Can Riot Add Minion Denial?

I know this sounds a lot like dota but if ranged is good at farming and poking against melee champs in league of legends, then what advantage is there to playing melee? In Dota 2 you can use the advantage of melee for good creep denial and like 14% or 28% of the gold from that denial and you can still be satisfied with being poked a bit by a Caitlyn because she is losing precious farm. This would make ranged champs good at poking but not so much for farming and it makes melees good at farming but not so much for poking. I just think there is a fundamental flaw with the way Riot designs carries being mostly ranged and melee being mostly tanks/bruisers or drain tanks. On paper it seems to work but in reality you cannot scale as a beefy melee tank or carry if you keep getting poked out of lane and out farmed by ranged abuse because your champion has a fundamental handicap. I really do think Dota 2 did something smart by adding this mechanic in the game to help out melee heroes against poke abuse from ranged.

Fun as that'd be, there are two reasons I don't expect we'll see it.

  1. Minions don't seem to "push" as far as they do in Dota. Could be in my head, but it seems to me that Dota's minions will move past things that are closer to them than League minions will. A League minion's "magnet zone" seems larger. Therefore, they won't present as many opportunities for melee denies. Again, though, could be in my head.

  2. Riot has problems adding new features to the core experience fullstop. I don't know if it's preference, laziness, or just plain incompetence... But something about Riot's design policy makes new features that significantly alter the Rift experience quite rare.
