is it a bad idea to max e over q on Braum?

whenever I play the mustache I tend to max E because it seems like the only thing you get from leveling q is damage, the slow doesn't increase.

but maxing e you get a longer e duration and better damage reduction.

so why do braum players max q? is the damage that noticeable?

I'm not sure what the gain is from maxing Q; Braum isn't built to deal damage, so I've only ever seen his Q maxed in lower bronze. Only other reason I can see for it is cooldown, but E is much more important to have.

I've always felt that the Q damage is pretty decent mid game if you max it first, lets you poke harder and beat up squishies on your own in some cases.

You're a tank support meant to soak up damage for your allies and protect them. Why would you max a damage ability first? Your Q is a one-point wonder.

Max E > Max W > Max Q.

I max Q all the time, though that's probably why I'm still Silver IV LOL

I think it gives him a lot of burst damage against the ADC, unless it's Graves. I've also been in many many situations where the ADC almost deals enough damage to get the kill and my Q can secure it. Happens a lot to me. I've also been in situations where the lower Q cooldowns lets me keep the stacks up more often. I max E second because I don't feel confident that my ADC will deal enough damage to get rid of the ADC. I max W last because it feels like it's not as impactful as his E or Q.

But the practice is usually just habit of playstyle though. It does really good burst and if you decide to switch to a more harrass playstyle then it's more worth. I recognize that I probably should max E in certain matchups/situations.

Because it has ridiculous base damage when maxed

isn't its base rank 5 240 or something?
