What is Cassiopeia's identity according to the community?

You would assume a Rioter working on a random rework for a character not deemed terrible would ask first before they reworked something. If only Stashu was magically Xelnath or something.

Riot obviously went with choice 1, focusing on her E specifically.

Im actually surprised that people see her more as a Zoner than a Sustained damage character.

The old Cassiopeia could zone out the enemy due to her passive that allowed her to spam Q's that actually did damage plus her W did more then just tickle enemies back then. Her AoE damage was what I found most appealing about her as a mage plus the benefit of them poisoning the enemy. Somehow Riot got it in their head that Cassie's E was what she was all about when it was all of her spells in combination that made her special. I have a feeling someone said "Hey why not make an scaling ap carry, super farming mage" and then someone else said "Well cassiopeia needs a rework why not try this out on her?".

Now they realize that no one likes this idea and whats more they test this idea by reworking a old and beloved champ and suddenly they're surprised at how much hate they are getting. The solution to the Cassiopeia issue is ....

-Learn from your mistakes -and more importantly....fix them......soon......plz

Well, her original design was for E to be the focus of her kit like Anivia's E is the focus of her kit (land skill shot to empower a targeted ability). Only DPS instead of her. Anivia and Cass were designed by the same person.

But yes having more than one mostly utility spell on a non-support is awkward.

Yes she always worked off the other spells but at least Anivia's q still stunned the enemy as well as damage them. I just feel like landing several great Cass Q's is not rewarding enough. At this rate they might as well move her to support lane like they did with Morgana if all she is going to have is utility.

In Stashu's last thread I suggested that her Q and W be given their own interaction with the Poison abilities of other champions. Boom, stronger poison identity that straight damage buffs could give.

Now thats an idea I could get behind at least its more creative than simply buffing her spells which would likely lead to moans about how she is then op.

I have literally 0 idea why people keep saying she's a DoT mage and a zoner. Her pre-rework kit still was mostly based around her E, which was most of her dmg. I think that's part of the reason Riot's had some trouble is because 1/3 of the people just wanted buffs and thought she was already perfect, another 1/3 thought she should have been redesigned to be focused more around her Q and W, and the rest wanted like a complete remake, with new abilities (me).

She's never played like a DoT mage, that would be like Malz or Swain.
