when it comes to his build variety. hes losing out on too much for a gimmicky mechanic that he has no control over and wont profit from for the most part of the game.

this rework is a setback, not an improvement.

if they want to improve him, then fine. keep the changes to his w passive, increase the cap on the resistance bonus. keep the changes to the mechanic of the damage ticks for his e so lategame he applies cleaver faster due to applying his damage in 10 ticks instead of 6. have him apply even more damage ticks with critical strikes and flatten out the crit bonus on his q.

and then leave it at that. he needs nothing else. all he needed was buffs for his very lategame, past 35 to 45 minutes. id would be fine if theyd shift some early and midgame power into that with some slight changes, but what they did is terrible.

They could probably do all the changes minus the E slow and it might actually keep him viable. I'm not entirely sure but it could be possible. That Gage item seems like it's perfect for some of his issues.
