So now that Master Free has been buffed...

Can he immediately be gutted again? I'm sick of seeing him faceroll unstoppably over everything that gets thrown at him.

P.S. Before you say it, you're wrong. CC doesn't work, and neither does bursting him out. Nothing works against him.

Most of those are pretty easy to dodge while he's at 800 movespeed, and the rest can be juked with his no cooldown q.

I noticed you got rocked (lol) as Malphite vs. a gold 5 Yi just an hour ago.

Your whole team got destroyed solo.

Not a single lane had pre-6 hard CC. Not a single lane had an escape. However, all enemy lanes had multiple CCs and escapes.

Elise also lost to Yi as the strongest early ganker in the game.

All Yi had to do was clean up since none of you could hold your own lanes.

Is it any wonder you got destroyed by a 46% win rate champ?

I also notice that you were in a premade. You are essentially inviting a stomp against yourself by playing a suboptimal premade like ADC+top.

play shen... he drops a circle of auto attacks don't work here and he dies... or rammus and just make him kill himself while you laugh intensely at his hardcore fail

Bumping this thread for fact: there is no way to win against Yi.

I mean...I don't understand. High CC compositions deal with champions like this. If you don't have CC, then he's going to run through your back line like paper. Some champions need to be dealt with in different ways and excel against certain team compositions.

Yeah no. Just had a game as a high CC composition against Yi and no matter how much cc you throw at him, you cannot stop him from running down your team. Any cc that isn't targeted he'll juke with Q and 700 movespeed, any cc that is targeted won't be a stun so he'll press W and wait it out, and if he really feels like the cc is actually affecting him (which it isn't) he can just buy item 3139 .

I know that he's not necessarily the easiest champion to deal with, but execution in it is as vital as knowing how to deal with him. It's essential (since he's basically an assassin) to have two forms of CC lined up anyway. A good assassin also knows when to wait for the CC spells to be used so that the enemy is defenseless.

What you're describing isn't a solution, it's part of the problem. You must have multiple champions with hard cc ready and waiting, completely unallowed to "waste" their cc on anyone else, abd then layer it with absolutely perfect timing or die. Yi, meanwhile, doesn't even need to wait out cc due to how many tools he has to just ignore it: juking with high movespeed and an intargetability gap-closer (which is spammable ), and a high power selfheal and damage reducer. It is far, far easier for Yi to roll over a team than it is for them to stop him from doing so. It takes an entire coordinated team to stop this one champion. That is the very definition of broken and in desperate need of having his kit destroyed. The only time Yi is balanced is when he's unplayable.

It takes an entire coordinated team to stop this one champion.

That's how most assassins work, though. Zed, Talon, Kha'zix, Rengar, Le Blanc, Diana, etc... it's all about having a coordination from a CC source (support or tank) with a damage source (carry or mage). That's the way it's always been, and that's the way it will always be in every game where this is the case. When there's a carry, there needs to be a way to deal with that carry; assassins are the most ideal way to eliminate the carry quickly before the immense amounts of dps comes out to the front line. Thus, if there isn't a way to defend from this, then the team is failing. This is THE reason why people hate playing against assassins: one person can disrupt an entire team's balance. But, instead of complaining about it, it's ideal to play around it. It's always a good idea to have champions with CC, anyway, to deal with any potential problems and set up for picks/fights. However, if I start seeing a team that's like Mundo, Ziggs, Ezreal, Lux...then of course Yi would be an ideal candidate to carry the game, should he go uninterrupted in the jungle.

That's not a solution. That does not address in any way how Yi specifically , not assassins as a whole, has entirely too many ways to counteract his own counters. I constantly see Yi roll over high-cc teams that are doing their best to layer that cc on him. It simply doesn't work against Yi because he has too many ways around it.

If the mere existence of CC and burst made him useless, we'd never see him. It's all about timing and execution. Uncoordinated CC and burst won't bring him down... the same as every assassin in the game. I use the example of an assassin simply because they do it better. Yi isn't an issue because his options are very telegraphed and susceptible to disruption. He's lithe and nimble, but a single landing of CC (or two in case of QSS) lines him up for bursting. The Medi-tank is nice, but it won't help him when the entire enemy team is blasting him.

He doesn't seem to be making any ripples regarding winrate, so it's unlikely he's going to "be gutted" as you requested.

Which honestly makes no sense since all the things that supposedly "counter" him don't.

Well timed CC and burst on the other hand...
