Shen Support, Thoughts on Build Order?

Started playing Shen as support earlier this week and I love him. Having said that, I'm struggling to pin down a decent build order. Right now it tends to orbit around 4 items, but the order is highly dependent on the game at the time I'm buying my next item.

The items are: item 2303 , item 3068 , item 3083, and item 3009. I'm also noticing a massive tank increase when i get item 3065.

Basically, I'd love some feedback from the general community on what they thing, in general is welcome, but I'd love to hear about the build order specifically. And should I be building item 3071 for the CDR and movement speed?

I am by no means a master Shen player, but he is my favourite champion. (i got him to lvl 6 in two games as soon as 6 and 7 came out.) And i do see an alternative build.

Sun Fire on support Shen should not be happening, due to the fact that you wont be split pushing, instead maybe try out Randuins, (Helps when the adc is building Crit) or maybe dead mans; the later being severely situational.

IMO the build doesn't need the warmonger, you can always replace It with something that gives health and armour, i suggest replacing it locket, and maybe the boots to Armour or Mr boots when needed.

Regarding Cleaver, NEVER get it on Shen, it may be tempting due to its stats, but you will never be able to use its shreding passive. If you are looking for a bit of Damage, Speed, and Cdr then i suggest something like Tri-force. Its Generally always been a pretty good item on shen. That in mind Please dont take into support unless you believe you can carry with it. You're better off getting a support item.

Also in regards to build order i suggest something like this. item 2303 -> item 3143 -> item 3111 -> item 3190 -> item 3800 ->item 3102 OR item 3742

Also try item 3512 As it pushes lane and generates gold for you, while getting you quite Tanky. Mostly as a first item top or a third item bot.

Do remember that No build is static NEEDS to be jumbled around 90% of the time.

Good luck.

I suppose the caveat I forgot to include is that I'm building the OP build when I'm the only tank (a common occurrence). In this case, I find myself dive bombing into the team fight fairly often.

To that end, the Sunfire helps with the taunt, since I'm doing some damage to these guys while I'm in there. Same with Thonrmail (if they had 4 AD). Since I'm in the Bronze bracket, I take Warmogs to keep my sustain up. I'm often roaming around with the 1 or 2 champs who are competent enough to not attack the tank.

That's not me explaining myself, I guess. Thanks for the feedback, man. I appreciate it.

As a Support main, I hate when that happens. The team goofs if they think you can be the teams tank on support level gold.

I use to play Shen support, a bit before the LCS looked at him. But I've since then leaned away from him. I have been finding it a bit more difficult to get his new kit to work in the duo lane. (probably works, it's just harder to pull off) Though the main attraction of shen support is having the global pressure on a support, and yet, tahm can do that a bit better.

Over all though, if you know what items to buy when, you will probably do alright.

I find him to be a really nice engage tank. I can dash in and QW to prevent a few whacks, or taunt the ADC off of my ADC. I scored a pretty nice move yesterday where I taunted the voli so he tossed me and not my ADC while exhausting their ADC. It made for a nice escape.

I find him to be the other side of the coin from Braum. Anyway, thanks for the response, man.

I like Deadmans and Zz'rot. Gives tons of mobility for roaming and the stats are nice. Dont get deadmans, you dont do physical damage very quickly for it to be worth.

So do I get Deadman's or not?

Yes. I don't like to rush it immediately after I get sighstone+suppitem+boots, but its not bad.

Don't buy sunfire. item 3401 item 2049 item 3143 item 3190 item 3158 item 3083 The armor/mr/warmogs are all somewhat interchangable based on team comps.
