a rune that buffs flash by giving you an extra mobility spell on 20 sec cd... what the actual shit.

no one could afford not to take this.

Given the channel, it's only good for moving around the map or surprising people if they can't see the channel.

In chases it's terrible and it's only possible with flash on cooldown.

i dont know. it really changes certain jungle pathes to gank lanes. its also going to be much harder to deny the opposing team access to baron and dragon pits.

right now you can clear the blast cones. but having an additional ability to move over walls seems really strong despite the channel.

rtbf761092713 votes

wouldnt the channel be interrupted by damage? I agree jungle ganks will be different and scary, but it should be pretty easy to damage someone over the pit in 2.5 seconds to cancel their channel

ModKnightsKemplar24 votes

That depends on what the other options at that level are. If everything looks equally OP, then nothing is... I'm not willing to make calls like this until I see the whole picture.

To be clear, I'm not calling you out for your opinion; it's fine. I just happen to disagree. I'm going to be excited if all the runes are similar OP (many look pretty strong so far).

RainbowIcee5 votes

I agree with this notion. Also I can't think of a champion that would benefit too much from this that would over shadow others.

3TWarrior10 votes

every melee jungler that doesn't have a blink, a laner or otherwise that wants to blink to another area, tower dives

there are few champions that would NOT benefit from having the terrain efffectively disappear for ganks

flash goes on cooldown for 4 or so minutes, whereas this spell only has a cooldown of 20 seconds

it's going to make the game more snowball-oriented , something which the game does not need

Euthenaasia3 votes

Most of these runes are going to make the game more snowball-oriented. This rune makeover will indeed ruin the game.

13743420 votes

You are giving up one of the runes that provide damage or movespeed for a blink that requires you to sit and channel for 2.5 seconds and only useable when your flash is on cooldown.

That is not worth it for many champions. It is hardly going to make Flash even more mandatory, especially as most people take flash anyways. This rune is only really useful on junglers and a few select others.

Ahristocats80 votes

i'm sorry but on jungle olaf i'm going to take flash instead of ghost now

this shit completly changes the way junglers will gank lanes to avoid wards

Ralanr1 votes

Are people able to see the area of impact when channeling?

1374345 votes

Nope, as you can see in the gif. The rune doesn't grant you any extra vision.

Ralanr1 votes

But do your enemies see it?

1374345 votes

No. It is a mini flash that requires you to channel for 2.5 seconds before hand. Enemy won't know where champion blinked to just like you get no indication of where enemy actually blinked to with flash unless you already have vision of the area.

Who knows, maybe they have something for other summoner spells too? I hope so.

Are you insane?

Joseraph7 votes

Nice counter argument. I haven't really seen a reason why this would totally crowd out other summoners

IcyPepper3 votes

Flash does that well enough on its own.

Joseraph2 votes

And yet there are champions where Ghost can be better than Flash

IcyPepper5 votes

I was kind of agreeing with you, that this rune probably won't change much. Flash is just... well, it's the rule while Ghost champions are the exception. The game would have to be overhauled to change that, so I really hope Flash isn't the only summoner getting a rune buff like this...

Lol flash already crowds out other summoners, if you were paying attention for the past 6 years. It's literally a must 99% of the time already, and with this they're making it even stronger-more mandatory than before.

Joseraph4 votes

Im not denying that Flash is the best summoner in the game (at least it was after Clairvoyance got removed Kappa), but I just don't see how this will crowd other spells out more considering that it doesn't solve the issues that Ghost (or ignite/exhaust) do especially considering it's likely replacing a better Rune

Vectros11 votes

Seriously, this better not go through. Flash is already too strong. Mobility creep is through the roof. We need more ways to stop it like Poppy-not add more ways to use it.

The Yetii Rider2 votes

They JUST gave Singed grounding like one or two patches ago. We're getting anti mobility tools.

And Flash is still mandatory on 99% of champions. We need more anti mobility-Singed is a start, but it wouldn't hurt to put more in.

Quepha10 votes

can't be more mandatory than 100%.

Think of the gank paths that fid ult unlocks - obviously it doesn't have the aoe damage, but most chanps have their own damage. This is a massive buff to junglers with reliable cc but unreliable gap closers - I imagine Maokai could even send in his ulti from one direction and flank from another.

Suggestions of gank paths: over the wall into lane from bluebuff side near tribrush (yours and your opponent's), every gank path that Lee Sin likes to take mid (speaking of which, he can channel-flash those paths and then wardhop behind you for ults) and lane-ganks from brushes just got that much stronger.

