No I'm just tired of RNG. There are fights that are decided completely by it. You ever had 35% crit chance, and attacked a guy 5 times without getting a single crit? FUN.

Phife2 votes

Lmao that means you should donate to the church of RNGesus you must increase your faith!

But seriously, imagine this game without any rng... everything could be calculated and estimated. You would know who wins before a game starts!

There's a difference between rng and player decisions. You could argue there's some biological rng-ish things going on there. but at least it's not just hardcoded luck. Right now, the ONLY rng in league is crit, so it's sort of out of place.

why is it "out of place"? There is crit in every game, no one complains about it. Its there to influence player decision making!

I wouldn't say "no one." It's been a long time, but I remember people arguing against crit in WoW too. And the argument is that it makes players gamble rather than plan. "Trynd's only got half his bar and an ie, he'll PROBABLY not crit me twice in a row." It's not taking risks in that you're trying to predict you're enemy and out strategize them. You're just hoping.

Whats the real difference? Im diamond so i understand the concept of strategizing and just YOLO'ing. But the point is that Crit affects player decisions more than; If player A has more AD then player B player A will win.

Critical hit can lead to "I got lucky early and was able to snowball to a win" situation. Also, you pointing out your Ranked Rank didn't help you prove your point at all. It just makes me think you aren't Diamond and said that just to try and prove your point.

You do know you can hover over their name and see the badge they earned for where they placed in the last season. Mine shows gold and his is diamond.

I saw a clip of a Zed vs Zed matchup, where one Zed was landing everything perfectly while the other was messing up left and right. This was at level three or so, and naturally the one that was playing better was winning... Right up until the last hit, where the worse player got a crit from his 1% crit chance runes and won.

It's things like this that make people want crit removed. If you're not building armor, you're not building armor and expect to be shredded.

Zed vs Zed, sounds like you're complaining about norms bro... Srry but most people shouldn't cry a river over normal games.

The Zed vs Zed clip is used to illustrate the problem perfectly.

You can't argue that the champions had different base stats, starting items, power spikes, etc. that you would argue in a match between two different champions, when they start out the same on the same champion with the same power spike. When one player plays better (aka, was dealing more damage) and the other player wins, that problem is going to exist at all levels of play in all game modes.

There's a reason pros take that 1% crit chance rune into all their competitive matches. It's because having a situation like this Zed vs Zed match could cost them the lane or even the game.

In retrospect everyone has a fair chance to get that one percent to crit rather than just the person you're facing. If he crits you now you crit him later, Crit isn't the problem its peoples willingness to adjust to a situation and conform to it.

I personally think another problem, as an unranked scrub, is that there is very little in the way of item diversity for carries. What do you tend to get on pretty much every ranged AD Carry, barring Ezreal and Corki mostly? Infinity Edge; Statikk Shiv/Phantom Dancer;Last Whisper; Youmuu's/BorK/Bloodthirster;defensive item + boots of whatever kind. It's standard.

Then we look at DotA and see that, say, Morphling, Weaver and Medusa (all carries) could rush Linken's Sphere and then their builds all brachiate from there. Weaver could go for Desolator next, Morphling could go for Ethereal Blade for the Shotgun Build next, Dusa can go for Manta Style or Maelstrom next, and so on. And that's just them. Then there's carries like Naga Siren who rush Radiance then maybe Manta, Diffusal Blade, Heart of Terrasque, and so on.

For every carry in DotA they may cross over in builds to someone else, but they don't all need a certain build to keep up with another carry. Morphling doesn't need Daedalus, and Ember Spirit doesn't need Manta Style or Radiance. There's very little item diversity here, and I'm quite convinced that's why this game, at this point, is so hard to balance. All these carries whose build paths you can clearly see wanting to branch out have to share the same restricted item pool with another carry who may use the limited selection simply better until that carry is nerfed and cycle goes on. You could see this when S3 implemented Tiamat's new functionality and Ravenous Hydra - and you could see people using them immediately because it offered such wonderful synergy with their kits. Then there's items like Runaan's that scream for more synergistic items to complement it. Maybe some ranged-only on-hit effects. It could even give Kog'maw a new build path in addition to Teemo that values attack speed over raw damage and crits. Oh, and uh, they could help out Runaan's if they were going to do that.

