Remove Mage Tanks

Amumu Chogath Malphite Galio Blitzcrank They are not always good to buy ap but when they do and start getting ahead they fucking dominate. It has been a long time since I have seen a cho go a real tank build because mage items are so fucking gold efficient now it is kind of dumb to buy tank items on a champ with a kit that is riddled with ap scaling. Mal finally got the nerf bat on his ult so he is finally going back to a tank build to a degree. I still see them going proto belt and ludens for the ult cheese while being more tanky which is less toxic than the hyper nuke before his most recent nerf. Amumu mains are switching to a runic echos build because he has really nasty peel and last time I have seen this dude build anything but abyssal and runic combo has been a while. Galio was gutted with his flash taunt so now we have a champion who has become a cancer to the mid lane with his overbearing ap scalings and base tanky stats. AP blitz is troll but it is none the less frustrating. In most cases these builds are for trolls but now it seems like the thing to do. Why go a mage when you can go a tank with on par ap scaling and not have to deal with the squishy aspect your champions class. Anytime I see a tank like the ones above get only one tank item and the rest mage items I still consider them fucking mages at that point. Its the abuse of tank stats with overbearing ap scaling and the gold efficiency of mage items and the rune changes that have allowed this to ruin the meta even further.

these aren't really 'mage tanks', they are very old champs who have AP scaling because the game was far more experimental back then.

Galio has been reworked and re-vamped multiple times into a anti-mage mage. (like kassadin) he is meant to be this way.

Cho'gath was originally meant as an AP mage, who could get more HP from eating target, but lose half of that on death. he was reworked into a tank with indeed, unhealthy scalings. but this is because riot hasn't removed his weird 'tanky mage playstyle' (and it is too synonymous with cho at this point.)

blitz is blitz, if he dares to build AP, punish him by deleting him, because now he is squishier than the average ADC.

malph and amumu where build around their ult's at the time: there ult's took up a huge part of their power budget and often times, they didnt have the captal to build AP (remember, AP items used to be quite expensive back in the day) they still have these scalings however, because they where giving an other build path that they could POTENTIALLY follow.

ergo: they might be tanky, but that's and illusion: if they didn't one-shot you, you could probably melt them. most of their 'base tankyness' lies in their defensive abilities base number: which are often quite low.

That's all.

Mage Tanks?

Don't you mean Swain Ryze?

Not really. Swain is like an ap bruiser and ryze is an ap hyper carry.
