Can we buff Taliyah?

Niyumi··17 votes·1,516 views

Just about every mid laner is far easier to use, is much longer range, much safer, and all that, yet does four times the damage, has more CC, all that. Outside of her wall, Tali is really just bad compared to any other mid laner, and really can't do damage without specific items, whereas someone like Orianna (who is a control mage as well) can just about 100-0 someone once she hits 6.

Better yet, can we just revert her to pre-6.14? Which solves literally every single problem with her?

EDIT: lul downvote from some fool

This, please

You are playing Taliyah wrong. You clear the wave and roam on her

Try that now and you're going to lose your tower. Actually, no. The other laner will probably farm far faster than you can, unless you want to empty your mana within 10s of entering lane every time.

you've obviously never played Taliyah

In my hands she feels pretty fine to me.

Laning phase, use Q one or 2 times on unworked ground to clear waves, rest of the time use it on worked ground, leave unworked ground in case of trading needed.

If you managed to pressure your opponent good job, you have the advantage, easy roams, easier to farm. If you haven't well, gotta use Q on unworked ground more often and shove wave to get farm, if you ever get the chance roam, easy ganks with ult etc etc.

You mention that she can't do dmg without specific items..... well that goes for every mage. About 100 ap is all you need to be able to one combo rotate to kill someone as a mage at lvl 6 v lvl 6 assuming your opponent didn't rush and MR. Taliyah since her ult doesn't do dmg would need 1 rotation + 1 more Q usually, and it's on a pretty low CD so it isn't that long of a wait.

Oh I do fine with Taliyah, but I just can't keep up in terms of damage with most mid laners, so I wonder why I bother playing her when I can play any other mid and do the same damage and control but a lot easier and quicker.

XeroKimo2 votes

I think she does plenty dmg, I just think it's hard to get the ideal situation to do maximum dmg in early game laning phase

Niyumi1 votes

Yeah, and that's what I mean. Her combo is really risky since it's such short range, really telegraphed, and hard to actually land. Meanwhile Ahri can just push Q + W and do more damage than I did, Syndra can roll her face, and so on.

AgeOfTheMage1 votes

i agree, taliyah is fine where she is, her combo's are nice and fluid, with ehr build(if u build her right) she will have little to no trouble in lane, if i get ganked i can w and e to run away

I'd prefer an E tweak and that W QoL change cannot come any faster. Those two skills are garbage and I can't even sugar coat it. Even Bjergsen said there's no reason to play her over any other champion at the moment (Link for reference: https://clips.twitch.tv/tsm_bjergsen/ElegantRabbitBlargNaut ). Even after 200 Ranked games with Taliyah this Season, I cannot say she is optimal. She's fun and that's the sole reason why I play her. If I want to win, I'd play Orianna, Anivia, Morgana, Viktor, Xerath, Ahri, Brand, or the almighty Syndra.

Her Q and R feel very powerful, but it's all she has.

Fairyfleur4 votes

Orianna does not have the ap at level 6 to one shot anybody. It is practically impossible.

invisiblecat13 votes

Her ult is on such a long cooldown and doesn't give her any fighting power She could use some buffs

Marshbouy3 votes

IMO i despise her perma slow and hate facing her. But yes she probably deserves buffs.

Leo10241 votes

permaslow? her only slow ability is her E, sure her Q can proc rylais but all you have to do is stand behind minions

Marshbouy2 votes

Her Q is on a fairly low CD later into the game and hits like a truck with thunderlords. She clears minions incredibly well and her Q slow with rylais was incredibly annoying.

Like i said, not OP, could probably use buffs, but i hate facing a good taliyah.

Leo10241 votes

don't be, i'm almost a level 5 taliyah but after they fucked with her W casting, i always push the. the wrong direction and my combo never lands because of it, they have 100 hp and i push them away from me and it sucks

it got so bad i stopped playing her which is a shame since she was my favorite champion for a while

Bladerunner77771 votes

I don't care about her abilities at all, the only thing I care about is:

"IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED, THROW ANOTHER ROCK"

and all the annoying quotes she says every time she uses an ability

Marshbouy1 votes

dude i can't stand her quotes either.

