Anti-true damage item

Hey , I was wondering what can happen if we had a tank item with a unique passive , that reduces true damage taken (10-20%) it wouldn't be a must build against flat true damage , but it will help against %Hp true damage cough fiora cough So instead of her killing me with 4-5 hits , she will have to hit like 5-6 vitals instead which will allow for some counter play in the "micro" aspect .

Doesn't that completely defeat the purpose of true damage?

True damage isn't supposed to be reduced?

If you have an item that reduces true damage, then it defeats the point of true damage.

Just tune down the obnoxious true damage abusers on a case by case tbh

Either that, or %true-damage really needs some reconsideration on Riot's part, at least when it's on certain champs.

The entire point of true damage, from a balance perspective, is that it isn't supposed to be reduced

A better idea would be to remove the % max hp true damage bullshit concept from the game altogether. I can see % current/max hp damage and true damage being necessary when it comes to dealing with tanks but the deadly combination of both is too unhealthy and is impossible to itemize against.

Yes, true damage isn't supposed to reduced by any means but that doesn't mean one shouldn't be able to play/itemize around it.

That is just dumb on an item, however, I can see it happening on a new champion. If it is on a single champion it is easy to balance as a counter to champions like Vayne, Yi, and Fiora. It would be nearly impossible to balance something like that as an item open for anyone to purchase though. I actually remember a rioter commenting something about the Taric rework possibly having something that converts true damage to physical damage. This obviously never came to be, but I thought it was a neat idea for a champion who is supposed to counter heavy AD team comps.

it's called HP, get a warmog if true damage is what you want to reduce.

Isn't that explicitly what item 3193's active is for?
