"We’re looking to minimize the number of players that’ll end up filling, but it will happen most often at highest tiers."

Notice their word choice. "Most often."

This means it will happen in ALL tiers, even bronze/silver/gold. It will be rare, but it WILL happen. If it was only going to happen in diamond+, they would have used a more direct and clear word, such as "only." Example:

"We’re looking to minimize the number of players that’ll end up filling, but it will happen ONLY at highest tiers."

But that's not what they said. That's not the word choice they used. Prepare for the troll games. They're coming. And you likely won't find out until the game starts, because they probably won't even say anything in champ select.

You kind of excluded the key part that said IF Queue times are going to be too long. Which means that you generally wouldn't be seeing it below diamond. EG: It tells you that you're going to be waiting around 20-40 minutes for this next match. Autofill happens.

And not: Estimated time 3-5 minutes, autofill.

That's not what they said.

They said they reduced high ELO queue times to 17 minutes and that's "still not good enough."

For all we know 10 minutes could be auto-fill. And 10 minute queues happen to me in low ELO multiple times per day