Not only are all of them short ranged, they're also all skillshots with the exception of annie. Azir hits u half the screen away with untargetable soldiers and it's not a skillshot. His Q is hardly one also because it moves so fucking fast and comes in every angle

By your standards, your little sentence there applies to everyone because they can all throw skills at u and auto

well you act like azir was the first and only champ to abuse champions when farming... that is all, but you know brand has his point and click E... and orianna has been the original zone mage... so..

^^^ this. Azir is one of the few champions i just can't bear to face. (if the azir is good)

Taliyah is quite balanced, but I guess in this world it means she needs a buff.

Boulderox1 votes

her problem is if she is allowed to be strong enough to roam well, TwistedFate mains get butthurt because they think she is better than he is and they need to nerf part of the kit that makes her what she was designed to do. But in lane her passive and ult are shit besides getting to lane,.... yey?

Riot refuses to let her E be stronger than her Q or be maxed first, so they have to pack everything into her q which is an amazing and annoying ability for the enemy, her W is crap without her E

and her passive gives MS, and her worked ground gives movespeed too... she needs something to either help her sustain or give her something else other than damage or MS

Odd Gnome1 votes

The one change that I think could make her good but still balanced, buff the Q damage, take the amount of shots from it down to 3 rather than 5. It's still enough to get thunderlords off if you're running it but it's not a huge burst of damage. And for the love of god bring back the extra damage to minions.

Muddafragot1 votes

Riot's too busy pumping out hit-or-miss champs to give a shit about the misses.

Almost everything you said was not true. "Just about every mid laner is far easier to use" whats the problem with that? Btw you mention orianna below whos also as hard as Taliyah in my ompinion at least to master her. "Much longer range" Taliyah has a big range compared to most mindlaners, expept a few ones like Xerath or Ziggs. But she nicely outranges some champions in the meta. For example kennen or vlad. "Much safer" i dont really get what do you wanna say with this. It has connection with some of her problems that you listed, but its not a fact. But sure shes not that safe thanks to her difficulty, but i you know how to play her than shes really safe. But this also applies to a lot of other champions, so lets stay at mid with examples orianna and azir are trash if you dont know how to play them. (Altough they can be usefull due to oris tf potential and azirs great late game scaling.) "yet does four times the damage" This can be true if taliyah can land her 3 skillshots out of tree and can execute her combo. Some other champions can do this with targeted abilities and not just with 3 but in some cases 4 or with passive dealing dmg 5. "has more CC" She has a slow and a knockup, and we can count her ultimate. Anivia is a great example to prove you wrong: Stun, Slow, Wall. But there are some others like Zyra(Slow, Root, Knockup) or Lissandra(Slow, Root, Stun). And they are controlmages as well.(Liss maybe burst mage instead.) And the last part is simply not true. You just need to understand her, and if you do, you can be a huge lane bully b4 the enemy hits lvl 6, and potentially kill him/her. The complete post seemed like a flame on why are u cant play taliyah to me.

Asura Gonza1 votes

Thing is, they cant go back to her having the super burst on E, because the W-E combo would simply be too imba. They will have to do something to make taliyah 1-Punish dashes more, or 2- Prevent enemies from dashing thru E somehow or 3-Improve her overall damage in E or 4- Give her more utility all around her kit to compensate for the damage loss and her inability to keep enemies from passing by her E without any major consequences. This options should be applied without giving her the previous E-W super burst or without locking again her W. People is not mad because of the W-E unlocking , people is mad because Taliyah users were accustomed to 100-0 irresponsible dashers, not anymore. Basically, the minion killing Q bonus nerf and her E nerf is what is keeping her how she is. Still, even with all thos nerfs, she is not bad. This needs to be said to prevent overbuffing and then getting her hammered even worst. She needs some QoL buffs alll around to promote her roaming, to make her use more her skills without getting mana starved (this will help to minion clear), to make her interact in a better way with her rock surf passive and with worked ground, less cooldown on her R. Things like that. All of this traits could be improved without having to touch her W-E damage and making her broken again. My 2 cents

lower W cooldown to match E, lower the mana cost on both skills, lower R cooldown in the first 2 levels and improve in some way rock surf for her to use it for more than returning to lane...and she would be good to go IMO.

Darkslayer851 votes

You've probably been playing against Taliyah's who max Q.

Playing against one who maxes E is a lot harder.

ActivatingEMP1 votes

Idk, I was fighting marsh earlier today and that Q damage is on par if not better than viktors e, the one thing almost all of his power is invested in, along with some extreme roaming power- I thinks she's balanced
