Sett's actually making me enjoy league again after a year and a half

I have to congratulate Riot on Sett. I didn't think they'd ever release a champion that wasn't horrifically broken and overloaded ever again.

Sett needs to be the BAR for Juggernauts and the BAR they need to reach for champions/updates overall.

He's strong don't get me wrong and his W needs to have some power taken out of it and put into either his Q or E. Other than that I feel he's perfect.

He has clear strengths and weaknesses and his damage while high right now (due to his W which is honestly his only damage) isn't too out of this world.

I really hope whoever worked on Sett at Riot gets to do more champions, they deserve all the praise by Riot after the amount of garbage we've been getting

Aphelios, Qiyana, Yuumi etc. and the updated ones like Irelia Akali Urgot etc.

Good on you person at Riot and thank you for finally giving me a reason to play/enjoy this game again

This champion is WAY too fun, I might or WILL main him but that is to be determined since I am yet to see Fiddlesticks' and Volibear's rework in my own hands.

I think setts appeal is his personality. His voice lines make him relatable and his kit isnt super complex sett only wants to do one thing and that's smash his opponents face In. 10/10

FilDaFunk1/16/2020, 1:59:07 PM8 votes

He doesn't have 20 dashes in his kit, it's so refreshing. That true damage on his W though is a bit eeeeh.

This is hilarious. Clear strengths and weaknesses? Can we talk about this idea of having counterpicks as the only clear weakness? Is that really interesting design, is this what you wanna depend on when playing top? Sett outclasses the older juggernauts and just beats them either by straight up killing them in lane or by being the better teamfighter. It's really just juggernaut powercreep. Now Riot isn't gonna change their non existent balance philosophy any time soon so I really don't care, game isn't gonna be balanced anyway, but for the love of god stop making cringey posts like these "ohhh random new champion X has really good design unlike random new champion Y and Z". Nonsense. You can't even tell us why he is good design other than you enjoying him, most likely because you win melee match ups super easy as Sett.

"Zoe's actually making me enjoy league again after a year and a half"

That's me last year when I picked her up. Of course Sett is fun. His kit is incredibly overloaded. Overloaded kits are fun to play.

2gudaiya1/16/2020, 2:36:33 PM5 votes

sett is actually overloaded, it's just a type of overloaded that you don't mind so you give it a pass. if sett is getting a pass then literally every release from the previous year gets a pass too. me, i like them all, they've all been great additions to the game lol, i cannot play favorites here.

I felt the same when Yuumi was released. Then she got nerfed to dust.

It's great you like the new champ, but a lot of ppl like the champions you write off as "garbage" - myself included. I think Riot should continue to do BOTH, release easy/simplistic champs AND unique/complicated champs in the same year - THAT is the bar they should set, trying to do BOTH not just ONE....so both sides can be happy =)

Mordechaiser1/16/2020, 5:04:42 AM4 votes

People just hate this champ because his power is visible. You don't see people on the boards raging about Fiora's overloaded kit and how her W reduces attack speed. Or how vayne counters everyone with botrk and rageblade and can chase anyone down with her huge movespeed.

He's not my style champ. But his kit is simple and refreshing and still unique. I like it. Nice work Riot.

All the other garbage they've pumped out in the last 2-3 years needs to be gutted. Mobility Creep, Burst Creep, Dragon buffs w/ no comeback mechanic, Akali Rework, Qiyana, Aphelios, Yuumi, Mord, Zoe, PantheonRework, Irelia Rework, Aatrox rework, Pyke, Kayne, 15min games due to massive snowball due to turret plate gold and dragon buffs. Literally everything about the game that makes me wan to vomit was made in the last 2-3 years.

IVSakenz1/16/2020, 11:53:42 AM3 votes

He is the first champ in a long time that is not broken.. strong, but if you know what your doing you can still deal with him effectively.

Do you even know what the fuck is overloaded? Overloaded means when a champion has too much stuff in their kit and do too much for their own good. Example Yasuo, passive on top of passive, on top of passive, multiple purpose spells on a single spell. Q can crit, also applies on hit, also the 3rd Q knock up, also you can Q after E for a interaction, also you can Q during R.

haymaker (W) only needed the true dmg, but hey it shields too. facebreaker (E) only needed the slow, but hey it stuns too. the ult only needed the aoe dmg, but hey it has a 99% slow too (and 4 other effects but those don't matter i guess.) all of these "other effects" being situational, like with your yasuo's. his kit plays into itself like you've stated, otherwise the champion can't actually be realised as a champion. i don't complain about the design scope of this game though, sett is a great addition lol, he is however no less egregious an addition than all the additions of the previous year, he might actually be more egregious pending his learning curve and the communities mastery of the champion going forward due to his power being less skill gated than most of the other releases :/ but hey, this was just about him being overloaded or not, he is overloaded, you can simply tolerate how his plays out because all things are different in execution.

People need to remember that while Sett's W is VERY strong, its only VERY strong at the cost of like, 1/2 his hp... maybe a little more if you didnt get it all done fast enough since his grit decays pretty quickly.

I think its actually a very balanced ability, being how strong it CAN be, its also VERY telegraphed and the true damage can be sidestepped into physical, and again, it costs him hp for it to be that strong.

What this means though is that playing against Sett requires a different approach than just ALL IN AND KILL HIM FAST AND NOW!

Food for thought.

oh my goodnesss1/17/2020, 2:12:47 AM1 votes

this champ is definitely way more balanced than others were when they first came out (aphelios, aphelios and aphelios. did I say aphelios?). Sett's abilities are great (your spot on about his W), but it's kinda upsetting when you are a mordekaiser main to see a new fighter who is an anti-fighter in top lane who pummels you.Mordekaiser Sett

since mord got me my calling card, I might use him whenever mord gets banned, since he is also a fighter who brings the pain to an enemy's face while maintaining their tankiness.

The Dreamwalker1/17/2020, 2:28:52 PM1 votes

I've never been a melee player, but of what little I played on the PBE, he was indeed fun as a champion. Strong, yes, but definitely fun.

I am more of a Miss Fortune / Morgana lover, so I like the simpleness of his kit and fighting style. So, good job Rito. I like a melee champion for once. XD

KnightLakega1/17/2020, 4:37:27 PM1 votes

I agree. Whoever made Sett needs to be lead designer, and balancer.

He's very powerful in the position he should be, with clear strengths and counters. You know how to fight him, and he knows how to fight. It's fair and balanced, without anything completely overloaded. Sett getting a kill, or getting killed comes down to how well the players can outplay each other, and that's how all champs should be.
