Maybe because aram is all about pure luck. if the enemy gets a fucking horrible comp (which happens most of the time) and you guys have a legendary comp with like a kat and yi. Do you think you will get fed? Yes. So please be quit. They added the s ranks to show how good you did. Aram is 80% luck 20% skill.

There is a difference between mastery points and mastery ranks. Most peopel ask for mastery points which gets you from level 1-5 and not about the grades

Maybe it has something to do with there being no roles in ARAM? Can't very well compare your score with others who play the same champion in the same role if no roles exist for this game mode.
