This is not even a stat tanks value... This will only make cof Irelia cof bruisers even better ( the bruisers who are already good, not people like darius or garen ). This change is nonsense riot.

Honestly tho, with that added AS it probably needs to give less health and armor and just put that back into Sunfire. Make a clear choice. With this change Randuins will always be better than Sunfire in pretty much every possible regard.

Or they could not do this change at all. Nerfing the tank stats that is meant to tanks should not be a good balance move.

Tanks would still have Sunfire, but new Randuins is giving a lot of value on top of the high armor and health it already gives. Its going to be nerfed instantly after release onto live.

Sunfire isn't a tank item, it's a bruiser item. It doesn't give that much in the way of tank stats compared to actual tank items like Randuins.

I find Sunfire to be more a tank item than bruiser, personally. My opinion is you benefit more from the Immolate passive if not building damage. If you already have some damage as a bruiser, you want more tankiness from one item. With certain exceptions of course.

And in general, yeah it's weird that it essentially steals AS. But while it's not a needed stat, it's beneficial.

Yeah thats why they gave Cinderhulk a minisunfire to help out Tank junglers right. Not a tank item at all nope.

Notably, CInderhulk IS a tank item. Sunfire Cape is not.

But these items are all multi-purposed. Cinderhulk isn't JUST a tank item - it's a jungler item and the reason the burn is good is for reasons related to the jungle (clear speed). Cinderhulk also has %HP, which is a stat tanks will be getting plenty of and is therefore a strong tank item.

Try playing a game as a tank where your core armor item is sunfire cape instead of randuins - It won't end well for you, it just doesn't have the raw survivability stats.

Tanks are threats because of their CC and sticking power - not because of their damage. Sunfire cape will not help you survive long enough and the minor damage you gain isn't worth it when you could be living longer and getting more CC out, which will help your team more than... what 45 damage per second late game?

Bruisers are threats because of their ability to take a hit while pumping out damage. They are less tanky then pure tanks, and they trade CC for damage. Sunfire cape accomplishes these goals.

EDIT: For example, it's similar to the threat of Shyvana and Mundo - who are bruisers rather than tanks. The goal is to slowly burn down the team while drawing fire from the carries by being dangerous.

Every attack speed item assumes you are AA'ing, which Azir doesn't do [often] (Using soldiers doesn't register as an AA). So they result in stats or effects Azir doesn't use.

Part of bruiser Azir's play pattern is to rush in (knock-up) and soldier attack; so Randuin's would be the only Attack speed item that can be fully utilized in his normal play patterns.

The change is likely to differentiate Randuins from both Frozen Heart and Righteous Glory, or at the very least make it a sort of middle ground item aimed at fighter champs instead of tanks. Not to say that tanks will never buy Randuins, but it's more about giving fighters options instead of being high damage and stupidly tanky.

I feel like they need to make Randuin's less tanky for this to work though. As Cynical Giant has pointed out, the implications of this and the new cleaver are kinda nightmare inducing. Like holy shit i'm legit scared for solo queue now.

There are actually a few tanks that benefit from attack speed. Nautilus Rammus being the two best examples.

its an interesting change but i kinda like it. it retains the items tank value while making it a decent pick up for bruisers who don't need the burn from sunfire.

Those are probably the worst examples, actually. Rammus's AD buff from armor isn't that strong, and Naut has a strict cooldown to follow. Unless you're thinking enemies are going to crowd around Naut and let him peck each 1 by 1 with his stun...

Really, Volibear , DrMundo , and Skarner are probably the only real tanks where it's not just a fluff stat on them.

Pretty sure he mentioned Naut because of his W. It deals bonus magic damage upfront as well as over time (half of the listed damgage upfront with the other half dealt over the next second), so more attackspeed means more procs of that damage, not just his passive.

That is over 2 seconds, so you can proc it continuously from level 1 at your base attack speed. That's even more niche than the stun strat.

A lot of Tanks actually use AS since most Tanks are basically bruisers.

Naut likes it. Sejuani likes it. Volibear likes it. Darius likes it. Mundo likes it. Irelia likes it. Sion sorta likes it. etc.,

if you think that tanks actually care about AS you have no idea how to play the game.

Irelia isn't a tank in the slightest so it further proves you have no idea what you are talking about. Tanks don't build damage so why should they care about making their autos come up more often? very and i mean very few actual tanks care about AS and most of them might as well just build like a bruiser anyways. Naut doesn't care about AS, Sej doesn't care about AS, Darius doesn't care about AS, Mundo doesn't care about AS, Sion doesn't care about AS. So good job, the only champion you mentioned that do care about AS isn't even a tank but a bruiser

Xin builds primarily defensive items therefore he fits the tank role. Zed doesn't therefore he isnt a tank. Riot would call both of these Fighter/Assassins but it doesnt matter what they say because those terms are useless.

no they are not. With that logic anything is a tank since you can build anyone with mostly defensive items if you so wish. There is a difference between being tanky and actually being a tank. A tank focuses on CCing and disrupting teamfights while a fighter/bruiser focuses on going to being the big frontline and threatening the backline if possible. Tanks don't really care about threatening the backline as much as they care about CCing primary targets and peeling for your own primary targets. Bruisers/fighter don't care about peeling. Learn the actual definitions and what each roles is supposed to do instead of "he builds tanky so he is a tank" that is not how that works

voli,olaf,irelia,mundo (e synergy), darius (bleed stacks), rek'sai, vi, lee sin, etc etc. Majority of AD tanks/bruisers that build randuins benefit from the attack speed

How does everyone forget Aatrox ?

Randuin's is already his core armor item, and the attack speed makes it even more appealing to him, it basically counts as an offensive item for him now.

New item 3143 + item 3074 + item 3153 + item 3156 + item 3026 + item 3047 / item 3111 =Happy Aatrox.