But that's just my opinion. In addition to mobility creep, I feel a lack of item variety is certainly a problem.

Okay, you bring up a GREAT point! but you never seemed to have mention that crit is bad for the game. So yes on the point you bring up, we need at least 3 / 4 new items just for ADC's because of the item diversity atm is fairly lacking. Couldn't have said it better.

But dont think that because there is a lack of item for ADC's removing crit will make them better... That would make the item diversity far less!

So they are actually smart enough to see that there´s no way to "tank" a snowballing Fiora to death anyway...

lmao, you can still build tanky and not feed a fiora... its actually one way of stopping her snowballing.

IE.) you've got a chain vest now and fiora dives you under a tower with 50% hp... you're more likely to withstand her ult than you were before because of the 20% more damage reduction you just bought! If you didnt have that then you're most likely going to die because you kept building for ur tiamat.

Your falling on deaf ears. People don't want to hear this and would rather finish Hydra instead of trying to work around how to not lose.

People don't realize these things and wnat to stick to their builds that work until they don't. They don't see that sometimes its better to not lose instead of trying to win. Full Damage builds are good when you are ahead, but behind they are terrible. I see a lot of junglers/top laners do this. They start their damage item and don't want to stop until its done. Hydra urks me the most since Tiamat is a fine place to stop (usually where I stop anyway) to get some defense if the enemy killed you.

It just makes to much sense to do this and people don't like to listen to it.

No one can deny that RNG is just unhealthy for a game. When fights become a matter of who crits more, games can sometimes be as random as flipping a coin

{quoted} No one can deny that RNG is just unhealthy for a game. When fights become a matter of who crits more, games can sometimes be as random as flipping a coin

you're wrong, i deny it. I think its healthy and creates unique situations / scenarios that you have to adapt to at that very moment. Both sides can get crit and both have an equal chance of being lucky so whats the problem?

The problem is Most of the people on these boards think they're robots and will do everything perfect as if we're all scripted with a simple algebra equation.

A lot of people can and will deny this. If you think that winning a fight is entirely determined by crit chance then you have a lot to learn about this game. Crit is not an unhealthy stat for the game.

Then why can't I get a crit chance for doubling my stun, heals, or shields as support? I cast a clutch heal and suddenly heal for 600 instead of 300, winding up in my ADC getting a double kill. Would that be frustrating? Or how about I throw out a Morgana bind that last for 6 seconds instead of 3. Wouldn't that be just a tad annoying?

But it's okay to watch your teammate or your team lose an engage just because, by pure shit luck, an ADC managed to crit three times in a row. Yeah, that's lots of fun. Especially when said ADC thinks he's an LCS pro as a result.

I dont think you're able to quite grasp the concept of player enhancing situations, lmao. You're spells have the ability to easily one shot most ADC's but most ADC's have to attack more than 10 times to get kills. You have to understand how to math AP and AD the relevant costs and effects of each system.

Crit has been in any pvp / pve game in the world its never been complained about to this extent ever before.

Phife1 votes

If anything happens to crit it should just be a reduction in how much damage the auto attack multiplies by, not being removed.

Onegarion1 votes

what if they must reduced the boost from IE to make it not as required as it is?

Phife1 votes

{quoted} what if they must reduced the boost from IE to make it not as required as it is?

To be honest, if they reduced Crit damage multiplier overall that would make IE more essential then they could nerf that bonus crit damage if they want, i still think Crit should be in the game.

Onegarion1 votes

I'm saying changing the damage form say the 250% to a 225%. How do you think that would effect ADC builds specifically?

Phife1 votes

that'd be good, at least the way i think it would help.

I actually tend to play tanks.

Phife1 votes

Then you understand the importance of counter building people when they go full glass cannon, right?

Phife1 votes

The understanding of removing crit form the game is the same idea of not building a MR / armor Item vs someone who does alot of magic / physical damage.

If you're laning vs a Zed and you are playing saaayy orianna, you might build ur core sub-item first but during the laning phase you definitely want to set ur sights on a seekers armgaurd!
