I played a game of jungle for the first time in a while...

I now know firsthand why people complain. I was lucky enough to have lanes that didn't feed. However, I was stressed** constantly**. Every time a fight broke out I was hopelessly far away and every time I looked for a gank my laner had pushed in. Mid way through the game I was 4 levels behind my team mates. Please Riot. Do something about jungle, because currently it is one of the most stressful, not fun things I have played. Make junglers able to at least keep up with their team mates, or do something to make the role of jungler less gank reliant.

It requires a lot of knowledge, a lot of very smart decisions that change game to game based on how your allies play, and a mentally healthy attitude right now. JG was a bit too strong end of last season and I started getting autofilled out. They nerfed it and it's all mine now. It is a bit tough though.

Anyway, as a JG main the absolute best piece of advice you'll ever get is DO NOT LISTEN TO ALLIES. If they ask you to do something ignore it, do what YOU think is best, because the second you bend to something you disagree with you will BOTH die. You know better and you need to accept that or youll fall while trying to appease your teammates.

So you have to have the mental to eat constant flame, and to ignore allies in order to do what you know is best. If you bend on either you're legit screwed.

The thing about JG is no matter where you land in ranks, you'll almost always have better game presence knowledge than whatever MMR you're at. The reason being knowledge if your largest tool to get where you get as JG. I've heard JG of all ranks say the same thing repeatedly, they started climbing when they learned to block out allies demands.

Also, learn to accept that your allies don't know where to place wards. It's not worth letting it get to you. Seriously, they all suck at warding except the support if you're lucky.

That is your fault not the jungle's fundamentals being broken.

While I will say I was partially responsible, it wasn't fun. Usually in support even if I'm behind the other support I'm still having some form of fun. Jungle shouldn't be a stressful endeavor and yet that's how it was for me.

If 4 levels behind isn't an hyperbole, you did something very wrong that game.

But one or two levels behind are completely plausible for a rough jungle game.

Catching up when behind in the jungle can be nigh impossible. There's no correct play to do aside for hoping for a favourable gank occasion.

I usually fare decently in the role, but recently I had a game where I lost connection during the 1st clear: as a result, I facetanked gromp, was very low, had to back halfway through the clear, lost both crabs, got invaded when low in the jungle and died. My game was over at that point: the enemy jungler stole my camps as he pleased, and I was too behind to countergank or teamfight. A very tilting experience.

So if you tell me you're having trouble with jungling I recall that game and perfectly understand.

Jungle is pretty fun if you play a tank like rammus, skarner, hecarin, etc. Squishier champs are fun but you have to be prepared to fall off super hard if you get behind. Khazix for example is a super fun champ but way more effort to impact the game than a rammus or skarner

I played Rek'Sai and it felt like I was a squishy

Rek sai you've got til about 20 minutes to make your impact, after that your basically good for a flash knockup, tremor sense and maybe your execute.

But yeah, jungle now is basically you have to path/farm perfectly to only be 2 lvls behind, if you add successful ganks on top of that maybe you'll be 1 lvl under solo laners.

But god help you if you have 3 losing lanes.

Thankfully I did not have 3 losing lanes.

Jungle is rough unless your macro is on point. You need to know how to control the pace of the game. Its way more mental now than it has been in a long time, and I actually kind of enjoy that.

However, it does feel pretty bad when one or two poor decisions will put you in a state where you just feel like you can't do anything -- because you can't.

Its extremely punishing when you do it wrong, and extremely rewarding when you do it right. Make no mistake -- the game is often decided off the backs of the junglers.