It's not quote the same as giving every champion in the game a fidd ulti with a 10s cd, but it's a lot closer than you might think.

Hilariously enough, it's garbage on fidd himself unless his ult is down.

Durzaka5 votes

You guys are acting like this is just a free ability.

Are you forgetting that you have to USE Flash first. So now you no longer have an instant escape, at the cost of slightly better ganking.

BobaFlautist12 votes

Sums are meant to be used. Obviously you shouldn't flash in base so you have this available, but trading flashes with enemy mid level 3 is usually a good idea anyway, this just makes it even better.

I used to play voli jungle duo with a friend, if you approach from behind the skinny wall dividing river from raptor camp's area, wait for them to push up a little, and q-flash the wall-instant fling, it's like 45% fb, 45% flash and fb, and 10% just flash.

Obviously this is a specific use case, but the number of gank paths mid go from like 8 to 14-16, if you can jump walls without burning your gap closer/cc, and being able to do it every 10s is absolutely insane.

ModCaptainMårvelous2 votes

It also means you can be more aggressive in ganks without sacrificing ALL of your mobility. In most situations, if you burn flash to make the enemy laner burn flash? That's a win-win for you. You don't need flash as much as they need flash. Blink tells you "Hey, it's OK to burn flash to get theirs out. You'll be at an advantage."

Durzaka8 votes

Like said, youre giving a rune in order to do that.

On top of that, Flash is already at 99.999% pick rate, how would they do anything to make it MORE mandatory than that?

Hecarim, Shaco, Olaf using Flash instead of Ghost :D

Look! Riot reveals they're working on something cool and interesting to add new possibilities to the game. Quick! Band together to try to shame them out of it!

3TWarrior3 votes

ok, now imagine this...lee sin can now pull off his insec kick play every time his ult is off cooldown and not just ever 4 minutes

early game junglers are going to go on a rampage and crush diversity again

i cant move wtf2 votes

Now that you mention it I'm remembering all those times Lee ward hopped in front of me and I stood still for 2.5 seconds waiting for him to use his flash. This is definitely too much of an exploit. Continue the shaming!

3TWarrior6 votes

you have it backwards. I'm mostly thinking of bottom lane, but did you see the range on that blink? He blinks into lane behind the laner, ward hops into a better position, probably Q's, ULTS, follows them with a Q and play complete

Rins Thigh Socks7 votes

I imagine the only champions this is really useful on are hard engage supports and junglers. Especially ones that love diving you near/under your tower.

No thanks. If Lee/Vi hits bot lane and is forced to flash I don't want to be under pressure because he can still blink.

Nor do I really care for Alistar showing up behind me and knocking me out from under tower. Keep that shit in season 2.

Canastus7 votes

This is going to be an absolutely mandatory pick for ANY immobile champ who's unable to get past walls on their own.

Kairoptra5 votes

You make it sound like everybody will be taking this. However, you can only choose two out of the five trees; meaning that your choice will be based on more than just one rune. Yes, this is a good pick. However, other trees may have better choices (depending upon the champion) that could easily outweigh this one.

FilDaFunk5 votes

Why are the new runes (seemingly) so very powerful, like keystones?

I, for one, like the slight boosts runes give that actually adapt to a playstyle, rather than (what I can see) a few powerful new runes that champs will take regardless of their playstyles.

Mecha Incognito8 votes

Because they're merging I think, masteries and runes are going to be the same thing.

FilDaFunk1 votes

But instead of having 1 keystone and loads of passive bonuses, we now have 10 or so keystones.

1374341 votes

You can still only have one of these "keystones" equipped for a game.

FilDaFunk1 votes

You're choosing up to 5, and these are all from the inspiration tree (or something like that).

Durzaka2 votes

Yes, but you have only have 2 major runes (one from each of 2 paths), if I recall correctly.

The rest are minor runes which I do not believe have been shown at all (but are likely stat boosts/manipulation and stuff like that).

So you basically have flash when u dont have flash?

Blåbæret4 votes

Rito: Let's nerf Ghost even more while we're buffing flash.

ModCaptainMårvelous3 votes

Don't remove it.

Make it so that it's not just when flash is on CD. Flash or Ghost. Maybe TP. Make it so that it's disabled if you take both flash and ghost and one is off CD.

DuskDaUmbreon3 votes

This, honestly, seems like it'll be spectacularly useless on many champions. You use flash for the instant escape, or the instant jump over a wall. This is like trying to use a Fiddle ult to escape. It may be useful for some champions to dash into baron/dragon pit, or some surprise engages, but it won't see use outside of that.
