Naut was gutted into complete unplayability for being oppressive - and hey, I get that

What I don't get is why this argument doesn't work for other champions, many of who have far more oppresive lane phase.

No other champion in history of LoL was completely Evelynn-ized for being a lane bully. Zed was kind-of similar case, but Naut's state was nowhere near as absurd (80% banrate just REQUIRES action) and even he wasn't nerfed into such dysfunctional state.

Right now Nautilus can only be played as support - which I absolutely wouldn't mind - but even there mana issues stop him from having any impact, He just doesn't get immediately rekted as a support, because there is another champion in botlane to clear the wave.

So if getting essentially removed from the game - because that's what happened, Naut just doesn't have mana utilize his kit and Riot was perfectly aware of that when they commited the nerf - for being a lane bully is a thing, why is say Draven only patted at back of his head with Riot acknowleding that he has to bully to function?

Is bullying allowed, or is it not?

Bullying is allowed if it's necessary, a tank who scales well into lategame with lots of tankiness and hard CC like Nautilus is not allowed to bully.

Naut does not scale well and he never did.

I do not know if I agree. item 3027 item 3040 item 3115 item 3020 item 3151 item 3083 Makes him bursty enough to murder a carry and then regen off of warmog to full.

That's not how you build Assassinautilus :)

item 3152 item 3285 item 3158 item 3135 item 3100 item 3157 /item 3102

Well your build is better for assisnations, but mine is for DPS vs everyone with some nice burst still.

Either way, building AP items on Naut is not viable above gold or so. It's fun, and I love going AP Naut every now and than, but it's not really relevant to the topic xd

Well I was going for more of a offtank AP Nautilus than anything else. Two early scaling items, so that you can lose lane and still help your team. He then deals DPS to help the carry, while also dishing out tons of CC and body blocking the enemy damage. I think that he could kill an enemy tank with this damage build, especially the liandries. Perhaps replace item 3151 for item 3091 item 3124 and go for on hit nautilus, but I like the burn on his w.

Naut does not scale well and he never did.

Dual defense scaling shield + hard engage + targeted AoE hard CC = strong teamfights.

Naut's shield doesn't give him as much defenses as other tanks have in the first place, and what's worse in the late game it gets depleted by ambient AOE quickly, cutting his damage to even lower levels than he has in mid game.

Naut's CC is potentially powerful, but it is oriented at single target lockdown, which again is not what a tank wants lategame. It works much better in early/mid game scrap fights, before anyone starts grouping.

Naut also loses lategame duels and pushing contests to virtually anyone, making him unable to put ANY pressure at sidelane after minute 25, which is just another element in which he scales far worse than other tanks.

Unless he's been gutted further, Naut's shield is the most powerful in the game combined with scalings.

Ult is really good for taking out a backline carry, he won't be able to lock them down on his own, but he guarantees the effectiveness of other tanks. His ult is also an AoE stun now.

He's still got hard engage, which is really strong. Like a Blitz but with other upsides.

Hes not unplayable, im a tahm kench main and when I picked up nautilus my winrate skyrocketed, naut is fine..he just cant be played with and against every team.

pro play was the main reason since he took on maokai's role of the champ you pick to push lane and team fight and not care about being bullied

Jungle Nautilus could easily be made viable again tbqh
