What's so OP about Veigar?

His Q - Nerfed W - Minuscule compensation buff E - Nerfed R - Nerfed!!

You mean to tell me he's being doing the same exact thing for 6 years now and NOW you people want to start bitching? The hilarious thing is that he's technically weaker than his previous state. Yet all I see are people crying about how an anti-mage one shot my 700 AP carry. Lol ok like and doesn't exist. [[Repost. Posted in the wrong section]]

His Q - Nerfed

What the actual f%#@ are you talking about? The changes to his Q were a massive buff. Stack 2 minions at once instead of 1? Are you joking?

Clint Orris3 votes

You forgot that the fact that it can now miss invalidates your statement.

You forget the fact that you being bad at landing a super easy skillshot on a immobile minion doesn't make your argument valid

"guys I cant land a skillshot on a minion" LOL

Clint Orris3 votes

Hahahaha you're so funny i'm in tears!! Anyway, I was talking mostly about using it aggressively against the enemy. But if you want to go there let's go there. So you're telling me that every few second's minions are lined up perfectly for you to CS behind your tower, 100% of the time? But of course you're not gonna mention how Veigar how to now sometime position himself in unfavorable positions to execute with his Q. OK. And you're forgetting that stats show that old and new Veigar are getting around the same amount of AP throughout the game.

Eedat2 votes

It is so easy. Look to see which minion is taking the most damage. Start auto atacking the one next to it. By the time the first minion is low enough to Q, the one you are autoing will be as well. Press Q and collect your free 2 AP.

Not to mention the fact that the range went from 650 to 950, the animation is better, and has a much higher missile speed. It's impossible to deny him stacks now.

Again, just because you're bad that doesn't make your argument valid

Clint Orris2 votes

I never said it wasn't easy i'm just saying the minion don't move around like in your perfect like world. Your original statement is that the his Q now stacks 2 minions instead of one. But when did they start adding more minions to the minion wave? So if if old and new veigar both farmed 6 minions, somehow new Veigar would obtain more? lol ok

Eedat2 votes

You have zero idea what you are talking about. The number of minions doesn't affect anything.

Old Veigar: Get one Q stack then have to last hit 2 minions with autos

New Veigar: Last hit 2 minions with Q then auto 1

Net result: New Veigar gets 2 stacks while Old Veigar gets 1 from the same 3 minions

How is this such a difficult concept?

Clint Orris2 votes

You're forgetting how old veigar's Q CD was lower correct? So it was completely possible to farm the whole minion wave with that Q.

The fact that you were only to average out 1 AP per 3 minions as old Veigar means that YOU were bad lmao

dunder kill2 votes

Have you ever once played Old Veigar?

So it was completely possible to farm the whole minion wave with that Q.

100% wrong. You just flat out, undeniably have no idea what you're talking about

Lmaooo so after Morellos you're telling me that he couldn't farm the whole wave with his Q......wow ok

You... could.... what are you talking about?

You just flat out, undeniably have no idea what YOU'RE talking about

100% completely and utterly wrong. New Veigar gets more AP much quicker than old Veigar

SirPacifista1 votes

New Veigar does get more AP, but since old Veigar had higher scaling, he didn't need as much. 450 AP Old Veigar with DFG outdamages new one with 750. Do the math. -Sadistic Veigar

Also, you can not ALWAYS hit 2 minions and the wave doesnt have more than 6~7 minions. Also his stun is in no way reliable like the old one.

Miss? I almost feel like you didn't old Veigar.

New Q has a better animation, longer range, the missile speed is fast and you can stun, or at the very least, limit your enemies movement to land is easier.

If anything, old Q was harder because of a shittier animation and shorter range for an incredibly squishy mage.

dunder kill2 votes

Not hard to hit minions with a skill shot dude

h0tkarl3 votes

its a wash, actually

PRO:

  1. You can get 2 ap per stack (but you could already get every minion in a wave with it before the change)
  2. Longer range
  3. Can hit blindly, in bushes, etc

CON

  1. Longer cooldown
  2. Can be body blocked

SOURCE: I've been playing Veigar since beta

Not to mention the insane range buff. Veigars Q used to be absolutely garbage range. Going in for a stack meant free harass for the enemy. Not to mention his mana problems that no longer seem to exist. Now he just stands back and double stacks his Q because for some reason the second hit sometimes goes sideways.

Q was buffed really hard. 950 range instead of 650 range, hits two targets at once.

That's the main reason he's overpowered. The massive range on his Q means that it's no longer possible to deny him stacks.

Thank you.

Didn't he get like a number of buffs though, after the rework?

As for my personal thoughts on Veigar, he's always been able to blow someone up yes, but now he can do earlier (technically safer too because his range is longer now) due to him getting ap for assisting in a kill.

If he really becomes a problem, that can be halved or reverted entirely if it's too much.

Clint Orris2 votes

Yes I do agree that the passive buff was a bit uncalled for buuut what do you mean? Early he's not getting much AP from it early game unless he's roaming constantly. However, then he would be losing farm as well as risking getting killed.

He got a bunch of buffs, not just that one. The AP from assists wasn't what pushed him over the edge at all: it was the .25 second reduced cast time on his W, which means that it's now reasonable to land it on a target who isn't CC'd. That's a huge deal.

Clint Orris2 votes

He did get a bunch of buff however the assist stacks is the buff that pushed him over. Now everyone is getting that Flash, TP for that global pressure and possibly a few kills or assist after Q is maxed.

Lost In Time1 votes

When was his Q nerfed? Making a skillshot allowed it to farm doubly as fast or the ability to harass and farm simultaneously, and increase the range of the ability!

R nerfs still allows him to 1 shot most champions, so what does it matter if you do 100% or 120% of a champions HP pool. Dead is dead.

BattleOxe1 votes

Well, before, no one played him. And even when you encounter him, not many people knew how to play him. But looks like that changed. Oh, and one more thing. I can‘t agree Q was nerfed. It was point and click, shure, but it could kill only one minion at time, so now he stacks faster. And now it has more range too

YossarianSensei1 votes

His E has always been OP, even with the channel time it's almost impossible to miss. You won't land many insta-edge stuns after its nerf, but if you just put it down on the enemy front line the other team either has to commit to a bad fight or just leave their front line to die.

His rework allows him to stack his AP faster so he can afford to put points into E earlier

Firancil1 votes

I remember when people who didn't even play Veigar were crying for buffs, and now that he's been buffed over a few patches and feels a ton better to play those same people are crying for nerfs. Though I really don't care of he gets nerfed soon, I barely play him to begin with so it's meh to me.

I'm just happy they made his W actually usable for more than just farming or holding onto till someone gets CC'd on the enemy team, if anything I think now that assists proc his Q passive and his W is easier to hit it would be fair to lower some of his AP ratios since his full damage output is easier to achieve.

TyroneWatermelon1 votes

With the amout of damage and how easy his E is to land, unless you have Zhongshan by 10 minutes you will get 1 shorted. I believe this is the best fix; Keep his power the same, but make his ultimate like Caitlyn's block able by an ally
