Warwick new kit is rather disappointing

Ahristocats··7 votes·1,788 views

passive: deals bonus damage, and if below 50% hp heals for the damage Q: bite a target dealing damage, or leap to a target W: a weird version of warwick's old E E: volibear fear that works on champs R: same ulti but now a jump and range increased

certainlyt is known for bringing new mechanics like lantern or windwall, but this rework didn't do anything new

what do you think?

You're oversimplifying it. I really like what they've done. You didn't even mention the damage reduction on the e, the w AS boost/ active, or the cc immunity during the jump on the R. Or the fact that the R range is based on movespeed. He is what all champion updates should be: a champion's old kit updated to fit the current meta.

the CC immunity during jump is quite obvious, just like any jump (malphite, nocturne, j4 ulti ect..)

for the "range based on movement speed" yes i simplified it with "range increased"

as for the other, i actually didn't see them thank you

Well he did say that accessibility was the intended goal. By the looks of it, Warwick might have a good skill ceiling though.

He is supposed to be Newbie first Jungler.

I am glad they kept it simple for those first timers so they can get use to the jungle.

Skill shot ult though, so on that front he failed hard. Looks good otherwise.

THIS! ^

CertainlyT even said he's supposed to be accessible to noobs.

Sorry no lifer, this champ isn't for you m8.

I think it is nice that for once we don't have a game changing character but instead just one who looks solid and more interesting than his former self and someone who could be solid but not because of one gimmick. might be just me but feels like riot was trying to hard to innovate sometimes and this seems just more natural. instead of a new mechanic, its just a new champ

well i can understand, certainlyt wanted warwick to remain accessible

I think he's fine. He is still intended to be a simple champion who's easy to pick up, and his W is a pretty interesting new mechanic.

Q: Press and it does something. Press and hold it does something different.

I don't think we've got an ability quite like that. The closest comparison is Poppy's hammer, but this seems different.

AtheosisX2 votes

Also not noob-friendly. I like the rework but it really doesn't look like WW is the easiest jungler anymore.

Personally, I like that his kit is simple. It doesn't feel too drastically different from the Warwick we're already familiar with, but it still feels fresh as well. Plus, the fact that its not complicated means that he's great for people to learn to jungle with, and as someone who's been having troubles with that, it's great to see that there's a champ for me to pick up. Plus, I'm not going to lie, I love his new updated look and the visuals. He seems like a real blood-hunting predator now and I'm really eager to get my claws - erm, hands on him. He seems like someone who's good to pick when the enemy has a lot of mobility - seems like he can follow enemies even after they dash/blink/dive away, so he can keep up with people like Lee, Vi, etc. who have been running rampant.

i don't understand these boards, people complain about certainlyT and then there like "wtf he didn't add anything stupid to this champion whats going on" I just don't get it not ratting on you or anything just people overall.

Ahristocats1 votes

that's because i'm part of the players that like certainlyt, there are people that find windwall toxic, and there are people like me that find windwall playable around and good because it's a unique mechanic

Karakot1 votes

See this is the kind of reasonable rational stuff on here that I love. No one hating because one person had a different opinion. I agree with you though, what hes made before is actually playable around and can be beat if you know what you're doing. Having it makes the champ unique in their own way to make players like a champion even more.

Different people want different things. It's not complicated.

I think it's great that this champ doesn't look extremely over loaded, meaning he will be much easier to balance. I've always kind of liked playing Warwick, so this Warwick 2.0 should be quite enjoyable to me.

I like that we are keeping the same basic character (I say as I plan on playing him once the rework is out, mainly cause I love the way he looks and his movement cycle when he is on all fours). While they did change him a bit, they did keep him more or less what his character was/is about (unlike Yorick, who more or less changed almost completely). Personally, I love the way his abilities look, sure they arent flashy and are similar to his old ones, but they still look like, and I think that those small changes are going to be enough to get more people (like myself) to play him.

His W looks super strong now, it seems he can leap over terrain with it!? Or maybe the leap was his Q, but it was a significant range, and the W was a significant speed boost.

Making his R a skillshot adds some counterplay that people complained about with old WW ulti, and the fear is nice to get a good trade in.

He can actually gank pre level 6 now, good shit.

Ahristocats1 votes

his W doesn't make you dash, it gives you blood trails that can be used to chase and find targets below 50% hp

Primaquarius1 votes

Warwick looks like more of a picker now, but its sad that Soraka has no niche in this anymore

Shynana1 votes

manged to fix his problems and simple enough for a newbie jg, ww problem, ganks werent good unless lv 6 now should ne decent enough

warpenguin5551 votes

Im glad CT didn't do anything new and wacky. Warwick is supposed to be a beginner jungler, and giving him something like free mobility would be kinda going against that

LostFr0st1 votes

He looks like soooo much fun. It also technically brings ganking as a new mechanic to super new players. I truly think it's awesome. Oh, and imagine deadman's plate+bloodscent X3

He's meant to be for new players. Gonna go on a little rant here that I'm probably gonna make into a full post, tbh.

Warwick is refreshing in that it's not just a "throw out the old kit and do it from scratch" sort of relaunch. CertainlyT is being smart by not overloading his kit and instead nerfs some things and bumps up others. New warwick looks like a fair and balanced champ.

I am happy that the new kit still resembles the old Warwick. I always get a little worried when RIOT decides they need to rework a champion. I would say the rework is slightly bigger than the rework they did to Shen but smaller than the rework done to Taric.

Shen still has a lot of play similar to the old Shen, but the Taric rework was like a completely new champion and I think when you do a rework you still want to try and keep as much of the old champion as possible.

The biggest change to the new Warwick might be the addition of the fear mechanic. It's sort of getting dangerously close to Volibear territory to add that to Warwick's kit, but at the same time, Warwick really needed tools to enable pre-6 ganks, if he ever wanted to break out of being a farm jungler.

And I think this is the biggest take away right now: we are going to see more pre-6 ganking from Warwick.

His new W is SO cool though.

I say thank the fucking god, lantern is what makes thresh obnoxious instead of a support with the highest skillfloor and windwall is the worst coded ability in the game that is buggy as hell and ruins entire kits. Thank god he kept it relatively simple this time.
